View Full Version : SuperCard Lite With MicroSD Support Coming Soon!
Team Supercard are set to release a new DS Lite 'no stick out' flash adapter for the DS which will be able to use MicroSD as a source of storage medium. We managed to intercept an e-mail which was bound for distributors that confirms this product and says it will be released soon.
I am glad to tell you that our new product SuperCard Lite (MicroSD) will released soon. You can order at this moment, and we can ship to you before our release date. So, we can begin to sell SuperCard Lite at the same time all over the world. :)
SuperCard Lite Main Feature:
1. Use MicroSD Flash.
2. Can be insert into NDSL GBA slot without any stick out.
3. High Speed than SuperCard MiniSD and SuperCard SD version, running
DS game almost whithout any break when using high speed MicroSD Flash.
We are making the website of SuperCard Lite, I hope can finish it soon.
The question is how soon is 'soon'? Judging from the mail, we're going for a late July or early August release.

sounds cool. they teams making these sort of devices are getting better and faster and producing new version as well as making stuff more compatable. the homebrew stuff you can do off of these is pretty cool as well, plus moonshell for the media needs. :)

This might be worth getting if its super cheap. I'm really debating: EZIV light, G6 light, and now SC light. hmmmm
Romman told me it would be finished by the end of this month. Don't know if that means it will be in the distributors hands then or if thats just there developmental deadline.

What is the meaning of this "ALMOST"?
"DS game almost whithout any break when using high speed MicroSD Flash. "
Does it means that the boars still has problems but in any case will be released?

It means the data will be streamed at almost the same speed as from an original cart because microSD is faster than (mini)SD, so there are no more long loading times.
There's nothing wrong with the card itself.

Price from romman is slightly higher than the mini-SD price, but I gues people might sell it at the same price - I want to offer existing customers an exchange/upgrade program. I might also offer that to the rest of the world - I do not know how many fakes there are, and I do not know how to avoid people unknowingly returning fakes - I have never seen any and do not know how many are out there.

Micro-SD is not faster than Mini-SD at the moment. Micro-SD only goes up to about 80x, whereas Mini-SD is up to about 160x.
So "almost the same speed" will become "the same speed" when faster cards are available.

when they say it
will "not stick out"
does that mean the flash card will not stick out either??
Also, the reason the supercard is slow -
or at least I think I heard this -- is because
they use some cheap, slow memory chips
on the supercard itself -- not so much because
the sd card speed.... can anyone confirm this?

my SC is never slow. i don't know where people get the slowness from. unless 1-3 second load time when you initially select a game is slow, then yeah..

All flash carts have very high GBA compat, including the SuperCard. All major flash carts can run way more than 90% of all the games available.

I don't see the risk - I've been buying from them for nearly two years and when they say a product will come out, it comes out.

currently how many types of micro SDs are there? for 1gb? If a high speed card really will remove the slowdown.. Then I would not mind spending money to buy a high speed card..

There is no significant slowdown with flash carts today - that was a problem with GameBoy games a long time ago (like, last year) but not now. If there was a problem, you would find a list measuring it - the scene is very diligent when it comes to reporting actual flash cart performance. As far as I know, there is no list of slowdowns because the problem has pretty much gone away.

I have to say that my very non-scientific testing noticed some slowdown on GBA games with my Supercard. However when I just booted without my passme3 card in and then started the Supercard as a GBA cart from the DS’s menu it all seemed fine. I meant to sit down and really test this theory at some point.
I’ve not really played much of GBA games with the Supercard yet as I have a whole library of DS games to get through first but I will at some point. Do you have to save games manually with GBA games on the supercard? (Sorry it’s off topic)

Nobody knows until the product is released, but I guess the SuperCard Lite is going to use the same firmware as the other SD SuperCards, so it should work fine with the MML.
As far as I know, all passme devices do the same thing - instruct the console to run a program from a certain place in memory - so I guess that the passme firmware checks to see what device is in the GBA slot and passes control to it based on the result.
So, even if there was an unusual response from the new SuperCard Lite, it only needs a firmware update to the passme device to support it, and passme firmware is easy to update.
The only problem I know of with the MML is that it did not handle sleep mode - you can add that back with a hardware hack apparently, and maybe by now they've fixed that. So I would say that almost all the existing passme devices are going to work fine with the SuperCard Lite - I suppose the SuperCard Team think that the wider the compatibilty, the more they'll sell.

