XviD4PSP video converter for PSP and PC

I have 3.01 emulated via devhook 0.51. I think I was able to play video from the video folder and convert using MP4 PSP 2.80 but the PSP doesn't see the video on the video folder and if a put on the other folder with the proper MAQ00001.mp4 name doesn't play either.

Any help?

That's because they don't belong in the VIDEO folder. :eek:

Create a folder named MP_ROOT on the Memory Stick root in the same level as PSP folder.
Then create a folder named 100MNV01 inside and copy there the video files, changing the name for something like M4VXXXXX where the X are numbers in any order, this is if your video is in the MP4 format.

Create a folder with the name 100ANV01 for the files in AVC format, with the mask ANVXXXXX, as before the X are numbers.

NOTE: Remember to put all the system folder names in caps.

For PSP 2.80 video, you need to create a "VIDEO" folder at the root of your memory stick....not in PSP\VIDEO folder....

But For firmware below 2.80...use the explanation from dade above.

This application used to be the very best for encoding movies for the PSP. Unfortunately the interface is much too crowded now with useless settings and the dependencies on ffdshow, .NET framework and whatnot make it absolutely insane to install and use.

I'm quite well with computers but it took me more than an hour to set this up on somebody else's machine (no previous codecs installed). It's working, though.

On my machine - your app hasn't worked for a couple of weeks already. I always get script errors and whatnot. I'm in DLL hell with this program and I just wished you'd make it easy and stable again ...

Sorry, but it just had to be said. I simply cannot recommend this program to my friends anymore.

Xvid4PSP is an awesome application, I love the MKV/OGM support. It would be extremely cool and time saving if you could pick which audio or subtitles streams to use in these files.
I would also like to see audio/sub selection :D That would be nice.

I have a question though, I converted some OGG files to PSP AVC with the program. They worked fine on a 1.50 with 2.71 emulated (devhook 0.46) when i put them in the X:\MP_ROOT\100anv01\ folder. Now i've upgraded to 3.02 OE-B and the videos i converted don't work anymore (in the same folder). If i put them in the X:\VIDEO folder they don't work either!! They DO show up in the XBM on the PSP but if i press X on a video they'll stop instantly and i get a message that the video cannot be played... How can this happen? The video's i had stored on my PC to transfer to my PSP later don't work either if i copy them over. :mad: please tell me what's wrong.

I don't install Codec packs but I do install all codecs I need to actually enjoy my Windows installation (Xvid, Real Alternative, Quicktime Alternative and some others mostly audio).

All my other video apps work fine with my setup (Virtualdub, Vegas, Premiere and all my DVB apps) just Xvid4PSP doesn't like it. Which is a shame since it's just "Click'n'Go" once it's set up right.

First i have been forced to use xvid4psp 4.030 because all the other versions are not able to properly read .vob files. Anytime i place a .vob in xvid4psp i get this

Conversion from string "o" to type 'Integer' is not valid.

This is with your newest release. So anytime i want to creat pmp avc files i have to use xvid4psp 4.03.0 or whatever. However this version doesn't see .vob files so i have to change the file extension to .mpg which doesn't matter.

Can you please release a version that can address this issue.

My second request would be the ability to create mp4 avc files. Dark alex will probably be releasing 3.03 oe B which will allow users to play 480x272 mp4 files on the psp. So now there wont' be any use for pmp. So i would like to be able to creat mp4 avc files.

I'm downloading the new update 4.0.4.7 RC2.After i convert one vob in pmp avc
I say to you if it as the correct delay.

EDIT: I have the same problems with the new version.

sry i gave some wrong information. First of all i get that error when i choose a .vob file however if i rename the file to a .mpg xvid4psp is able to open it and start converting it to .pmp avc file. However once i do this the program is unable to correctly due the audio conversion. It takes about 1 hour to extract the audio. maybe i should send you the .vob file so you can figure it out. however your previous xvid4psp 4.30 was able to handle everything perfectly.

When the hour of audio encoding is over with the program finishes. However the audio part is having a problem. The video will play with pmp avc however there is no audio. Here is an example of the problem.

