It is not a fake i am using it at the moment and it is working fine. Extract firmware is you did for 2.6 and get the reboot.bin. Boots fine and runs games fine too. But not sure about web as i can't test it.

ok i have decrypted the eboot and put it in the corrct folders but when i load this up i get to the menu and i am able to select a iso then my psp reboots and hangs at the black screenn arggg i'm going to test this again.

installed it with the devhook installer and took the decompressed reboot bin from another site. no need to install this with fakeupdater.

To people unsure about the install process look at Andrei_ step by step here (http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=23921). It's about the 2.60 but the operation is the same. You'll also find here a Devhook user(-friendly hehe) guide.

Also don't forget to replace dh/271/flash1/registry/system.dreg and system.ireg with the ones from a lower FW install (it prevents freezing during the firmware boot) and to delete dh/271/flash1/registry/init.dat in case there is one. If there is none nvm.

Hmm sounds like someone is full of them self, we won't believe you unfort. because nobody else has successfully reported of doing this and its not so much illegal as long as you have a copy of the original 2.71 eboot because then its like you own a legit backup so there is no reason for you to now upload it. Otherwise your story does not follow to well at all.

ok heres a little tutorial.
1)download devhook 0.44 and put everything on the memory stick as usual
2)download the EBOOT.PBP from the sony website
3)open the EBOOT.PBP with pbp unpacker or similar and extract the DATA.PSAR
4)put the DATA.PSAR in the root of the memory stick
5)run the included devhook installer on the psp (install flash0 and flash1)
6)extract devhook 0.44 again and overwrite everything in the dh folder (its going to be a couple of .txt which include the path for the prx's)
7)get a decompressed 2.71 reboot.bin. google for 'decompressed reboot.bin 2.71', second entry. site name starts with ps2 :p
8)place reboot.bin in ms0:\dh\271\reboot.bin
9)done, run devhook

No I'm not asking for any eboot.pbp's or nothing just the loader because the only version I have is V0.43 but you guys said there is a 0.44 and i couldn't seem to find this so if somebody could just post a download link (to just the loader) it would be appreciated very much.

I have tried Tekken DR UMD and several iso and everything seems to be working fine. ihave tred 333mhz load games and exiting and that also works. Saving and laoding seems also fine. I hope there are not too many bugs in this one. Also i think Booster deserves a round of applause for all his hard work. Thankyou.

u don't hafta delete it but in the previous 2.6 0.43 version, i found that i couldn't delete my dh folder unless if i formatted my memory stick because of it but its not a big deal.

No, unfortunately, 1.5flash mode is not reachable, but there is a little tricky way to use it tough, it's not very convenient but a least it allows to use that mode again:

Devhook 0.42.001 was working great with this mode and in devhook 0.44 .0000 there are only 2 files which prevent it to work: msreboot.bin and devhook.prx. So on an working 0.44.000 installation I created 2 folders in dh/kd:

- devhook 0.42.0001
- devhook 0.44.0000

where I placed the 2 files from the specified version and I copy those from 1 folder to dh/kd when I want to change (a matter of 1 minute with Fileassistant). Devhook 0.44 interface shows the version number so when it's loaded it's easy to know which files are installed.

When in "0.42" you can reboot to 1.5flash NOUMD mode with direct icon boot, MPH (1.1 noumd mod) as external and RunUMD (original and fast start) as internal/external. To use 2.5, 2.6 and 2.7 emulation, you'll have to backup the two 0.44 files (unless backuping other files but only swapping 2 files in dhkd seems more convenient).

Well that's it, let's hope Booster will fix the access to 1.5flash mode cause the improvments from 0.42 to 0.44 are sooo nice.

The locoroco demo is working fine, too bad I don't understand a damn word of japanse hehe.

then why isn't it allowed to point someone to the google search for a full kit?
It helps the noobs, saves everyone time and ensures we have a common install base. I know the guide isn't hard to follow but it still costs many people time and nerves when that really isn't necessary.

Again, I understand a "no direct links" policy but not allowing tips in the form of google queries seems too strict.

I'm really of the opinion that we should have a unified devhook package we can reference to. Why?
- could include all latest fixes properly installed
- could come with all mods properly installed (and checked for incompabilities)
- could come with a help file for the usage
- could have stuff like WMA enabled by default (in registry)
- would be a common base to search for bugs

Doesn't that sound like a great idea?
Wouldn't that be a lot easier then having all the people go through all the tutorials, making wild mixes of Devhook versions, fixes, patches and mods?

