Hi Winnydows,

I just installed XviD4PSP 5.021 Beta Full, and I was wondering if PMP is the same as PMP AVC in XviD4PSP 4.115. Since I use your app a lot for encoding PMP AVC files, I just wanted to try your beta stuff. But didn't see PMP AVC in the format list, so I thought you might have removed the old PMP and replaced it with PMP AVC, but you just simply called it PMP instead of PMP AVC.
Thanks for this useful app! Lovin' it!

I downloaded and installed v5.021 Beta and while the interface is diffinatly different I could get used to it. What I can't get used to is the overall slowness of it. It took a good amount of time to open the app itself. Then when I opened a video file it took a good few minutes to actually allow me to move on. Because of the speed issue I went back to 4.1.1.5

Is it possible to rip a movie from the UMD to play on your memory card instead?

this has nothing to do wit xvid4psp

but you already can on custom fw 3.52 or higher

rip the umd movie using access umd via usb

then put the iso in a folder called video in your ISO folder

O.k. I'm having a dilema, I have the "Matrix" UMD because I wanted to see how it looks on the PSP. Well my movies that I'm trying to rip from DVD and convert them look a little bland and not as vibrant as the Matrix UMD.

I'm curious what are all your color selections you guys set in XviD for brightness, contrast, saturation? I'm using a PSP Slim and it seems the screen isn't bright enough. I tried messing with the settings, but it just doesn't seem to match the UMD's color and vibrancy.

Any help?

Hi Winnydows,

Is 5.021 Beta better than 4.115? So should I use 5.021 Beta instead of 4.115?

Howdy there. I'm having a problem with the program. I'm using version 4.1.1.5, full version. I've tried installing it twice now (remove and reinstall) and have also tried opening more than one avi file. The error happens right when I click file open and load the avi. I'm running Windows XP SP2 and have net 2 installed.

Here is the error message.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Try supplying a framerate. Usually DirectShowSource tries to determine it, but at times it fails.

To do this, open the AVI in something like VirtualDubMod and get the framerate from there. After that, open Notepad, and copy the following:

DirectShowSource("MyAVI.avi", fps=25.00)
(replace the above with appropriate values)

Now save this file as c.avs and try converting this file rather than the AVI.

Okie dokie. I think I got that figured out. :)

So in saving the file the "c" in c.avs can be replaced with the output filename right?

Edit: Nope, got an error unfortunately. :(

avis [error]: unsupported input format (YUY2)
x264 [error]: could not open input file 'C:\Documents and Settings\NC8430\Desktop\Sunshine\c.avs'

Here is the script I saved in the avs file that you mentioned.

DirectShowSource("Sunshine.avi", fps=23.976)

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try tonight! I'm just curious why this would be happening to me. I couldn't find much info on this error anywhere else. I don't think it's the source as I've tried a couple avi files and got the same error. Will I have to do this every time I was to convert a video?

I don't know. DirectShowSource sometimes automatically determines the framerate, sometimes it doesn't...

___________________________

winnydows, I have a question. I'm a command-line fanatic when it comes to video encoding, and I've been stealing your builds of x264 for PMP-AVC conversion XD
Just wondering, since your builds no longer write the .txt file in the original PMP-AVC build of x264, is there an easy way to get the rate/scale values? I've been using the old x264 just to get the rate/scale vars, but using your build to actually encode the video.

Thanks! :)

Hehe, I suppose I won't complain for free software! I tried something else before this and it worked fine... until I tried to play the movie and the video and audio were out of sync. It's not too hard to quickly edit a avs file. :)

So I should be using directshowsource... right? Dang I'm a newbie to this encoding thing.

Edit: Okay, I think it worked. I encoded in MP4 PSP 3.30 format and tried the file in both the VIDEO and MP_ROOT\100ANV01 folder with no luck. I got the "Unsupported Data" message in vsh. :( I also didn't find the thm file like I saw in the previous encoder I used. Is that needed?

The video does play in Windows.

Thanks again!