So basically if i set the file to .vob which it is i get that previous integer conversion error. Then when i set it to .mpg which it also is, i get no audio with the vob. I have several vobs that won't convert after xvid4psp 4.030 or whatever.

No, the pmp is desynced. I post the log by MediaInfo.
I view the pmp and the audio is finish at 1m 29sec, the video finish at 1m 40sec.
The video is plus longer. I demuxed the pmp avc with the official demuxer by Jonny and the audio is length 1m 29sec and the video 1m 40sec.

I am trying to encode Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest. The DVD was ripped to a single .VOB file. I believe the DVD Aspect Ratio is 2.35.1.

Should I be selecting "Auto Correct Aspect" in the encoder settings page? It is also setting the "Output Resolution" to 480x224. Is this correct?

Also, the encoder settings page indicates that my audio is English 0ch. Is this correct? The DVD was ripped with only the 5.1 soundtrack.

XviD4PSP (latest version) always crashes on me when encoding in PSP 2.80 MP4 AVC. After the second pass, it gives me a "Nero Digital Encoder" fatal error and terminates.

I have installed all the required tools and no codec packs.

I'm trying to encode a short video with the following settings: x264 + Avisynth - MP4 - Quality Limited. I have enabled Multi-threading but when it is disabled it has same problem. No other settings are changed. I am using Xvid4PSP 4.0.4.6 with everything required installed. I start the encoding, and then it just stops and does nothing after a while. Thank you for your help in advance.

Well I managed to get it WORKING.

Here's me settings copied from MeGUI,

--crf 20 --level 2.1 --ref 2 --mixed-refs --no-fast-pskip --bframes 1 --b-rdo --bime --weightb --direct auto --filter -1,-1 --subme 7 --trellis 2 --analyse p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,p4x4 --me umh --threads auto --thread-input --progress --no-psnr --no-ssim --output "E:\Video\Movies\English\Clerks.2[2006]DvDrip[Eng]-aXXo\scriptv.mp4" "E:\Video\Movies\English\Clerks.2[2006]DvDrip[Eng]-aXXo\script.avs"

But the audio needs to be AAC LC (like those in Firmware 2.71).

LASTLY, the resulting file needs to be atomchanged then renamed to MAQXXXXX.MP4. You have to use the atomchanger that supports all fps....Atomchange will automatically renamed it to MAQXXXXX.MP4

Then put in the previous (2.71 and below) folder structure MS:\MP_ROOT\101ANV01.

You can also use the .THM thumbnail file this time.

I tried with 29.90 fps and 23.976 fps video...I'll try a 25 fps video later.

I tried uninstalling the RC3 update version and going back to 4.0.4.6 and my OGM file worked like a charm again.

I'm in trouble.
I can't start every version over 4.0.3.0: when i click the icon the process start and after few second ends.

I've SP2, Framework 3, ffdshow, no codec packs.

I also reinstalled fwk 3 and the last Divx with no results.

What can i try? How can i intercept the conflict(?) with others programs/dlls?

I use Symantec Antivirus.

Version 4.0.3.0 works well.

Thanks. Already found worked combination. But bad news:
4:3 play ok only if resolution = 480x272 = more block artefacts.
File worked only with MP4 PSP format , not with MP4 PSP 2.80. Hope Dark_Alex fix this in OE-C.

For the new mp4 480x272 resolution that has been unlocked is the max bitrate 768. Why is that? i know for a fact that vids that you download from p-tv have 1000 kps. Does anyone know why?

So until I try fix this problem your vobs must be in place like D:\DVD\TEST\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB and better have IFO file too. Place may be: D:\MYDVD\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB or like that. Most important save DVD structure.

Right i tested my .vob again with your latest release to create a mp4 file however there is no sound.

Its like this. when i try to put the song in as a .vob xvid4psp is not able to do it.

When i change the file exension to .mpg xvid4psp is able to handle it but i get no sound. i have other .vobs you can test if you want.

not that i renamed my vob to mpg file extension becaue if i didn't then i wouldn't be able to convert.

