I think problem in unusual input resolution of your file. I need info from MediaInfo tool.
Hi Winnydows,
MediaInfo reads:
AVI file, 700 MB, 1 hour 33 min
1 Video Stream: XviD
883 Kbps, 640x352 (16/9), at 25.000 fps, XviD (VBOP)
1 Audio Stream: MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3
141 Kbps, 2 Channels, MPEG-1 Audio layer 3 (Joint Stereo)

E will edit all settings. Not ready now. Encoding edit will be ready very soon.
Thanx for the reply, keep up the excellent work!

is it me or anyone getting I/O error right before muxing the audio and video when converting video to Ipod..
it does work when i reinstall xvid4psp and launch it at the end of install (options to launch after install ticked or whatever).. but after that, i'm still getting I/O errors... so i have to launch install it to have it working.. :(

Install XviD 1.1.3
@oOSeY
User rights problem. Or UAC if you use Vista.

@winnydows:
Unfortunately I lack the experience to make an entire port myself. I am guessing that you would not like the source to be shared online openly? Because if that were possibly maybe something could be done with others. If not that's fine.
I would still love to lok at the source, but know that most likely nothing will get done. If you want IRL information about me or anything else so you can be sure I won't give out the source, that's probably fine.
I have a PS3, iPod, PSP, Xbox 360, and Wii. I can test anything you want.
The Xbox 360 as of the May Dashboard Update and Optional Media Update has the same AVC playback capabilities as the PS3 as of Firmware Update v1.82, excepting the PS3's ability to use thumbnails. (AVC High profile Level 4.1, AAC-LC, no 5.1 audio)
The Wii plays Motion-JPEG, not sure what type, not even sure if you want to make a converter for the Wii, I doubt it (Motion JPEG is terrible).
Also, could Direct Stream Copy for input media containing MP3 audio be added to MP4 PSP? I believe the PSP still plays MP4's with MP3 audio, a stream copy is higher quality than recompressing to AAC.
And is there possibility of MKV output and/or Ogg Vorbis output for normal AVC encoding? Ogg Vorbis, you probably know, is the best audio codec for over 96kb/s audio. AoTuV Beta 5 (or the Lancer-optimized build of it) is the best encoder. Vorbis is free and open-source, it is based on wavelets. You probably know this.
Thanks very much, sorry if any of these features are already in 5.0, I have not had time to test out 5.0, I am still on 4.114 but will update for testing if needed.
@oOSeY: winnydows is probably correct, but also try renaming the file; use a small+simple filename for input and output. Also make sure neither input nor output is at the Desktop or in the same folder, and try clearing out C:\TEMP before starting XviD4PSP. Most of these cause no problems normally but do sometimes with a similar error to yours.

I would also like to see a linux port of Xvid4PSP...i like it the best by far of all the encoders! would help me in eliminating Windows entirely. :p
@Ranguvar Over in the PSP Movie/Media section, a user named Eyes-Killer (i think) has been working on a Linux based encoder. I haven't tried it yet and it isn't as comprehensive (yet) as Xvid4PSP, but maybe a start?

From what I've seen I think the Prada needs the video in the .3GP container, could be a step towards finding the solution.

just to let you know winny, it still keeps saying unknown on the prada.
don't know what else to try. any ideas?
Winny please find below the settings I used in 4.1.1.5
-of avi -ovc xvid -xvidencopts max_bframes=1:turbo:vhq=2:bvhq=1:chroma_opt:quant_ type=mpeg:pass=1:threads=2 -nosound
-of avi -ovc xvid -xvidencopts bitrate=768:max_bframes=1:vhq=2:bvhq=1:chroma_opt: quant_type=mpeg:pass=2:threads=2 -nosound
also in the avs the screen res is 400x240
KinghtORC, these are the setting I have used using 4.1.1.5, but these settings wont work under 5.0.
MP4 work fine, XVID seems to work better than H.264
Any ideas how this can be done under the new version of this program?

New version still hasn't got support for mencoder, so no H.263/DivX/XviD output possible yet. I'm sure once we figure out what the exact format it needs for H.264 video it will be much better anyway.
Don't expect 5.0 to add new things too fast, Winnydows is very busy with other things IRL so development is a low priority for now.

Reason ? Profiles ?
I think about clear use of xvidvfw.dll.