Hehe, I suppose I won't complain for free software!Actually, DirectShow is a part of DirectX, something that Microsoft develops :P

So I should be using directshowsource... right?Generally, most codecs you get are DirectShow codecs. If it's an AVI, you can try using AVISource (don't supply the fps paramater). I believe AVISource uses VFW filters to render the video, instead of DirectShow. (FYI, DirectShow is a "newer version" of VFW, but VFW is still used at times)

Videos inside ms0:/VIDEO no longer use .THM, they use .jpg extensions instead.
I can't think of a reason why videos won't work for you however...

Changes in beta 22:
Many fixes and tweaks.
Added color profiles and SBC editing (Saturation/Brightness...).
Now possible save audio from video to WAVE file (audio - save WAV).
Now possible demux audio from video (audio - save to ...).
Now possible demux video (video - save to ...).
Added shutdown timer.
Added can`t fps ... and can`t convertfps protection.
Default decoder back to DirectShowSource (ffmpegsource delay sound on many files and have very very long indexing).
Added DirectX player engine.
Added two new output conteiners - MOV, 3GP.
Probably some more (don`t remember :) ).

Please, winnydows, include the source code of XviD4PSP with each release so that you do not violate the terms of the GPL.

I reference Section 3:

3. You may copy and distribute the Program (or a work based on it,
under Section 2) in object code or executable form under the terms of
Sections 1 and 2 above provided that you also do one of the following:

a) Accompany it with the complete corresponding machine-readable
source code, which must be distributed under the terms of Sections
1 and 2 above on a medium customarily used for software interchange; or,

b) Accompany it with a written offer, valid for at least three
years, to give any third party, for a charge no more than your
cost of physically performing source distribution, a complete
machine-readable copy of the corresponding source code, to be
distributed under the terms of Sections 1 and 2 above on a medium
customarily used for software interchange; or,

c) Accompany it with the information you received as to the offer
to distribute corresponding source code. (This alternative is
allowed only for noncommercial distribution and only if you
received the program in object code or executable form with such
an offer, in accord with Subsection b above.)

The source code for a work means the preferred form of the work for
making modifications to it. For an executable work, complete source
code means all the source code for all modules it contains, plus any
associated interface definition files, plus the scripts used to
control compilation and installation of the executable. However, as a
special exception, the source code distributed need not include
anything that is normally distributed (in either source or binary
form) with the major components (compiler, kernel, and so on) of the
operating system on which the executable runs, unless that component
itself accompanies the executable.

If distribution of executable or object code is made by offering
access to copy from a designated place, then offering equivalent
access to copy the source code from the same place counts as
distribution of the source code, even though third parties are not
compelled to copy the source along with the object code.

I'm saying this not for any personal gain, but because if you are reported as violating the GPL, you may lose the right to bundle GPL apps with yours, and may lose the right to publish XviD4PSP under the GPL.

Also, it should be noted that the source code of all included GPL programs must also be included in the source code, whether or not they were modified for your release.

Read it again - the source doesn't HAVE to come with the program, merely be available somehow. Many places make you ask for the source. Most put the source in a separate arc available someplace else. It's rare that GPL programs have both the bin and src in the same arc. Even the linux kernel doesn't do that.

I don't know what you've changed in your latest version, but it seems to run quite a bit better for me then it used to. I used to have about a second of lag every time I clicked on a toolbar option ("File", "Video", etc.), but now that lag is completely gone! The only thing I'm still having problems with is the preview lags quite a bit, but that's most likely because of my crappy video card.

Winnydows, when I start an encoding batch on my PC it encodes just fine. However, when I log in to my PC using a Remote Desktop session (MSTSC). The encoding of the file that is already in progress will continue just fine. All the other files that are next in the batch won't encode because the audio codec isn't present! This is because it will use a seperate audio driver (I think) for the Remote Desktop session.