My results are in. I put the file psycho le cemu love is dead.mpg and used directshow. It works! i got audio playing in my file now.


If i change the file to psycho le cemu love is dead.vob i get the above conversion from string "o" to type integer not valid. However if a change the file extension to .mpg then i am able to convert the file. However it does work using directshow once i change the file extension to .mpg


Winndyows take the file you downloaded from me. the "Psycho le Cemu Love is Dead.mpg" change it to "psycho le cemu love is dead.vob" and try to load it with your program.

Oh i know! I am sry. i have to name it to a .vob but i must use the dvd name as you gave an example previously. I am sry for not paying attension. Thanks.

All who want clear install:
install latest XviD4PSP with ignore file replace.
Deinstall with all check box.
Install again.
From ver 4.0.4.7 xvid4psp will unlock and deinstall all libs on uninstall.

2- I have tried to change the extension of the vob in mpg and the file come loaded but at the moment of the conversion the program stop. I enclose log2.

3- At last I have tried to make as you have said and that is to open the vob with DGIndex and to save proggetto d2v and the program says '' Field to me order corrected. The original version was saved with the exstetion .bad. I open it with XviD4PSP but the program stop. I enclose Log3.

Hey winnydows, thanks for such a powerful tool. I can't wait to use it! :) however, I get exactly the same error message as dvdgorila does, the one about the protected memory. (I use the newest version) I get it when trying to load d2v files or vob files. however, If I rename the vob file to .mpg then the cropping starts and I can set the decoding settings. Deistalling, rebooting and reinstalling xvid4psp and the .net framework with every installation setting as default didn't help. The Codec pack isn't istalled on my pc. The newest ffdshow build is installed. I've ripped the dvd with dvd shrink and left the original dvd structure intact. (VIDEO_TS folder) I left all the dgindex settings as default when creating the d2v file. Switching off NOD32 antivirus didn't help. I use a P4 3GHz with winXP SP2
Do you have any tips?

And is it possible that you add support for 23.97, 24 ad 25 fps support for the new psp480 profile? Or are these framerates not supported by dark_alex's hack?

Hi winny,congratulation for your excellent job.This is the best psp-video converter i used.
When i convert a video to MP4 PSP 480 the result is not = the preview.The image is not at full screen but there are the 2 black bars in the right and in the left.Is a problem due to the convertor or to the psp video player?

When playing the video, press triangle, you'll see the menu, then select the third icon "Screen Mode". Set this to Full Screen and you have 480 x 272 resolution. Hope that solved your problem! :)

I'm trying to convert a movie with 23.976 fps, but when I'm selecting MP4 PSP 480, the only framerate I can choose is 29.970..
I think this is why my converted video will be out of sync when playing it.

I can't encode dvd .vobs anymore.

When i change the file extension to .mpg using directshow i get this error at the end of the encoding process.

The .mp4 finished but it has no audio. The audio in not synced up.

You still havn't fixed the dvd problem that i reported.

i can't even load a normal .vob file with your program without getting that same protected memory message. This is completly new. please fix this. A lot of users now can't use your program.

With the RC2 and new athlon update one vob is open and encoded correctly, with another vob (that one where I had problems of desync of approximately 10 sec) the program one block on the scansion of the vob with MediaInfo,i attached the log for this.

I tried to open the vob with DGIndex and i created the d2v project, the program as generated a file VTS_01_1.d2v,VTS_01_1.d2v withe exstension BAD, the file VTS_01_0.fix.txt and the 3 track of audio in AC3. I open the VTS_01_1.d2v with XviD4PSP and the program go immediatly in the settings encode screen and after i encode in pmp avc the pmp is desync 10 sec.

Not sure if its a bug in MP4 PSP 480. But I convert Apple trailers to MP4 and they are out of sync. I guess its due to the framerate. Apple trailers are 23.976 and for MP4 PSP 480 you have a mandatory framerate of 29.97 is this due to the limitations on the avc hack implemented on OE-B? Please advise?