@winnydows:
It's really just selfish, I hate working with mencoder's CLI. xvid_encraw I know much better. I also believe it's faster.
I am making new profiles for Xvid/DivX and PSP, PS3, and 360 encoding that I believe are superior. I will hopefully submit them tomorrow for your consideration.

Ok i'm having a problem recently. I don't know what happened, but it must be something to do with a recent Windows Vista update or something
Xvid4PSP was working perfectly. Always has been. Then suddenly, since yesturday it just refuses to load. Each time i try it immediatly says that it has stopped working.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing everything, even codecs and stuff. I can't get anything to work. Same with the new beta.
Anyone had a similar problem?

May be problem with framework or with settings or with system drive.
Reset settings.
Check system drive - my computer - c: - options - tools - make check and fix.
If it not help, try install framework 3.5. (don`t know how reinstall 3.0 in Vista).

Like always - problem in your decoding codecs. But don`t worry, soon will be added two alternative imports. They will fix problem with some files and problems with codecs.

No changes for prada in this version. Need finish some other staff.
Max res for prada set 400x240, but out res depend on aspect. If res set 400x224 - mean it`s good for save aspect.

@winnydows:
Using Xvid, Prada supports full ASP. Works with up to 3 BVOPs tested (2 is best for Xvid), etc. Packed bitstream not tested, not needed. GMC does not work. QPel works, but makes video too choppy. Both H.263 and MPEG quantizers work.
I will now try to find AVC settings, I will try MP4 and 3GP containers...
Max Prada Xvid mencoder CLI (2-pass):

Hello all,
I have had very good luck with this program encoding for the PSP (DVD -> PSP 3.30, SeeSaw, x264, 480x272 2-pass ultra). However, when the videos are played back on my computer (Quicktime), my PS3, and my TViX 4100SH, the video is ever so slightly jumpy. It reminds me of the days when I was converting to VideoCD format and the 3:2 pulldown wasn't quite right.
Usually this only shows up in full screen motion scenes. Has anyone else seen this effect? Has anyone overcome it?
Thank so much!

Sounds very much like you are having 25 -> 23.976/29.97 (or vice versa) problems like you suspect. What region/framerate is the source and what does it say about the output video framerate?
It is possible that the framerate is being incorrectly detected (or the source has a bad info/header problem that claims a wrong framerate), check what it says in the Info tab and what it says in the Advanced tab, see if they are what you expect them to be.

Hi Winny,
I've been using your a program since a very long time ago....
The problem is that I've successfully installed the new 5.0 beta 15 lite...but every time I tried to start it it says
"XviD4PSP has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost"
I've tried almost everything. Re install it. re-install Avisynth 2.5.7, reinstall xvid 1.1.3. and lastly, I've even reinstall .NET 3 from windows update.
Still I'm not able to start the program.
I'm using Windows XP, I'm the admnistrator and I've already uninstally the previous version of xvid4psp.
Please help me here.
EDIT:
FYI, I have no problem running xvid4psp 4.1.1.5

If you don`t have problems with 4.1, mean you have problems with Framework 3.0.
Uninstall, reboot.
Try redownload.
Install.
If don`t help try Framework 3.5.
May be problem in uninstalling 4.1 ?
Install 5.0 after uninstalling 4.1.
Try this demo for framework 3.0:

i tried the new xvid4psp5 its kinda laggy on the previews and i cant change the output resolution
also if you preview a video and hit encode it still plays the video while encoding dramatically slowing down encoding time
and btw wen i said subtitles didnt work i meant on xvid4psp4.5 or whatever version is the latest i forgot lol
it just wont preview the video with the subtitles and it wont encode the subtitles onto the video

Work with output resolution in progress now. IN latest beta you already can do this, but it look dirty.
You can close file after strat encoding or set to pause.

@Lenmaer: Unsure. Does it crash on loading the file or on encoding?
@Julian.18:
These lines near the beginning look suspicious to me:
vbitrate: 4834 > 0
abitrate: 414 > 0
samplerate: 0 > 48000
channels: 0 > 2
0 values don't sound good.
Alright, how's this.
Try again, and this time, look in C:\Temp when it gets the error. Look for a *.m4a, *aac, *.mp4 file, tell me if there is one.
I'm guessing File I/O error, but it may also be bad audio encoding.
One more thing to try:
- Clear out C:\Temp before encoding.
- Keep input and output filenames the same and both are simple.
- Have neither be in C:\Temp.
- Have neither be in the Desktop.
And one last thing -
Try not using DirectShowSource for the audio decoding.