Is there a way to fix this so I can check on the progress of the batch that I set up for encoding?

i am doing the exact same as you
convert avis to mp4 for my ps3
and i always use .ssa because i need different fonts in one mp4

all betas read ssa subs
because it has nothing to do with xvid4psp
you must only write it in your avisynth script (denoise/sharpen)

just ad the lines:
loadplugin("C:\Programme\Winnydows\XviD4PSP5\dlls\AviSynth\plu gins\VSFilter.dll")

(example)
textsub("C:\01\01.ssa")

P.S.:
in my beta 22
when i have C:\01\001.avi
and C:\01\001.ssa

and i load the avi xvid4psp creates automaticly:

import("C:\Programme\Winnydows\XviD4PSP5\dlls\AviSynth\fun ctions\AudioFunctions.avs")
import("C:\Programme\Winnydows\XviD4PSP5\dlls\AviSynth\fun ctions\VideoFunctions.avs")
loadplugin("C:\Programme\Winnydows\XviD4PSP5\dlls\AviSynth\plu gins\VSFilter.dll")

i open up preview.avs and there where no filter input so tried placing YV12 or YUY2 then open the video file again and same error. so i just switch to FFmpeg, works fine in there.

edit: btw, i'm converting avi file.

I try to convert dvd to mp4 but i have a problem with the subs. The steps i do.

1)Rip the DVD with DVD-Shrink in re-author mode, i select the main movie only and i make sure to select the subs i want.

2)I click the DVD button in xvid4psp and the subtitles option is set to disabled and i can't select them. I try to convert the movie and it didn't have any subs. Do i need to extract them first or anything?

I am using the latest 4th version of xvid4psp and win xp sp2.

Edit- At last after spending a lot of time i manage to do it correctly. I will describe the steps i do, so if anyone has any objections to that method can give me a further help.

1)As usual rip the dvd with DVD Shrink, re-author mode, i select the main movie and the subs/audio i want.

2)Vobsub and select the correct IFO file and let it do it's job. In the end i get a IDX/SUB file.

3)Open the the VOB's in xvid4psp, it automatically join them and last step after xvid4psp loads is to select the idx (if i select the sub i get an error in the avisynth script) and we are ready to start the encode! Actually i didn't encode the movie yet but i am almost sure it would work correct because i can see the subs in preview mode and are working just fine.

Also i have one last question. In the FAQ of this thread it says that we must not use DVD Decrypter because it creates the indexes incorrect. Does this still applies or is it outdated info? I am asking because i think that DVD Shrink can't rip all protected DVD's, only DVD Decrypter can.

If DVD Decrypter still doesn't work correct with xvid4psp, i was wondering if i first rip the protected DVD with DVD Decrypter and then open the ripped files DVD Decrypter created it with DVD Shrink and "re-rip it" again, would it work that way?

winnydows
10-13-2007, 07:02 PM
Now work doesn`t depend on IFO anymore in 5.0 and Decryptor can be used. But in 4.1 still can be problems with Decryptor. Decryptor kill IFO file.

Direct subs from DVD still not ready. But will be soon in 5.0.

Thanks for the help. Too bad, I guess I'll have to try some other software. This did look really promising though.
I decided to try the new beta version (5) and it's working awesome for me! Thanks goodness!!! I've tried so many applications and finally have found the perfect solution. I can't believe how automatic it is and that it automatically crops the video properly when needed (ie, 2.35:1). This was the one feature I wanted the most.

Holy crap. Finally! AWESOME!!!

Thanks winnydows, amazing work! Donation coming shortly.

Just ran into a problem. I think I'm cursed or something! :(

I got the following error when trying to convert an avi file, it came up at what looks like the very end of the convertion job.

http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/7223/xvid4psperrorfq4.png

Here is the log as well.

http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/3519/xvid4psplogun5.png

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! :)

Edit: I'm thinking it has something to do with the long filename? I tried downloading and converting a few divx movie trailers and they are working fine. I'll change the filename and try again perhaps...

I'm having the same problem. I'll talk about it below. Everything seems to go fine. I don't get why this message appears. Its like its saying it can't find the file that it didn't even successfully finish creating.