Yeah the new rc4 release has alot of bugs. I tried the release before RC4 and it help the problem with the vob files not encoding. Now RC4 has error messages galore. After running it over and over again i finally got it to work though who knows how long. Just have to say there are bugs from adding the audio decoder. And there are times the video is unsync. Seems like RC2 fixed things while RC4 just made things worst.

pmp avc vs pmp mp4. Which one is better for the highest quality vids. Both the vids are the same exact settings and everything yet there are differences as to how the video player shows them. I have noticed that pmp avc vids suffer from a lot of ghosting but maybe thats because the vids are soo sharp when compared to the vids avc mp4 on the psp puts out.

Maybe i am wrong. maybe i am not wrong. maybe they both look the same on the psp and i am just going crazy.

I am talking about vids that have come from the .vob encoded in 1500 kps 480x272 resolution using 3d ds. or what use to be called ultra quality.

I am having a hardtime choosing which one is better.

UPDATE: I got this when trying to convert one of my DVDs. "Conversion from string "" to type 'Decimal' is not valid."

Not sure if its a bug in MP4 PSP 480. But I convert Apple trailers to MP4 and they are out of sync. I guess its due to the framerate. Apple trailers are 23.976 and for MP4 PSP 480 you have a mandatory framerate of 29.97 is this due to the limitations on the avc hack implemented on OE-B? Please advise?

Anyone else having this issue?

Man still can't get it to convert using the newer RCs since adding of the audio decoder. RC2 worked fine with converting most dvds. Do i have to use directshow or mpeg-2? directshow or ac3?

Oh i am sry. they are real .vob however i just changed the file extension to .mpg because the ps3 will not read files that are .vobs. I am sry to change the file extension. They work now with your program having the file extension to .vob which makes me happy

With another vob (89mb and delay 1mn 51s) the video created is correctly synced, how never?

I have the latest RC5 (6 temp unavail on megaupload)

When trying to convert a 25fps vob to MP4 480 Xvid4PSP insists on encoding @ 29.97 fps with no option to go 25 from the menu. Using this I get a paltry 20fps during encoding. I really like all the new features and the constant improvements. I do miss the fact I used to get sometimes as much as 90 fps during encoding. Anyway back to my point. Is the frame-rate a bug or is there a reason Xvid4PSP is converting my PAL VOB to NTSC MP4.

But desync in your vob. You can try 4 differnt ways:
Decode file with DirectShowSource.
Manualy create D2V file with DGindex. With two variations Demux Tracks and Convert AC3 to WAV.
Press Edit AVS and replace DGindex Delay to MediaInfo delay info.

Hi winnydows, first thanks for your hard work.
I just noticed a small bug in XviD4PSP, when I convert my PAL dvd to "MP4 PSP 480" audio is a little out of sync and I found out in AVS script, it sets the audio delay incorrect. for example when delay is -280 ms, it's like this:

#Correct audio delay
audio = audio.DelayAudio(-0.00028)

that means -280 micro seconds and after I change it to (-0.28), audio is in sync. :)

I post the result of you tips. With the metod DGIndex-decode track/decode AC3 to WAV i have the same problems with XviD4PSP. With the metod directshowsource the video created is length 1m 29 sec (correctly) but the audio start at 1m of video. For the metod ''Press Edit AVS and replace DGindex Delay to MediaInfo delay info'' what I must put like value to replace, watches VTS_01_1.Info.txt in the previous page.

EDIT: I found the value of MediaInfo delay:-168. In AVS the value is ''audio = audio.DelayAudio(-0.000128)'', i change in ''audio =audio.DelayAudio(-0.000168)''
but the video created is ever desynced 10 seconds. The original vob is length 1m 29 sec and video encoded is length 1m 40 sec and the audio finish at 1m 29 sec.

EDIT2: I tried ''audio = audio.DelayAudio(-0.000128)'', i change in ''audio =audio.DelayAudio(-0.168)'' but is ever desync.

thats becouse you need to place them in the mp_root/100anv01/ folder, you also need to use the old naming structure like MAQ000000.MP4
i hope the video folder will work with this in a future update of custom firmware, like 3.03OE-B2 ...