K
I just did wat you said
Thre is no *.m4a, *aac, *.mp4 file in the Temp folder
The only think thing that was there were some avisynth scripts
I cleared the Temp folder and it still wouldnt work
Do you know wat the problem might be?

Hi Winny,
I've been using your a program since a very long time ago....
I've had the same problem with version 4.1. It used to work fine several months ago, but when I tried it out recently I got the same error message immediately upon startup.
I tried installing 4.1.1.5, but during the install process I get this message:
"Error opening file for writing: C:\WINDOWS\system32\msvcp70.dll (Abort/Retry/Ignore)"
Is this a known problem? I want to stick to version 4.1 for now, since I've been happy with it and don't want to use a beta just yet.
Thanks,
Josh

@Julian.18: Try the other things I suggested.
Does this only occur with one input file, one type of input file, or everything?
@Lenmaer: New guess. Are you on 5.0? And, did you install the lite? If so, you need to install Xvid v1.1.3. Otherwise, there's a codec problem. Did you uninstall K-Lite, Ace, Xvid, DivX, and any other codec/codec packs - and KEEP them uninstalled?
@Staedtler: I've long noticed that XviD4PSP has problems with the write-protected files it installs, later versions are sometimes unable to overwrite them.
That one you can safely Ignore. It's part of the Visual Basic 6.0 Runtimes, and won't ever be updated again.

Is there a way to get Xvid4PSP 4.115 put out a subtitle file that's compatible with the PMPlayer Advance?
Like maybe change the format from idx-sub to srt?
Because I'm having problems with a set of dual audio MKV files with embedded subs where the subs DON'T show up in the final PMP file. I tried using the idx-sub files that were made when the subs were extracted, but it crashed the PMP player.
I'd really rather have it hardsubbed, but that's not working for some reason, the final file doesn't have any subs in it, and yes, I've enabled the options, and it works for other sets of files without problems.
I won't be using version 5.000 until it supports PMP-AVC output.

Quality is equal given the same settings.
MP4 runs at 222mHz. No position saving, no volume or brightness boosts, no subtitle support, and no dual audio support...........
PMPlayer Advance runs at only 120mHz by default, there's position saving after full shutdowns, on the fly volume and brightness boosting, subtitle file support, dual audio channel support, plus you don't need any moronic "hide the porn" plugins with PMP-AVC either because it's files never show up in the XMB........
PMP-AVC is the superior format with the superior player.

I found why xvid4psp 4.114 works and why 4.115 crashes on loading avi (divx) files.
I don't know why, but 4.114 works great with avisynth 2.5.7, and 4.115 crashes.
So I installed 4.115 and avisynth 2.5.6 and now it doesn't crash anymore.

I have just a quick question (it might a little stupid, but still i am n00b to this stuff) can i use xvid or divx (mp4 as the container always of course) and the converted videos will be compatible with PSP? I like very much x264 but i don't have a fast PC (actually i have an old AMD Sempron 2400+) so the encoding takes some time even if i use 1-pass turbo (especially if i set the resolution to 720x480)

PSP's XMB video player supports MPEG4 AVC only not MPEG4 ASP/SP (aka XviD/DivX). If you want to use XviD then you need to use PMP Mod (not PMP Mod AVC/PMPlayer Advance) to play files encoded for it...
My advice is set up your encodes for overnight, makes life simpler for those of us with slower systems. I use a Pent4 2.0Ghz to encode my videos (into PMP AVC format) using 2 Pass Ultra, 768kbit video, 96kbit audio... the results are very good. Similar settings for PSP MP4 (maybe a higher video bitrate for 720x480) should be good (and will balance out the use of Turbo a bit too).

You have two options.
- Convert your videos with XviD4PSP into MP4 format, place the videos under ms0:\VIDEO\. They will show up under the Video > Memory Stick. You need firmware 3.30 or higher (custom firmware works fine).
- Convert your videos with XviD4PSP into PMP format, use a homebrew player to play them. PMP Mod is not recommended, PMPlayer Advance is better.