Hi Winnydows,

Tried converting an episode of Heroes (TV SHow) The episode details are as follows:

Heroes.S02E03.HDTV.XViD-**** (**** is the release group or whatever I guess so I'll block it out)

- Source: 1080i HDTV
- Frame Rate: 23.976FPS
- Resolution: 624x352

I use 3.30 x.264 PSP settings with the 2-pas 512 Ultra setting and it goes through both passes and everything seems great. Its at the very end I get an error saying the file I just tried to create could not be found. WHat's up with that? I tried saving the converted file in the same folder as the source to see if that would help and still had same issues. I did 2 previous episodes of the same show with no problems. But for some reason nothing is working for this particular episode/file.

Any ideas? Thanks for any help. And thanks for this app. 5.000 beta is awesome.

So I renamed the file to something shorter (with no spaces or special characters) and put it on my desktop instead of in a sub folder. The conversion worked! So I guess it has something to do with one of those two things.

i know the zune program finds mp4 files but when you send them to the zune it converts them to wmv... maybe have xvid4psp convert videos to wmv format too..

hey winnydows i'm having a problem converting an xvid movie with xvid4psp. When I play this movie in windows media player it works fine, there is a bout 22 seconds of copy write warnings, then the movie starts. When I load it in xvid4psp, the copy write warnings are there, but the audio starts immediately instead of waiting for the 22-23 seconds like it should, thereby making the whole movie out of sync. Any ideas why it works in media player and not xvid4psp?

That's not possible, you can only add the subtitles or not add them before converting the video with xvid4psp. PSP doesn't support any kind of "soft-subbing", except if you use official UMD movies:D The subtitles you see in PSP after the conversion are burned in the video and there is no way you can remove them.

sorry, how?

and how to yellow color for subtitle psp?

You need an external program to edit the .srt subtitles before converting the video with xvid4psp. I recommend this one

Can you please add Native Zune Support?

1. Natively Supported Formats for Zune Devices
The following codecs and formats can be synchronized and played back on the Zune device.
WMV 7/8/9 - up to 320x240 and 1.692 Mbps
WMA - up to 320 Kbps, CBR and VBR, up to 48-kHz sample rate
MP3 - up to 320 Kbps, CBR and VBR, up to 48-kHz sample rate
AAC (.mp4, .m4a, .m4b, .mov) - up to 320 Kbps, Low Complexity (LC), up to 48-kHz sample rate
Pictures - JPEG (.jpg) up to 640x480

2. Video Formats and Sync Time
* If the video/audio files meet the limitation mentioned above, you can transfer to Zune software and sync to Microsoft Zune player super fast.
* If the files are WMV, MP4, H.264, MPEG-4 or MP3, WMA, AAC formats (but exceed the limitation), you can still transfer them to Zune software and sync to Zune devices. But, the sync time is fairly longer because the files will be converted to the formats natively supported by Zune player during the sync process.

Actually, it won't be useless for slim users who want to output to TV. :)

Question for everyone. What are some optimal settings to reduce blocking in dark scenes? I don't care about the length of the convertion as I have a pretty speedy Core 2 Duo CPU and I can leave it overnight. I just watched a movie with lots of dark scenes and the blocks were extremely noticable. Quite annoying. :(

Yes, stupid me. Sure enough codex/directX not installed correctly. Everything seems OK now. Thanks for you help and patience.

And thanks for all of your work and continued updates.

EDIT:Well, I was able to Encode a couple files but not without a workaround. I was getting I/O errors and the only way so far to avoid that was to put the files on my desktop, rename them to something short & simple, and then save the encoded file also on the desktop.

Any ideas on this I/O error that occurs at the end of encoding?

Is ver 5.023 uses multi-threading? cause I have both ver 4 and 5 installed but the cpu usage for ver 5 is only hovering around 60-70 but the one in version 4 uses almost all the time 96-99 cpu time.

I'm using a mostly similar profile between the two.

Anybody experiencing the same issue?

XviD4PSP is not multithreaded, but that doesn't matter. The video encoder, x264, is. If anything, 5.xxx will use a later build of x264, meaning more multithreaded encodes.

Make sure your AviSynth script is the same too.

Winnydows, it doesn't appear that this app lets you pick a specific frame or "custom" .THM file - The small image that displays when navigating your Video directory on the PSP.