I had no problems with the audio sync until you added the audio decoder. Anyway to fix sync audio or to change it back to the style of RC2 where it only had a video decoder? I just keep getting alot of different error messages everytime i try encoding a dvd to psp. Is it not stable enough. Sometimes it says cant open VTS_x_x.avs or not a valid ac-3 file when dvds use ac-3. Directshow works somtimes but then the audio is so unsynced. Guess i can just hope for it to be fixed in the next update. Hope I didn't sound demanding cause im not demanding anything just reporting bugs.

I haven't encoded a video to MP4-480 using XViD4PSP yet, but I made one with 3GP Converter (with custom 480x272 MP4 ini) and it played perfectly from my VIDEO folder in the root of my MS. Every video I've tried that way has worked.

All the time that I want to convert a xvid that has 640x272 to mp4 psp 2.80 ( by default was suppose to be 368x208 but the image will crop the size.
But if put on MP4 the Out Resolution is 416x176 is a bit annoying because the PSP will play in a strange way.
Is it to be this way?
Are there other way to do?

The concsensus of opinion elsewhere is that dark alex did not unlock this folder with his firmware and only the MP_ROOT folder is unlocked for full res.

Hi, I'm a real noob with this program, but maybe someone can help. I tried to convert my Star Wars Episode 3 so I can play it on my PSP, but I cant even get to the sttings screen. The program gets to the window where I choose the framerate, but shortly after I get an error an the program stops (doesn't crash, just stops.) This is the last few lines of the error:

I am soo confused. Some people have said they have got videos that are full resolution running in the VIDEO folder. are they lying? winnydows what do you think? I thought that this was not fuctional yet.

Also the naitive xmb player plays files differently than pmp avc. I think pmp avc is just sharper looking but the naitive xmb player plays files without to much ghosting. Just saying this. I would like to know why this is.

Got a question about subtitles.

I've got a few movies with added subtitles files in the .idx/.sub format that I want to convert to PMP-AVC, but the main problem is, English is not the "default" or first language encoded into the files, Chinese and Mandarin usually come first with these movies.....

Is there any way to either choose the English subs from within Xvid4PSP, or possibly to 'decompile' the subs to delete the other languages, then recompile them to a usable format?

Yeah i have to admit some problems with converting DVDs is the fact that most dvds have protection on them. So far i tried using AnyDVD and i got one of my dvds (Cowboy Bebop the movie) to encode. Going to try more dvds. Hope you can make an update to bypass the protection on the dvds. Also again i say man you update so fast. Hope your not working to hard on these updates. Take time off when ya can. Working too hard can cause people to screw up. Take it easy winnydows.

I've been trying out this program for over a month and never get anywhere. The log simply shows

But there are no errors in the script or log up to this point. After this message it says
'DirectShowSource : Timeout waiting for graph to start.'

There's also no way to know where this script is that it's referring to. There doesn't appear to be any installation instructions other than to install the program and a bunch of other programs like ffdshow.

Questions:
1) What version of clsid's ffdshow is acceptable or known to work? There are dozens available on the link provided.
2) What are the correct settings for ffdshow? There is mention that certain things have to be set in it, but no hint as to where these exact settings are.
3) Is it reasonable to expect that I can click on Open, select a divx AVI movie, and click 'Start' and it should then start encoding? Or do you have to change several settings from their shown values just to get an encode to even work?

Environment:
1) I don't have codec packs installed. I've used ffdshow for 2 years successfully and only after trying to get this program working have I screwed it up totally by changing settings, uninstalling, and re-installing several versions of ffdshow. And vobsub, and other dependencies.
2) Running Windows 2003, Xvid4PSP 4.0.4.8, ffdshow tryouts revision 705 Dec 18 2006 16:45:04, DGIndex 1.4.8, VirtualDub 1.7.0, VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.2, MPC 6.4.9.0
3) All programs installed in default locations.
4) C: drive has 27GB free. E: drive has 10GB free.
5) All file locations and paths shown exist and have read/write access.
6) Logged in as Administrator.