@KnightOrc: The XMB does support MPEG-4 SP.
So in the end can i convert videos in MP4 Format using xvid or divx as the codec using xvid4psp? Or i can only use x264? As i said i like x264 but it's kind of slow on encoding and that's why i prefer to use (if possible) xvid or divx.
And yes i prefer not to use a homebrew program and copy the videos (after i convert them first of course) and play them using PSP's video player so no need for firmware downgrades/upgrades etc.

Quality is EQUAL given the same settings on either conversion, they're both using the same core to convert with, the same settings, they even come out with the same filesize.
The only way you're going to see any real quality difference is when you push the settings to the max, and that's nothing more than a waste of memstick space.

@Kurgan777: No. When using Ultra or Extreme profiles, MP4 is better. Filesize does not increase due to different settings. Better settings mean longer encode time and better quality at same bitrate. Higher bitrate would mean larger filesize. Nothing else changes filesize noticeably.
@Haruspex: No. Xvid/DivX is MPEG-4 ASP (usually). I recommend either using 1-pass Turbo, adding the --no-cabac tag to the 1-pass Turbo CLI, or using PMP Xvid. I can assist with downgrading/upgrading, PM me. It is extremely safe, especially because the unbricker is now out. You will love it.
@winnydows: Possible use ffdshow VfW output, therefore Xvid, DivX, Snow, MPEG-4, many other formats?
Also, is it possible to allow the profile eidtor to save/load profiles (INI or XML)?
MPEG-4 SP output would also be good for the iPod. iPod's AVC support is limited to the point of unusability. Also, the iPod is extremely finicky with its support. It seems to reject anything when audio and video bitrate EVER exceed 768kb/s at ANY time, and is picky even when that is respected.
Is MP3 Direct Stream Copy for PSP, Ogg Vorbis output, and/or MKV output in the future for XviD4PSP? These features are not important, I know you are busy, but just offering suggestions.
Also a checkbox that adds
--filter 2,1 to the AVC CLI would be good for anime encoding.
Allowing editing of audio CLI and option to not allow bitrate changes to completely wreck the custom CLI you just typed in you be very appreciated.
Again, just my wishlist.

If there's not a way to set Xvid4PSP to output SRT files for the subs, then is there a way to extract the subs from a dual audio MKV file with embedded subs, and have that output be an SRT file???
No matter what I do the subs never show up for this particular set of files. I'm able to set the audio to Japanese like I normally do, and I choose the English subs, the screen goes black while it extracts the subs, but they never show up on the preview screen like other files.

As fast solution will be simple gui to ffmpeg with all ffmpeg codecs and conteiners. If video opened and script created ffmpeg will get video.script. If just run ffmpeg, ffmpeg will open files without AviSynth = 3 times faster encoding.
Will be gui for profiles creating withh all important codec options.
But I`m busy now with aspect window, also found some times small bugs and fix it. Aspect/Res/Black/Crop window 99% ready, volume window ready. So just give me a little more time.

Well, after many-many tests I beleive the problem is in the deinterlacing. If I don't deinterlace, I get the usual interlaced artifacts we all know and (don't) love. If I deinterlace, the picture is studery. I see this on every playback device I own, but not on every movie.
Is there really no one else out there who sees this slight chuga-chuga type motion during playback? It is subtle, so maybe most do not notice, but it really bugs me.
Anyone got a solution?
Thanks,
Camino

@Winnydows
I tried some time ago converting a trailer with Xvid4psp in MP4 mode (codec Divx) resolution 480x272, and it worked without problems in XMB, folder video even with its thumbnail. When I tried it with xvid instead of divx, it was playing awful, jittering, but in DivX without problems. I even think the ME takes action in MPEG4 SP too.
@Kurgan777 and @Ranguvar
I think it's not necessary underclock the PSP when playing videos in XMB. When I compared the same movie, same bitrate, same settings both in PMP and mp4 AVC, the standard battery only lasted 30 minutes more with PMP than with mp4. And I think it has to do with different usage of the ME (mp4 and pmp are not decoded the same way by the chip, due to different design of software: PMP More crisp, mp4 more soften but better deblocking) and I tried the pmp with mp3 audio, so aac decoding also was in the process.
The PSP specification says that the processor works from 1 mhz to 333 mhz. I think the machine internally sets up the speed according to what it needs. I can assure you that mp4 playback is not happening at 222 mhz.
The only thing that really mattered in battery life when playing video was backlight setting: I won 2:30 hours when lowered from level 3 to level 2.That means another movie!
I really miss selectable subtitles in XMB (That's probably not gonna happen) but Im pretty happy with 720x480 resolution and the almost absence of "color cells" that at 480x272 happens when very bright colors appear in contrast with black background.
Regards.