Right now he have chaos. The forums are swamped with people asking questions about the process, with confused noobs not knowing why mod XY isn't working.
For example we have like 3 different wifi (fix) versions (original, patch .100 and 2.00 prx) some of which break games, others break the browser and so on.

It would be good enough to have it hosted on P2P or on some other site everyone knows about (or can easily find with google). Easier to support, easier for noobs, easier for experts since they won't have to deal with all the noob questions.

I havent gotten the .43 version to run. Hope this goes Smoother for me. Im stuck with version 42a right now. That was a snap to set up. I dumped my own 2.60 and still no dice.

1st posting to the site...:)

I recently downgraded my psp from 2.6 to 1.5, I have just downloaded this devhook thing to get the games to work but I havent got a clue what I am doing !!
I have tried to follow the instructions but cannot figure it out.:confused:

Can anyone give my a DUMMIES guide on how to do this please?:rolleyes:

I have copied the DH folders over to the MS_ROOT Folder and the games folder over to the PSP/GAMES fodler but when I run the devhook setup its coming up:

'cant load/start devhook'

what am I doing wrong??

It's really amazing if you think about it. The 1.5 community has been stagging further and further behind sony's footsteps until recently. Not only did booster get the community moving faster, but he caught us up with the Sony trail, good job booster :)! Also the community wouldn't have grown without Dark_AleX. It's great to see the community having great coders like these working hard to keep it going :)!

i seriously doubt its possible for devhook to brick a psp, it doesnt contain any code to write to the flash, if your psp has definitely died I would expect that this is due to another factor, not devhook specifically.

More information about this 'bricking' would be appreciated.

i followed the readme and read the whole thread but I still cannot get it working. When I start the Devhook, it boots up and after the Sony PSP screen it freezes at the wallpaper. No words or any menus. It is just the background. I'm lost. I've tried formatting memory stick and resettng to default settings. I also tried installing the firmware 3 times. Thanks in advance!

No there arent any 2.71 games except the loco demo yet, but that just makes us a step ahead of Sony :D

Unless they release a 2.8 with the next group of games that tries to prevent devhook from emulating..

Lets not forget it was Dark Alex who decrypted 2.71

Booster has used this decrypted firmware to create an emulation of 2.71, so next is the fight of Sony vs. Dark Alex.

Can a global megacorp with almost limitless resources create a firmware to defy decryption by a lone hacker?

Odds are not in Sony's favour :D

I got 2.6 working with 0.43.

Following the same procedure, I CAN'T get 2.71 working with 0.44.

My PSP simply won't reboot into 2.71. It switches off.

I have the decompressed, decrypted reboot.bin for 2.71 and it's in dh/271.

I basically used Fake Updater Mod to extract the 2.71 EBOOT.PBP (choosing "no" when asked if I want to decrypt), I copied the contents of F0 into dh/271/flash0 leaving the pspbt txt files intact, I made F1 folder into dh/271/flash1, and made sure there was no init. file in flash1/registry

I formatted my mem stick before all this, and I've tried changing the preload settings, to no avail.

I should add that 2.60 emulation is still working fine using DH 0.44. I just can't get the damn thing to reboot into 2.71. The problem occurs after I choose "Start" in Devhook 0.44 with Firmware set to 2.71 - makes me think I have a problem with reboot.bin. And I'm pretty sure I'm using the same reboot.bin as everyone else ;-)

Any ideas?

So the modchip will allow us to decrypt these files even if a hacker hasn't been able to yet?

I'd be pretty interested in seeing what could be done with this. Maybe we might never have to upgrade again, and maybe, just maybe, we'll be able to encrypt our own firmwares in the future and then all this wouldn't matter.

How likely is it that we'll ever be able to encrypt firmware so we can write to the PSP?

same problem here, need to change to 333 from XMB but can't select from devhook or get a freeze - this is a bit annoying i guess. Has anyone been able to select 333 from DH menu and get it to run??