Issues:
1) There's no way to know what the default settings are for the main program or any dependent programs. In trying to get this working, I try changing a million things and of course now have no way of knowing what should be set to what. There's no 'Reset to Defaults' ability. For all I know my settings are totally incorrect and it would never work as it current is.

This program seems to be intended to be used only by people that have intimate technical knowledge of encoding, or have been using it so long that it seems intuitive to them, but completely alien to anyone trying it out for the first time. I'm not a noob, either.


I managed to get past this timeout error by changing the audio decoder setting from DirectShowSource to anything else. But then it works until the first pass and second pass of the video encoder, which take about 1 second each, followed by

I think some sort of fundamental instructions on how this must be set up, including all settings and versions noted, based on a virgin XP system. It's a nice front-end program, but this requires so much fiddling I feel like I'm back at the early days after CSS was created and everyone was trying to rip DVDs for the first time. This program should explain that it is a front end only and requires in-depth understanding of the underlying encoding and configuration settings needed for transcoding. If the user is looking for a program that converts to PSP videos from most standard videos, and expects an integrated solution, they should look elsewhere. It would save many hours of frustration, not to mention the wasted time in these forums supporting infinite issues because of the infinite combinations of systems.

You'll have to install ffdshow separately if you have a codec pack. Must be installed in C:\Program Files\ffdshow when it says where you want to install it to. Also @Winnydows the update RC8 has fixed alot of dvd problems for me. Still need an update to fix the unsync audio sometimes when using directshow decoders.

Not any more and you've moved on to supporting XP and Vista only (although you'll let me install it, just running gives an error).

wanting to create a collection of opening and ending of my preferred anime today I have taken episodes of naruto (avi-xvid) and through virtual dub included in your program I have seen which frame it start and ended the opening theme, once it finds the frame to you I have inserted the values in XviD4PSP and have created mine pmp/avc of 1m 30s. All perfect and synchronized. I have tried to only make same with the ending theme that after to have converted it in pmp/avc in the player it is not looked at/feels nothing and the duration and of approximately 9m. Reading the log that they are saved to me I have inasmuch as the converted video is of 1m 29s, can depend on that one?. I have converted the video with DirectShowSource and Vvid4PSP 4.0.4.8 RC8. I have attached the two log, that correcting of the acronym begins them and that one of the final acronym where I have the problem.

I update now with the RC9 and i test again.

The program was great that way! it was perfect! the vids played at that bitrate. Whoever said that doesnt' know how to operate your program or they don't know where to put their vids at. I don't know. All i know that it works!

1500 kbps worked for me too, but i do not use it becouse it takes a lot of memory stick space...
i would like to have it back, in case i have a short video where i need a really high quality...

So far so good. Everything seems good to go for me. Using RC8 then now RC9 i have no problems. I use MPEG2Source & NicAC3Source for DVDs and directshow for video files. All works good. No problems so far. Also there is one problem when using 480x272 is that if you watch a video with subtitles they are cut off. 480x272 cuts off the picture. 480x272 is only good if you watch a video without subs but i watch anime with subs and cant read the subs since they are cut off. 384x272 is the highest i can go when watching sub videos. Just letting you know. Thanx for all your hard work.

UPDATE: Who knows might be the fact that most normal video files are originally 4:3 and then converting them to 16:9 cuts off some of the video size.

UPDATE: Scratch that i cant get RC9 to create a D2V file. It trys to generate one but then it says file is finished when it never even encoded it yet. Seems like more dvd problems for RC9. RC8 fix alot of these problems.

I have conducted some tests on the .vob.This is very strange indeed

It would appear that the .vob works if i encode it to play with pmp avc. Previously i was using mp4 480 to play with the naitive xmb player. When i was testing with quicktime, the video wouldn't play only the sound with the quick time player. That would explain why the naitive xmb player can't play the video.

However i tested the same mp4 that wouldn't play with quicktime, but it plays the video with vlc media player. So there is a video stream thats being made. So now i just uninstalled quicktime and i installed quicktime alternitive to see if i get any better results.

It should be noted though that these vids i am testing are only 512 kps. The naitive xmb player still says they are 768 kbp. Not sure if that means anything.