Hi, there. I usually see that effect you mention, my formula it's not deinterlace anything with film texture (mostly movies) and deinterlace only the video material (extras, documentaries). But there are some movies that also show this effect (my NTSC version of Hostel did it in just a couple of scenes). But if any of those cases show up, I'd just encode it again deinterlacing.

Hi dalecooper,
Thanks for the reply. Do you have a formula you run through? How do you determine "film texture?" Every movie (from DVD) I bring up seems to have the same attributes.
The current film I am trying to convert is BeetleJuice. The opening scene where the camera flys through the town shows the most interlaced artifacts. If I leave it interlaced, the artifacts are bad enough where the buildings seem to be in two places at once. If I deinterlace, I get the chuga-chuga motion I hate so much to see.
Should I be targeting a different framerate? Currently everything is in 29.97. I don't know the flexability of the PSP to do another framerate.
So I did a quick test of the difference between TomsMoComp and DeComb. The DeComb filter is a lot smoother. But I don't know why.
Any thoughts?

Hi, Again
If the source framerate is 29.97 (NTSC) I click on the "Force Film" feature in the indexing question. No problems so far, as long as the source is really just 29.97, and not "progressive" (My collection of X-Files and Millennium R1 NTSC have this problem). If it's progressive, my mp4's are jumpy at times if I force film. If not, the other scenes not so jumpy become jumpy... Progressive NTSC it's a pain in the butt.
But "Beetlejuice" should be okay. I would try clicking "Force film" and see (I wouldn't deinterlace at first). As far as framerate goes, PSP accepts probably everyone of them (I don't know if the crappy ones work, like 14.985 or 15.000 fps, they used to), but you shouldn't have any problem with 23.976, 24, 25 or any of the usual.
Let me know if it works. Try ripping only the intro credits from the dvd and convert them. If it doesn't work with forcefilm, try to post a snapshot of your xvid4psp settings.
Regards.

Hi
Is there a way to get a dual audio track when converting to PMP and AVI files please ?
In a future release, will there be something like that : you enter the width you want, and the software defines a height which is equal to width/aspect, or you enter the height, and the software defines a width which is equal to height*aspect ? Because it would be better than aspectfix (which doesn't seem to work for me or ???).

i'm using 4.115 encoding in PMP AVC format.
the speed of encoding is good for me with my P4 2.8mhz.
for a 120 min movie with 2 pass ultra i got ~50fps for 1st pass and ~20fps for the 2nd pass.
but.... the last stage, muxing.
needed ~120min for muxing!
for al the movies i've tried, muxing needed almost the same time of the video lenght.
For me is too strange!
Small try i've made this day is from 5min video. With xvid4psp muxing needed 5min to complete and AVI2PMP needed only a few seconds.
Wat are wrong?

Difficult to try doing that since most video codecs require height and width values to be multiples of 16 or 8 (depending on which codec) as do a lot of filters. The aspect fix with black borders allows you to have a very accurate aspect and a valid width x height.
As for the dual audio, maybe in the future, but its not likely to happen soon since its less commonly used.

I have 3.40 OE-A and can't seem to play or convert video files right, either I don't see file, corrupted or unsuported format... Is there a guide or tutorial?
Im aiming for the best quality with as much less space:)
Use the default MP4 PSP 3.30 settings, should be fine as a starting point.

maybe why xvid4psp use a fantomatic PMP Muxer AVC v1.02? (on jonny leffe's site last version is PMP Muxer AVC v1.01)
i'm using 4.115 encoding in PMP AVC format.
the speed of encoding is good for me with my P4 2.8mhz.
for a 120 min movie with 2 pass ultra i got ~50fps for 1st pass and ~20fps for the 2nd pass.
but.... the last stage, muxing.
needed ~120min for muxing!
for al the movies i've tried, muxing needed almost the same time of the video lenght.
For me is too strange!
Small try i've made this day is from 5min video. With xvid4psp muxing needed 5min to complete and AVI2PMP needed only a few seconds.
Wat are wrong?

10x man, can u plz tell me where and how to put the encoded file in the PSP?