This happened to me also, you need to get the FLASH1 folder copied from your 2.6

MS:\dh\271\flash1\registry\

wtf i have done wrong? i have installed fw 2.71 with the dh installer.Than i have put a reboot.bin for 2.71.It reboots to 2.71 but hangs sometimes before the xmb comes it's only the backround.And if it boots up to xmx than if i start the game it stops at the boot screen for the game the "Playstation Portable".

What i have done wrong?

Launching dh44 @ 222 and then switching into 333 from the xmb seems to work for me. Home button to exit works. Wifi however does not work. The browser does not lock up however. Switching back to 222 makes the wifi and browser work.

ok heres a little tutorial.
1)download devhook 0.44 and put everything on the memory stick as usual
2)download the EBOOT.PBP from the sony website
3)open the EBOOT.PBP with pbp unpacker or similar and extract the DATA.PSAR
4)put the DATA.PSAR in the root of the memory stick
5)run the included devhook installer on the psp (install flash0 and flash1)
6)extract devhook 0.44 again and overwrite everything in the dh folder (its going to be a couple of .txt which include the path for the prx's)
7)get a decompressed 2.71 reboot.bin. google for 'decompressed reboot.bin 2.71', second entry. site name starts with ps2 :p
8)place reboot.bin in ms0:\dh\271\reboot.bin
9)done, run devhook

In 2.71, my connection doesn't show - if I create a new one and do a scan, it finds my AP and I can enter settings, however when I press X to save settings, I get an 80110404 error. Searching the net, it seems the answer is to Restore Default Settings. However doing this in (emulated) 2.71 causes the Blue Screen (the one with all the languages) saying settings are corrupt, press O to restore.

But pressing O sends the PSP into an infinite loop of rebooting and going to the Settings Corrupt blue screen. I have to hard reset back to 1.5. However now when I try use Devhook to emulate 2.71 again, i go back into this infinite loop of corrupt settings. To get Devhook working again I had to delete my dh/271 folder and re-put it on again.

Any ideas?

Dont know if is already been told but if you boot device hook with 222 speed and then on XMB by using select+mode "overclock" to 333 then the isos work fine overclocked.... ;)

Right managed to get the devhook thing coming up on the memory stick .

when I start it the PSPscreen comes on then a dos like font says cant load/start devhook

and psp goes back to menu screen - can anyone advise?

i just tried to load pro evo soccer 5 untouched version...and i loaded it at 333mhz..each time it frozed at the psp playstation portable screen (after it rebooted the xmb) so i set to 222mhz and worked fine, no freezing...also the internet browser seems to work too at 222mhz without the wlan fix :P kool

I thought I read somewhere that one of the higher firmwares like 2.60 and/or 2.71 has a limitation within the firmware that WiFi cannot be utilized at 333Mhz and it needs to be clocked at 300MHz.

Does anyone know anything about the facts behind this? If this is true, maybe DevHook could be modded or coded to have a 300MHz option.

then in the adress bar in the browser put "file:/flash/whatever.swf" (no quotes)

I have no problems with programs like PMPMod & daxziso they work fine with microdrives.
If somebody could have a look at them & find out how they work with microdrives then we will have a fix.

WOWW!!!!. i love today man. lol. everything soo nice. bought a new 2gb..when i got back home. i was greeted with 2.71 emulation. :D:D. i havent even gotten to test 2.60, lol. so far... tekken untouched worked...and sponge bob untouched worked. (thats all i tried so far). (by worked..i mean..FULLY)

i wont be able to tell the difference since i havent used 2.60, but if im not mistaken, is 2.71 more stable?

however, i tried it on my cousins psp, and it worked....i could have been using the older devhook on his thuogh...i do not remember sorry.

donnow what to tell ya, works like a charm for me,, a little prob that i found is that u cant load up a game using 333, from the 1.5, u have to load at 222 then use the home+select, and i cant play a game of outrun with usb, when u try playing a new game it just disconnects from the usb ;)

I also get the 80110404 error when scanning for a network connection but only in 333MHz, L+R+UP shortcut to 1.5 and normal exit function work fine, reboot at 333 after set it in devhook menu also worked (played a time attack track with wipe out cso and had a little ride in town with GTA UMD) for me. Here's my config in case it helps:

-dump from an US 2.71 EBOOT
-used devhook firmware installer
-decrypted reboot.bin with dark alex tool
-replaced both F1 files from previous 2.6 install (also based on an US FW dump)

Also about 333, I noticed that 2.71 frezees at 333 if you set UMD disc in both UMD select and mount options AND if you let the umd tray empty during boot: freezes at XMB just before drawing menu and icon.

chaning isos is Home +L/R so what to change the speed?