It would be cool to use the slider to pick a specific frame to use as the .THM

Is that something easy to implement and would you consider it? Or are there other easier alternatives to making your own custom .THM files?

@winnydows: Okay, I'll do it. You want all the profiles tested?
I have an iPod 5G, but 5.5G and 5G have the exact same video support. The only difference is debated on, but here's what I have surmised:

5G had deblocking, but made some videos not play or play choppy due to lack of processing power. 5.5G disabled deblocking. You can still use x264 videos with deblocking, the deblocking just won't happen. They might still do deblocking for QVGA videos, not sure.

@winnydows: I recommend adding
--b-pyramid[/COFE] to Xbox 360 and PS3 x264 profiles. There is no performance hit, and quality increases are noticeable, especially with more B-VOPs.

What it does is allow B-VOPs to reference other B-VOPs.

The PSP cannot do this, so I don't think anything like the iPod, iPhone, or a cell phone could do it.
--8x8dct is another good tag for Ultra and above. High profile only (Xbox 360/PS3).

You can convert from a soft subbed video, but you cannot use soft subs on the PSP. They will be hardcoded in.

Try yourself.

And for quality, best quality will be 3 pass Extreme, but 2 pass Ultra is best efficency. For even faster do 1 pass Ultra.

Uh, it would REALLY help if you said something about your computer. If you have a 400 MHz P2 with 64MB of RAM, don't expect lightning fast encodes. If you have the latest Intel Quad core overclocked to 3.5 GHz with 8GB of memory, then maybe you should wonder about the slow speeds. But you have said nothing, so we can tell you nothing.

If in name exists 1, 2,... on same position, files will be auto added to join list. With file add possible join files with any names.

@Chocolinx
Best way way get correct sync - use DirectShowSource decoder. But this metod can produce desync on some files or always if you have problem with installed codecs. In this case use FFmpegSource decoder, but many files need delay correction in this case.

@Ranguvar
In this update iPod profiles set to MAX of iPod Touch, probably will don`t work on iPod 5, 5.5 (level 3.0, ref 6).
Test please just Extreme and Ultra profiles (Quality and Bitrate type).
Extreme profile use high deblocking, what you think about it? I understand your words as - deblocking useless for iPod. Right ?
--b-pyramid work fine on XBOX 360, PS3 ?
--8x8dct and --i8x8 missed in XBOX 360 and PS3 profiles. Thanks will add it.

spent the last couple of hours testing out converters for my ipod touch and everything else is just crap. I'm serious, winnydows, this is by far the cleanest, most efficient and elegant solution around. can't believe it's free.

although it worked perfectly (at least on the tested resident evil dvdrip), I got a couple of questions;

- the touch could do 640x480, but the installed profiles use 480xX max, why is that?

- I actually changed that in the script since most of my tv shows and a lot of movies are 640 or below I figured it would speed up the transcoding process but in fact, an xvid (original size 640x272) that had the HQ Turbo profile applied did only 2fps compared to the same xvid using your unchanged HQ Turbo profile which did 30+fps. to me that doesnt make any sense. by removing resize from the avisynth script and therefore leaving the video dimensions untouched it should lessen the transcoding job and not increase it, right? meaning, it should be a lot faster than when resize is applied.....

- finally, a bit of a n00b question....there is no way to just take all xvids (my understanding is, it's a mpg4 codec too) and repack them into another container than avi and have them play on the ipod touch without having to transcode everything, right?

cheers for now. keep up the amazing work!

Ranguvar
10-27-2007, 06:58 PM
@hypa: Not a noob question, most noobs don't eben know that Xvid is indeed an MPEG-4 codec. Unfortunately, "repacking" (transmuxing) the Xvid AVI into an MP4 won't work. This is because Xvid is 99% of the time an MPEG-4 ASP (Advanced Simple Profile) codec. The iPod only supports MPEG-4 SP (Simple Profile) and an extremely restricted form of MPEG-4 AVC (Advanced Video Coding, aka H.264).

