this loader is the 4.0beta loader with chinese and english menus !
but if you want to upgrade your chinese g6 lite you will only able to use the chinese loader (4.0a, 4.0c or 4.1)
so nothing new with this loader... we already know it

How about the PALM feature on this, is it in english?

This is the only reason why I didn't get the Chinese version yet. I have been waiting for the PALM software to be in english. It may sound stupid, but I will actually use it.

by palm i assume u mean pda which i heard isn't in english on either version
and i really don't understand why you want the PDA feature so badly

but i do assume when the official english g6 lite comes or maybe one of the new english firmwares, it'll have pda translated

and this is just the beta firmware which everyone already knew was english and chinese. it comes on the cd with your g6 lite. this is nothing new, they're just making a big deal out of it.

i was hoping someone cracked the newest english patch and got it to work on chinese but this is just crap.

the same old stuff get posted.
seriously, this whole g6lite thing has been like an epidemic.

has there always been so much interest in gba flashcards? it seems like people who aren't really serious about this stuff are just posting like maniacs and then leaving the forum. I don't know where these people come from, but all of a sudden everyone wants in on the ds flashcard scene. And like I said, they aren't even serious enough to find their own information, or just post the same s*** over and over (not just asking but telling too)

honestly people, the system is designed to work with only a minority cheating and stealing:D

EDIT: I just looked at the people who have posted here, and most of you seem fairly credible, so no offense. but you guys should see what i'm saying

Sorry if this is a n00b question

is this firmware of g6 like a re-coded firmware, or is it just a one-time release from the g6 team, if it is re-encoded won't there be newer english firmware for the g6 lite soon?

You can't.
It's region locked (similar to DVD drives). The only way would be if someone managed to 'hack' the English firmware to make the chinese G6L's think it was using the chinese firmware. And besides, why do you need to, anyway? It's not that important; all you have to do is simply use the english/chinese beta firmware, and get used to all the menus, so you know what each option is. Then you won't need english firmware anymore :)

This is old crap man. I want to have a real hack. It must be possible.

A friend of mine has a test G6 lite which is compatible with chinese and english firmware. I screwed my chinese and his test version open and the chip and pcb is the damn same. The english beta firmware works on a chinese version and in my opinion its only because the beta firmware isnt region protected.

The newer versions all are region locked so the trick is to find out whats different between the beta firmware and the latest locked firmware. Exploit that difference to make all compatible firmware. Or we try it the hard way by exploiting the system itself.

I think the system works like this. The new firmware reads the old firmware the G6 manufacturers put on (the pcb is the damn same, there is no way it can be a hardware difference) and thats how it knows if its chinese or not. If anybody can find a way to delete that info to get the english firmware to think its a english card then there is no problem.

And to finish this off.. Maybe someone can start a special hacking thread :p

Wow I never knew this, that's crazy to have G6's region locked!!!

Not even Nintendo GBA or DS games are region locked! So a flash cart being region locked is insane, shame on G6 company for something so stupid.

I'm glad I have the English language version, but the user should be able to install any region they want IMO.

This needs to be cracked.

They are just trying to make a bit of money from the rich laowai :p

I think that the G6lite is so easy to use it doesn't matter which language it is in. I must admit though. If I could, I would flash mine to English.

I can see things from the point of view of the company. It takes alot of effort translating menus into english, and dealing with english speaking customers. So they want to charge a bit more money for the english version.

Remember Chinese is the most popular language in the world. Perhaps we should all just learn it. Then we would have no problems ;)

Or we just crack the card because thats easier then learning chinese :p

Does anyone know of a site that hacks code for the G6? I cant believe there isnt a hack out yet that enables the chinese g6 carts to run the english firmware. I have the beta version on my computer but i dont use it because its outdated. I would like to use the PDA functions but since there is no hack for the firmware and i dont understand chinese, i just wont be able to use it. I have tried running DSOranize a homebrew program but it doesnt seem to work on my G6 Lite. Theres like 3 different colors out now, i tried using the green one since it works with the M3. But of course to no prevail. Please, if anyone has found a site or knows of a firmware hack please respond.

A big reason to hack firmware is because of mediaplayextend (which now has very good e-book features) not allow to see txt's in other than GB and Big5 codepages. Also a mp3 player in chinese is not very understandable...

On winsunx the Chinese G6 Lite / Passcard3 is $12 cheaper than the English Version. Just wondering if my cheapness will hurt my experience using the G6 Lite not able to understand the menu. I'm sure I'll be able to navigate through it, don't care about the pda feature, just making sure I'll be fine buying the cheaper Chinese rather than the English version.

from what everyone is saying, you should be good to go. the only difference is the text on the menus, which dont matter anyways.

I don't have it any longer but if you are running DS games you are better off with the chinese loader. Some of the newer games require the newer loaders to run in addition to the newer pc software. The menu's aren't hard to navigate in chinese and you can rename your games so they have enlish names on your menu.

edit: If you want the beta loader it is linked in the first post of this thread. It still works.

Not true, if you use the latest PC software to get the roms on your card you are good to go. All new games work fine with the beta english loader :)

My problem is this:

I have the Chinese version of the G6, and now I am reading that you can only play the new Pokemon games if your card has the most recent firmware. I would really like to keep my menu in English, but I also would really like to be able to play and save the new pokemon games!

Quite a pickle...

I think you are going to have to bite the bullet and update to the Chinese firmware. I've had this problem with a few games using my G6 Lite. Since Juggernaut seems to have had success with all games perhaps he can share some tricks with you to assure that yours will work.

Pokemon is the ONLY game I've encountered so far that an updated U-disk manager (with the beta English firmware) won't run properly. I keep hearing all these people say that simply trying different versions of the ROM produces different results, but I've tried a couple, still to no avail. It seems there is at least some truth to this, as some versions give whitescreen, some won't load at all, some have the save corruption problem, and some don't seem to save at all.