Home + Select changes the CPU speed if i recall correctly.

no it didn't happen to me.
screenshot is fine for me now, but usb isn't
as long as i don't use usb, it works fine. once I try to use it, devhook will hang, and will hang still after that if i don't use it until i delete all folders and reinstall fresh copy of dh

my capture folder in XMB is empty as well, but it's there in the memory stick. I assume it can't display BMP file. not sure though.

i think if there's a successful capture, a negative bar will slide up from the bottom to the top of the screen. By negative i mean negative effect of the image

did you replace all the files? even the text file in the 271 folder. I believe there are 2 text files there

agree. but i'll still prefer link2 to PSP browser. and AFKIM is good, esp when i'm watching tv in my living room, or when my computer broke down last month and i need to look for help online

i was talking about the txt file in flash0, and if i'm not mistaken, it's in kd folder inside flash0.
the modfiles, do you keep them inside the modfile folder? or you took them out and put it in the dh\kd folder? you're supposed to keep it inside the modfile folder inside dh\kd.

i kept them where they were, so yes in the modfiles folder in the dh/kd.

and another yes to the .txt's. the exact location is dh/271/flash0/kd/(files).txt

this is so strange how i'm only having this problem.

Anyone else having problems getting flash in the browser to work correctly? i went to the psp section of newgrounds and tried playing a vid there and it dident work right, i just got a bunch of jumbled code and it ran out of memory..

Devhook .44 nuked my "ISO" folder, among others...

I can't imagine this happening while I was on the go.

While he's a god and brings us all super happy #1 awesomeness and all, I would have to send the Yakuza after Booster.

I can't save any bookmarks in the Sony browser under 2.71.

It will accept a bookmark and then 'lose' it when you go back for it.

Any suggestions? Anyone else notice this?

They worked fine for me under 2.6 emulation.

333 fix will no be made since it will spoil your psp on board chip ... he is trying to make a different approach where we play game at 333 mhz and when we surf the loader will fix to 222mhz

only 2 of the isos i have tried on there, are deffo not working.

Smackdown still crashes after you press start..
The Sims won't even get to the sony psp screen.

Any ideas??

tomb raider intro screen...and im guessing the rest of the game keeps moving very laggy. i did not compress it, i am running the original unedited iso. the memory stick constantly keeps loading. not sure whats causing it. i just got this brand new 2gb sandisk from best buy (the original solid blue one) YESTURDAY. so it is one day old, well, not even 24 hours yet. maybe because i tested alot of games on it from when i first opened it to now? (tomb raider is the last game i tested). probably need to run checkdisk and probably format again? just curious if its because of 2.71 emulation, or if its my memory stick.

while typing this msg, i left the game loading, right now, i am seeing the first video (after u start a new game) and the video is jumping, very laggy, but the sound is working perfect, its very out of sync, i wonder why.

when i ran this game through usb emulating on 2.5 firmware, it worked perfect.

Is there anyway I can launch my iso without having a umd in my drive so I can play my 2.60 game? My umd drive broke yesterday. It makes this weird noise whenever its loading the umd and doesnt load it.

nope. its true to some extent, but from what i could pick up, only GAMES is designed to run at 333mhz (well, i dont think any games yet..but rumour from a while back was gran turismo supposed to be at 333mhz). the xmb and web browser and stuff isnt designed to run at 333mhz, thats why booster said it can damage on board chip.

Actually you are close, but it's not hte XMB that wasn't designed to run at 333MHz, it was the WIFI that was not designed to run at 333MHz. The XMB is just like a BIOS, unless the WIFI is running, your unit can run at 333MHz without any danger to your board because the unit processor was designed to be able to be clocked at that speed.

i'm just confused as to why 333 used to work fine with wifi in the past. even in .43, i was able to do rss at 333, but the browser would freeze. these types of inconsistencies make me thing it's just some type of bug, otherwise 333 and wifi would never have worked.

also, i've set my auth.dat and cookie.dat in the net/http folder to read only, and they have not become corrupted yet. i'm assuming i just won't be able to save cookies?