@winnydows: If the Xbox 360 and PS3 are High Profile as they claim, then yes. I have tested with Xbox 360 for sure, and I think I tested with the PS3. I'm not too sure about iPod deblocking. There's many different opinions. I reference: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=127611&page=2 http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=115917&page=3 http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=130254&page=2 Sorry, I must go quickly. I will probably read through those more thoroughly later. I will test the iPod today, results tomorrow. I have a 5G.

@chocolinx: Best way to get DirectShow working correctly is to uninstall ALL codecs and codec packs, and then install ffdshow, making sure to check all codecs for decoding. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/ffdshow.cfm

@ranguvar, thanks, I assumed this would be the case - well, once someone cranks out a player app and a photo app that doesnt need to be synced and indexed by itunes we'll find out what the touch is really capable of (and maybe, just maybe, it plays xvids natively) ;)

as for all my other questions, they have been answered by winnydows during a skype chat. so thanks to all

oh, for those interested, winnydows sent me an "unlocked" beta built that allows to easily convert an xvid to a h264 mp4 using the touch profile with sizes up to 720x576. and yes, that file plays smoothly and flawlessly on the touch and syncs through itunes.

would anyone know why I get this error?

Error: Could not find file 'G:\-=incoming=-\The.Matrix.Reloaded.2003.iNTERNAL.DVDRip.XviD.AC3 .CD1-XviK.mp4'.

it always happens at 98%. I got auto-join turned on since I assumed it means CD1 & CD1 will be joined into one mp4 file.

I guess it looks like the application cannot find the first encoded part to join the second. or does 98% progress mean of both files cumulated? then it would have to be something else.

and the above mentioned mp4 is really nowhere to be found on my harddrives. like it got deleted by the app. but I checked when the process started, the file was created originally.

Sorry in advance if these features are already in 5.0, I'm still on 4.1.1.5:

- Cut encoding when video is done (currently keeps on encoding till the audio is done)
- Ability to shift video to sync with audio if needed.

Those are basically the only two things I noticed that would be nice. Also I have a question about the x264 codec used to encode. Where is it coming from? FFMPEG? Or a sparate x264 build like www.x264.nl ? When I open up my videos and check the info it says something about Quicktime and www.apple.com codec.

Is there much difference from the one in xvid4psp and x264.nl? The ones from x264.nl read as MPEG4_AVC when you open them.

Encoding video only already in 5.0 too - set audio profile to Disabled.
Delay option already in 5.0.

Release now because many good fixes and additions in 5.024, can`t wait. XviD will be ready in 5.025, MP3 already done in 5.024.

@rc_square24: Get meGUI and update it. Go to Tools > D2V Creator. Choose Demux all audio tracks, and choose OK. Start the job.

You should now have a D2V and two MPAs. The MPAs are your audio.

Open the extracted MPG from before in XviD4PSP. Go to Audio > Edit filtering script. Look for a line that says something like:
audio = NicMPASource("C:\somefolder\somename.mpa")

Delete it. If you have more than one, delete them all. Also look in the AudioDub line right below and make sure it says:
AudioDub(video, audio) Now, paste in a new line where the old NicMPASource used to be. Make it say:
audio = NicMPASource("PUTTHEFULLPATHOFWHERETHEAUDIOMPAFROMMEGUIISHERETRY BOTHUBTILYOUGETTHERIGHTAUDIOTRACK.mpa")
Whewh. I hope you don't have to do more than one.

If it doesn't work, please paste in your script unaltered.

Only one mpa track was extracted with 'extract all' mode (and still it is the mixed audio). And when I open the MPEG in xvid4psp and select this mpa as the audio it gives me an error when previewed (it gave a red error (can't read what it was) and wont play).

What I am doing now and works is:

- Use meGUI to extract the audio (like you suggested)

- Open the mpa with Audacity and split the track to left and right channels

- Copy the waveform of the channel you want (L/R) paste it on the channel you don't want, making both channels the same.

- Export it as MP3

- Convert the MPEG to PMP

- Convert PMP to PMP but selecting the MP3 you exported with Audacity as the audio this time.

I had to do the last step the above way because of the error I keep getting if I mux the MP3 when converting from MPEG to PMP/MP4, it only works when the source is PMP.

Thanks for the help guys.