No one outside the SuperCard Team knows what it looks like, but romman has said that it will fit flush - all existing DS Lite-only flash carts do not fit flush - they stick out. Still nobody knows what colour it is, so, will it be skinnable?
>>where is your store?
I am based in London, England - I have had a lot of US Customers over the last two years who get fulfilled more quickly than from the far east and they can call, email or Skype me in their language, and get a 100% refund and year warranty, so I reckon it is better to buy from me than from the Far East.

No probs, Samar - thanks for the heads up!
What is a fair deal?
How about, for existing SuperCardStore customers, the upgrade value is 1% less than for every ten days you've had it? So, if you'd had it 10 days, you get 99% of your money back when you upgrade? If you'd had it a year, you get 63.5% back?
I suppose it should be 3% per day as they are only warranted for a year, but that seems wrong as they will last for decades.
One person wants to exchange their passme - they've used it and don't need it anymore, but I can't really handle that - I'm selling them at a very low price because, once you've used it to flash, you don't need it anymore - but it still seems like a rip-off to have paid for 5 minutes use.
Should new customers be treated any different?
I guess it will have to be a "pay upfront and get refunded" deal, because I will need to see the returned product before it can be valued - that way I can ship the SuperCard Lite immediately. One person dissected the SuperCard then sent it back badly re-glued as well as non-working, hoping for a refund...

I didn't buy my Supercard SD from you.. but now I wish I did! That offer seems extremely generous (maybe too much?!). Actually I don't normally like to sell/part-exchange anything but that offer would be seriously tempting.
What will you be doing with the returns?
I expect I will order the Supercard Lite from you this time around, but I want to wait and see what it's like first. At the moment I quite like the look of the EWIN2 card (http://www.yyjoy.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=867) even though it isn't flush it seems to have a good build and compatability (apparently) and good price.. I am doubtful that the Supercard Lite will be flush either despite the claims but I would gladly be proven wrong!

it is possible with microsd, not with minisd. I compared the g6 lite with a minisd card and it wont fit inside, but with microsd it fits :)

I suppose if it doesn't have the extended wing things at the top it would fit in the original DS but you'd never get it out without taking the DS apart lol

I think you get what you pay for and the M3 and G6 were always more expensive than the SuperCard so I would guess that maybe they were better. To compete with the SuperCard, which could be the market leader (hard to know) I guess you have to offer more features. What surprises me is, as the memory prices fall, why does the flash cart price remain fixed? I think the flash cart prices have to come down, but maybe this amount of money is how much the market is prepared to pay for this type of product....
SuperCardStore: can you please at least let us know which colour the SC Lite will be in? i would not want a SC Lite in purple colour:eek:

I'd like a purple supercard lite.
The problem I have is this though. I just bought a white DS Lite in the Game 24hr Spectacular and I already have a black one and I'm going to give one to my brother for his birthday but which one.
I like both and my black one has that yellow screen issue
Mazza, keep the white one and give the black one instead. :D

I do not know until my stock arrives (tomorrow I hope) but I guess that the SCL will come with a range of covers, maybe white, blue and black, and that maybe more covers will be available as more DS Lite colours emerge - I guess this because other DS Lite flash carts come with a few covers that let you change the shade to match your particular DS Lite - that's a good idea - I guess every DS Lite flash cart maker will think in the same way.

Any idea how much they will cost? I'm in USA.

The photo of the SCL in the open packaging, and the pic on the front of the box don't suggest any other colours but white included, even if it is possible to change the shell. I wouldn't be surprised if it is not possible to change the shell and that SC are starting off with White only as it's the most widespread (only colour in the US so far?), but maybe they'll branch into other colours after a few shipments.
Hopefully this is another thing I'll be proved wrong about (like the flush fit ;)) as I would really prefer it in blue!