@h_pavon: Videos go into ms0:/VIDEO/. I recommend 2-pass Ultra. 3-pass Extreme is of course the best, but is very marginally better than 2-pass Ultra, and is much slower.
@Dan402: AspectFix is great for PSP at least. It should automatically get the best resolution at that aspect ratio. What is your problem?
@parsifal968: I/O problem... muxing should not take that long. You're sure it takes exactly as long as the video length. That's very weird.
All I can say is to do the normal things...
1. Turn off UAC.
2. Make sure neither the input nor the output is in C:\Temp or the Desktop, make sure both have simple names, and clear out C:\Temp before encoding.
@dalecooper: There's a PRX floating around somewhere that measures the clock speed always... dig around for it if you want, I'm rather busy, sorry.
@aneky: Either bad MKV Splitter or bad AVC decoding. What is the error? Try full uninstall 4.114 and then full install 4.115. Make sure all codecs/codec packs are uninstalled.

@winnydows:
Actually,
--filter 2,1 --no-fast-pskip would be best for a Anime checkbox to add.
--filter 2,1 increases the strength of the in-loop deblocker. Anime responds well to deblocking, whereas actual live-action content would look blurry and less detailed with hat strength of deblocking.
--no-fast-pskip turns off the Fast-PSkip patch that was made in x264 a while back. That patc h made encoding go ~1-2% faster, but can cause blockiness in areas of solid color with a slight gradient - which abound in animated video.

Well, I never noticed anything using "Crop" AspectFix, and I didn't use "Black" because the preview doesn't give something good... But from now I will use "Black" AspectFix checking avs file at that line :
video = video.Lanczos4Resize(720, 308)
btw, what are the differences between all these resizers ?
Ranguvar
08-29-2007, 01:42 PM
Bilinear is insanely fast, but is quite soft, meaning the output will look noticeably softer than the input.
Bicubic is neutral, as in roughly the same sharpness as the original.
Bicubic+ is a little sharper, this is a very good one for general use.
Lanczos4 is a sharp resizer, good for DVDs and high quality sources.
Spline36 is slower than Lanczos4, but is higher quality. Better than Lanczos4, IMO.
The other ones aren't really good for generally usage.
Crop AspectFix will crop the video so that it fits the resolution you chose.
Black AspectFix will fill in everything else in black so that you get that exact resolution. Hard to explain, but try it.
None will simply stretch or vice versa the video to fit the resolution.

no solution, even with muxer 1.01.
for clarity: xvid4psp run in virtualized mode under Altiris SVS but AVItoPMP also run in virtualized mode without problems.

@winnydows: I recently noticed that XviD4PSP is published under the GPL.
While this is of course all good, the GPL requires that the source code be shared along with, or exclusively of, the binary, or that the source code is easily accessed by anyone who wants it.
So could you please make the source code available?

Same in 5.0 ?
Muxer 1.02 use AAC, Jonnys`s muxer use only MP3.
4.1 mux much faster in minimized mode. Try this.
5.0 is perfect whit muxing at lightning speed.
but... missed queues and is useless for me.
4.115 in minimized mode is about 40% faster in muxing
now with the same 5mins video muxing is at ~3mins.
i think is a bad sync problem from muxing frame count and your interface with the progress bar active for muxing process display.
it's possible a 4.115b with this stuff disabled?

Well I am in the need of help, people.
I have Windows Vista Home Premium,
I reciently installed XviD4PSP to it,
well it opens and runs, but when I click the DVD button, or the
Open File button, and choose my file it inmediatly says "The Program Has Stopped Working... It Will Close"
What can I do to fix that?
I need that really urgent because tomorrow I have to make a presentation
about a video I recorded in my dvd camcorder, and I have to rip the
video from the dvd into avi format for editing it in Windows Movie Maker...
I have done this before on another pc, an XP Media Center 2005 one and I didnt faced any problems, but now I got a Vista Home Premium and I dont know what to do to fix it....
It seems that disabling UAC didnt fixed it, since still gives me error message
and then when I close the error the program closes.
So, any recommendation to get it working?
And whats better for Vista, 5.0 or 4.115?

well Im not very familiar with vista!
its 11:40 pm here (of saturday) and I will have to edit that video
this night to present it tomorrow at 1:00 pm (of sunday)
and I dont know how to remove the groove component!
Please this is a very special case since I had XP before and I
didnt wanted to have vista my old pc screwed up and the new one
came with it! damn I hate it most of my programs wont work :O
whats AutoGK?
thanks in advance :)