Recommendations:

- Clean out C:\Temp first
- Make sure neither input nor output is in C:\Temp or the Desktop, and neither has a long name or one with odd characters

I'm using Xvid4PSP 5.024. when I opened a TS file, I got this error message: Don't know how decode CO / 110 AudioTrack ID!
Is it because I'm missing an audio codec or something else? if I played that TS file with media player classic, the audio is AAC on details properties.

XviD4PSP 5.024 beta update (http://winnydows.com/download/xvid4psp/XviD4PSP_5024_beta_update.exe)

mp4box support only 71 symbol in out path. Added auto cut for this. (Deaf Raiders problem)
CO / 110 will decode as ID 1 now, it may help. If don`t try don`t use indexing for this file.
Also this patch add compatibility with 64-bit systems.

Folks ..

I am on version 4.1.1.5. I noticed that some of the converted videos have instances where there are reddish smears during motion. What setting do I use to get rid of this???

Will upgrading to the latest version increase the quality of the videos???

Thanks.

This is bad side of DirectShowSource. You can try two ways:
shure help - FFmpegSource as decoder
may help - try edit script and remove ", convertfps = true".

DirectShowSource
AVIFileSource
AVISource
OpenDMLSource

winnydows

Really different only this two: DirectShowSource, AVISource.
DSS - decode with postpocessing (deblocking, etc.).
AS - clear decode, but need ACM decoders for some codecs (AC3, etc.).

"There was a problem loading data: Could not load file or assembly 'System.EnterpriseServices.Wrapper.dll' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified"

or when exiting the program, I get
"There was a problem saving data: bla bla bla"

Also the program gets stuck all the time while converting. Is it possible to have the program skip the file in which it is making zero progress and move on to the next file instead of having the other files in a waiting status?

Because I hate Xvid, I'm not satisfied of the encoding quality and also as I bought a licence, it would be nice to use it."Because I hate it" is not logical.

Besides, Xvid has beaten DivX Pro in every public codec test since 2003, including Doom9's Codec Shootout. Sorry that you can't use your license for something, but there's the facts. Bad quality in Xvid probably means you didn't enable deblocking, which is on by default in DivX but not in Xvid. Go to Start > Programs > Xvid > Decoding Settings and enable all four or so checkboxes for deblocking.

"While DivX has long been renowned for its excellent video quality, its free and open source equivalent Xvid today offers even more advanced quality, also based on MPEG-4 Part 2 (MPEG-4 ASP). In a series of subjective quality tests at Doom9.org, the DivX codec has been successively beaten by Xvid every year since 2003" - Wikipedia on DivX

@winnydows:
Please do not spend time adding DivX, there is no reason to, and it's good to support open source free efforts like Xvid.
Are you using a build by Cef? Koepi's 1.2 SMP builds are very outdated. Also, do you have a true multicore CPU? And you set the number of threads?

@all:
I'm hearing mutterings about another Xvid update with good speed increases (xvid-dev mailinglist). Stay tuned.

Xvid isn't good for making FullHD video. I know mp4 is better for that, but many computer cannot handle FullHD mp4.
Also Doom9's Codec Shootout is 2 years old and I prefer to change my encoder than changing my codecs.

@Lenmaer
Anyway XviD better for HD, than DivX. All DivX devices can play XviD if dont use bframes and some more check boxes.
XviD better for quality.
DivX better for speed.
But in Extreme mode XviD will be faster than DivX too.

Hi winnydows, i found out how to change the thumbnail or as i tunes called it artwork. I spent little time on the enternet and found a tutorial on how to change album art work for songs thru iTunes and applied the same way to the videos. All i had to do was right click on the video and select Art Work. I was really surprised that before i found that tutorial i called apple and one of the techs said that it couldnt be done. Well any way i just wanted to post that in case any one else wanted to do the same and i thank you for your help!

@fran1987
You can easy translate it:
Copy /XviD4PSP5/languages/English.txt to /XviD4PSP5/languages/Spanish.txt and translate each second line.

@SHADOW-XIII
In Turbo only ?

Think problem in movie. Some bad movies possible sync only with FFmpegSource+Delay.