Winnydows. Take the vob and create a psp mp4 480 file. and try to play it with the psp. It will say video not supported. Now take that mp4 and try to play it with quicktime. There is no video. Then take the same file and play it with vlc media player and there is video.

I tested with quicktime alternitive and media player classic can't play the mp4 file right. I am not sure whats happening. Please figure it out.

XviD4PSP (latest version) always crashes on me when encoding in PSP 2.80 MP4 AVC. After the second pass, it gives me a "Nero Digital Encoder" fatal error and terminates.

well i first tried this vob using

mpeg2source. audio decoder wave preset at quality. bitrate at 1500 and using quality 3d ds. I would like to note that all my other .vobs worked. including other vobs i ripped from the same dvd.

When the mp4 file was created. I tried to play it on my psp. Then i got the error "this video cannot be played"

then i took the same .vob and ran it using the speed profile settings. The same error occured. I tested it with 768 kps and 512 kps and still the same error.

Then i tried to play the mp4 using quicktime. I would not get any video but only the audio. So basically quicktime opened the mp4 but the screen of the player is white. The audio plays. I tried to get media player classica to play the file but i get this error

Then i sued vlc media player to play the mp4 file and it worked! I also took the same .vob file and made a pmp avc file and that worked too! However this .vob won't work with mp4 psp 480. This is all the information i know.

This doesn't make sense i have all the neccesary codecs to play the file.

This mp4 was created from that luna vob.


What do you mean by preset. I thought i told you all the settings that i used with the .vob

i so far tested two settings. So far i have tested for video decoder both mpetg2source and directshowsource. I tested both audio decoders. wavesource and directshow source. I have tried using the speed preset and quality preset. I even changed the bitrate and tested 512, 768, 1500. For profile i have tried speed and quality 3d ds. I have tried 1 pass and 2 pass.

This only happeneds when i try to make a mp4 psp 480 file from the luna vob. I can create a pmp avc file perfectly with that vob. I havn't tried anything else with it. The problem is only with this .vob

I encode your Luna with Speed preset ans speed profile and aspect correction off. Result - plays OK.

Give me another 5 minutes and i will make another mp4 with the log having checked the 4 log options like you asked. My last log was using the same settings it seems you were using.

As you can see that mp4 doesn't play on your psp. yet it was using these same settings basically. However it seems you are able to make these files on your computer work on your psp. it doesn't make sense. i must be missing something.

That other mp4 i created using the log above doesnt' play on my psp. media player classic can't play it because of the log i posted. I just put it on my psp just now. oh well. my file is 30 pecent done.

I have 4.0.47 with RC8 so if i want to upgrade to final 4.0.48 i need to uninstall old and install new release, right?

In log all same like in my. So problem may be in codecs. Remove all codecs. Install latest ffdshow with all check box (don`t check RAW video only). Also reset ffdshow settings. My be something wrong in your ffdshow settings.

When I encode a mp4 for the psp in 480x272 with a bitrate higher than the default (I tried a bitrate of 700) short movies work without any problems, but a full movie with a duration of more than say 90 minutes it is unplayable on the psp. The only message I get is "This video cannot be played."

Is there a size limit or something?

Bits limits. Unlock don`t fix all. May be I fix it when will make x264 arguments tweaks. Maybe peaks limit help. But now need rest a little.
Only PMP can shure play 1500 bitrate at full res.

Now app again reuploaded. Sorry. Last bug found - program hang if don`t run once VirtualDub.

i tried reinstalling ffdshow/xvid4psp bot nothing works... i'm using the latest build of ffdshow and your program.
any suggestions what i can do?

Look like ffdhsow don`t work. Maybe confilcts will other codecs. Try remove all codec and codeck pack. Fffshow incluide most format decoding. If it not help - only fresh windows install help you.

i have a digital tv tuner and i record in mpeg format,
i tried converting a short clip(1-2 minutes) to mp4 for my psp
and the audio and video got completely out of sync...
it might be becouse my tv tuner drops frames from time to time...

is there any solution for this, or going to be in the near future ??