I dont know if I can bump this (well there has been many hours since my last post):o
Well 6:50 am here guys I disabled User Account Control, Changed the Temp folder from C:/Temp to another, and the output to Documents instead of Desktop
Now XviD4PSP opens the VOB file but when the scene selection screen shows up (my camcorder dvd has 3 scences I will rip each one into an avi) gives me the same error that used to give before, about program stopped working and vista telling me when a fix will be available (thing I dont think so)
Well the only step I have tried unsuccessfully is the uninstall of the so commented groove component... I went to control panel, to programs and there was no groove thing, just the Office Enterprise 2007... so how can I disable groove from control panel? :p
Thanks in advance I have to present the edited video @ 1:00 pm I hope I find an answer soon :)

v 4.1.1.4
I am trying to replace the audio track with another.
I select the COPY codec, which ghosts all the video options, and have selected the new audio track in the Advanced section. I let it run, and after the audio encoding it gives me a "Cannot Delete Script" error. Says someone/thing is using it.
Can someone enlighten me??COPY tells XviD4PSP to not re-encode the audio, and just copy the audio track from the original. This always saves quality.
The video options being grayed out means that the output format you have selected is incompatible with the audio track format. You'll have to re-encode the audio.

Easy PSP Video Converter is a powerful PSP MPEG4 video converter/PSP burner with fast working speed in burning movie to PSP and downloading movie to PSP. You can get this PSP MPEG4 video converter at a very competitive price.
http://www.vista-download.net/audio-video/video-software/
Price. That's the key word there.
I'm not paying for something that I can do for free with simple apps like AviSynth, x264, NeroAacEnc, mp4box.
Besides, your terminology, "burning movie to PSP" suggests that you don't know crap about even file transfer.
Get out of here, spammer.

Prada profile is old. You can now try optimise profile.
Try this profile:
video codec:
x264
video cli:

--pass 2 --bitrate 256 --level 1.3 --no-cabac --merange 12 --direct none --no-b-adapt --qpmin 16 --analyse none --subme 1 --me dia
Create text file in C:\Program Files\Winnydows\XviD4PSP5\presets\encoding\MP4 Prada\video and copy this text in file.
Also set abitrate to 96.
If not help try set more low level. But need set some settings more low.

4.115 dead for me. I totally forget VB and migrate to C#.
XviD take 2 weaks. I think next beta will be with bug fixes and with job list + drag drop + thumbnails + design fixes. And only next beta will be with XviD and with MP3.
Now found temporary solution for PMP - for MP4 will use new NeroAAC, for PMP old NeroAAC. This already done on my machine, but no reason release new version. Still need tune some parts.
Every body who don`t want wait long ffmpeg import - video-decoding-DirectShowSource for AVI and all files. But only ffmpeg import work on any machine, even without codecs.

Numb3rs.S01E09
EDIT: I have just encoded another file and took out any Full Stops "." and it did add .mp4 to the file. So I can only assume that the new version does not like file names with full stops in them. :)
EG. Numb3rsS01E10 works, Numb3rs.S01E09 does not work.
EDIT2: also found that if file name has a full stop in it EG Numb3rs.S01E09 the .jpg ends up with the file name of Numb3rs.jpg the S01E09 is removed:eek:

Appreciate the great program. Using Windows XP SP2.
XviD4PSP (4.115) doesn't seem to work when one connects remotely using Remote Desktop. The program suddenly can't parse video files because it can't find the video hardware.
XviD4PSP5 keeps humming along though but can't queue.
Is there anyway to get this working with 4.x in order to remotely schedule and manage jobs?

I managed to encode a movie now without the errors. I just renamed the file to a more simple name.
But now I have another issue. The sound when people talk in the movie is only coming out from the left channel. Everything else, special effects and music is coming from both speakers. Is there something wrong with my set up? In my audio settings in xvid4psp5 there is a logo of Nero digital. Is this the codec that's being used. Says DTS > AAC.

Problem in FFmpegSource decoder. Need wait fix in this plugin or try use other decoder, but all other decoders depend on your codec pack, so you will codec pack, klite or cccp if you choose DirectShowSource as decoder.
Or may be problem in downmixing. I check it later, I have same type file.

