View Full Version : Japan divided over DS Web browser
A Famitsu poll reveals that just over half of those surveyed expressed an interest in the DS web browser with the rest indifferent or unsure about it.
Of those who answered, 55.3 percent said they were interested in Web browsing on the DS, citing the convenience of being able to check Web-based e-mail, the touch-pen support for text entry, and the ability to browse the Web using Wi-Fi stations in stores or at free wireless hot spots.
In contrast, 27.7 percent stated they were not interested in the browser, and 17 percent answered that they were unsure about it.
Among the reasons people cited for not being excited about the DS browser were that they already use other devices to access the Web, a lack of support for Flash or other multimedia formats, and lack of access to a wireless LAN.

I'm interested in the ram expansion :D
I'm sure some coders will make good use of it for interesting homebrew.
I also would like comercial games to use it, but that would be like the eternal "post release expansions don't work" matter with consoles, so I guess it should either not be used at all, or be used a lot so it justifies it's purchase and neither publishers or, most importantly, consumers, get hurt.
Also, since most current backup systems load from gba slot, massive use of this expansion would stress the advent of pure DS backup systems, wich now, having only secondary, non vital expansions like the rumble pack, is not a very hot issue, it seems.
Let's see how ninjads, mk4 and any future products do when they come out.

I admit it would be fun to browse on my Ds, but seriously and I'm not wanting to go for a battle of the handhelds, but the psp is very intuitive and since the firmware is upgradable it's way better for browsing. Flash is supported, RSS video and sound is supported and soon we will be able to watch youtube and google video.

Ummm...no. Flash version 6 is what's in the PSP browser.
YouTube and Google use a higher version than that.
Now throw in the limited RAM use that causes one to always hit the wall on big graphics sites.
Ironic how the main page of pspupdates.qj.net usually causes the PSP browser to crash.

Ok you obviously can't read correctly and you don't know how to use your psp.
1. RSS VIDEO FEEDS ARE SUPPORTED(FW 2.8) .
2. Firmware 3.0 = FLASH 7 hence why I said Google vids and Youtube will be supported.
3. Crash ??? Stop kidding me. Who doesn't have at least a 1 gig card and you just don't put any cache limit. When I used the 32mb cards I had insuficiend memory... I don't ever even get these with my 1 gig card.
There you go have a nice day.

No, I read correctly...as you can see form your statements below it's YOU that can't read.

Nothing to do with the browser....that's firmware.
2. Firmware 3.0 = FLASH 7 hence why I said Google vids and Youtube will be supported.
Cite your source...no hearsay either.

97% of PSP owners still use their original MemoryStick.
There you go have a nice day.
Thank you, I will.

Not true, the PSP browser uses memory from the internal RAM so you will always have an "inusfficent memory" error when you load too much content no matter how much capacity you have in the MS Duo