Is it possible to know when the word "Final release" will be on this program ?
This beta phase is really too long, even Microsoft spent less time to develop Vista :):)

winnydows
11-08-2007, 05:13 PM
Vista developed few years, XviD4PSP 5.0 just 7 month :).
Still few feautures left for Final:
MPEG2 encoding
FLV encoding
LossLess encoding (Huff, FFV1)
Trim (Cut) feauture
Freeze on OpenDialog must be fixed
Subs extraction.
Any way final will be very soon (one month more). As you can see 4.1 already removed from web site.

Any way develiping not stop after Final out. My TODO for 5.0 for few years and in each month TODO more and more (I really need help from someone, have much more ideas than time).

Hi winnydows, I was wondering one thing, I've used xvid4psp 4.1.1.5 and beta 5.025, and I noticed one thing thats different. When I would open a video file to convert I had the output option to change the aspect ratio to 16:9 aspect with a resolution of 720x480 for psp videos, but in the new version I can't get the same resolution without the aspect being put as 1:1, and every time I change it back to 16:9 the resolution goes back down to 480x272. I was wondering if you could please fix this. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work on this awesome program.

Is there really such thing as a Final Release? How many "critical" updates do you need to regularly perform on Windows after their supposed "Final Releases" ???

People should really be thankful and appreciative that Winnydows works so hard and gives such frequent updates. To give an app like this a Final Release would be cheating its potential. There will likely always be something that could be added, tweaked, streamlined, etc. As long as Winnydows is being generous to develop this, there shouldn't be any complaints.

Winny, how come you decided to change the layout?

I loved the old layout since that and the settings were extremely straightforward . Were people complaining about it or something?

Anyways, what does Add-Remove do and is there a way to create a queue that would automatically start like the older versions?

I just installed the 5.025 but when I click on the open button, my whole computer freezes and I have to do a hard reboot. I tried it twice and same thing. Anybody else having difficulties like this?

There's a few things that aren't working for me in 5.0:

Add Wav Audio (Where is it?)
Delay (Auto 3.75 why?)
I liked the old layout better lol
Subtitles don't auto load anymore either.

Also, how come some of my videos do not convert? They give me an error.

They open up perfectly fine in Windows Media Player and VLC.

I am a big fan of the old format but i do really like 5.025 beta, its really nice. At first it took some time to get use to, but now that i really know how to use it i think its better than 4.115 and it looks like a program you professionally buy from a store! I think that people should be thankful because i know i am, this program has come a long way and i am glad that it gets frequent updates. I just got an iPod touch and winnydows updated his program to include iPod touch conversion. If some people doubt that this is one of the best programs compare it to others and see for your selfs because i have and xvid4psp left all others in the dust! So with that said i thank you winnydows and keep up the good work!

You're right, it will become my favorite program, once it can extract subs from DVD.

I'd also just like to thank winnydows for making a fantastic piece of software. :D I have an iPod Touch and have tried MANY different DVD > iPod convertors, but Xvid4PSP is giving me superb results!

I personally didn't use the 4.x release, but think the new interface is great - does the job, but I realise it's a very personal thing. You're not gonna please everyone.

I have already recommended it in the iPod Touch Forums and am looking forward to future developments of this program. :)

Thanks once again!

It can play this kind of videos, sorry but I can"t really tell you more, motorola doesn't say anything about video quality, format and résolution on their website, Anyway I found 3 resolutions size, 128x96, 176x144, 352x288.
First picture here is one made with the phone, with max resolution and quality. And the other pictures, are working videos made by other phones.

Hi winny:)
I have a suggestion for you. Once you have completed the first "final release" of the family 5.x could you integrate in Xvid4PSP an audio converter type waw to mp3, waw to ogg and alla the other possible combinations?. Maybe it is a stupid request, however, would not be bad.

Another thing, you may implement a option for putting two audio tracks in pmp avc?
Thanks.

Two audio tracks will be added for many formats.
Audio only encoding in my TODO, because i don`t know any good audio encoder. Most what I try is buggy. So it will be too. But after final version I think.