Thanks for the reply, Winnydows!
I investigated and found that it is due to how Remote Desktop and Terminal Services work and how it does not actually allow remote control but instead opens up a virtual login using Terminal Services that does not initialize video hardware. 4.xxxx seems to require detection and use of actual hardware every time a job is processed or an App is called to process the video strangely where 5.xxxx does not directly check for it.
I will use VNC or Famatech Remote Admin instead of Windows Remote Desktop.
I had to boot to XP to use 4.xxx though since 4.xxxx crashed Vista 75% randomly when opening files (I wish there was a way to disable preview window, or autoplaying when opening files) with ntdll.dll, even with Groove uninstalled (I only had CCCP installed) ...oh well. 4.xxx works well enough in XP.
Big props to you for your continued efforts, Winnydows and I want to let you know that it's very appreciated. Thanks so much!

Will there ever be an option added to Xvid4PSP that allows the changing of the font, or customizations on the font size, or is this even possible at all???

You might want to try Aegisub.

WinnyWindows,
Your program is the bomb. I tried the new version 5.00 and it was too hard to use considering everyone was using the old 4.xx versions. So I dropped down to the old versions and low and behold I converted my first PSP video.
Great program!!! Got some requests and some questions.
First thing, Can you create a tutorial explaining what all the options do. I noticed you have some of them already explained, but my major thing is the vbit rate. What's the benefit of having it maxed verse let's say another setting? Or choosing a different codec or what not.
Second, My video I converted is a widescreen video of "Pump up the Volume" I own. The thing is I'm on the new Sony PSP Slim and not sure if the resolution isn't the same? Or if it's the movie conversion. I have some black bars on each side of the screen. So technically it's not filling up the entire 480x272 screen. Is this common? My next movie is going to be , "The Matrix" and I was wondering what you would recommend for the maximum video quality? I'm using the 4Gig memory stick.
Thanks again for the program, You wouldn't believe how many I tried it's not even funny...
Regards,
3DChipset.com
Update - I've just noticed on my game, "Final Fantasy I" that the movie intro has the same small black borders on the left and right. So this must be common with video playback. :-)

Subtitle Workshop support this formats.
@3DChipset
Manual probably will be.
Best settings very simple -
Filtering - LimitedSharpen
VEncoding - x264 2P Extreme 512-768
AEncoding - AAC-LC 96-128
For fit video to PSP screen use aspect fix option. (Video - Aspect/Resolution)
Example - open 4:3 video, set out aspect 16:9 and aspectfix crop - video will fit to psp screen without aspect distortion.

Ok winny;)
I waiting the new beta. For the video with 4:3 aspect ratio it is better to select as output 16:9 + crop or 16:9 + black? 16:9 + crop cut the bottom part of video, 16:9 + black not cut anithing.
Thanks.

Cool i didn't known that. I always used 16:9 480x272 with disabled aspect fix on 4:3 videos and for some of them the image distortion was a bit annoying.
Oh and while i am here, Winny i found a small bug(?) but it happens on very few videos. Actually it detects the input fps from the video wrong. For example in one video the input was 23.976 (as usual) and xvid4psp detects it as 23.979. It isn't something critical of course (and as i said it happened only on 3-4 videos so far) but i just felt to let you know about this. Oh and i use the 4.115 version on Win XP SP2.

Is their any reason to use a higher vbitrate over the 7000 bit rate? I tried encoding in 10000 and it does increase the file size obviously, but is their any reason to increase the video encoding rate?
Plus is the Quantizer Extreme the best codec to use?
winnydows
09-23-2007, 02:25 PM
Hi bitrate for high resolution and for fast encoding settings - 1920x1080.
Don`t understand about quantizer.
x264 best codec.
Quantizer mode let create video file with target quality level, but 2P mode still can create better quality file with same file size. But ... for bitrate mode need calculate right bitrate for right quality. Later add quality predict to codec setting window.

Well, I let it just run, and after about 6000% it finally completed caching... So maybe it's just a bug in whatever value is used as "100%"....
Also, just upgraded to version 5... I don't think version 4 did this caching thing which results in the creation of a file about equal to or a bit bigger in size than the original .avi file... What's the benefit of this? I don't notice any improvements in conversion speed...
Thanks as always..
winnydows
09-23-2007, 04:35 PM
Caching required for internal codec-independend decoding. And impossible predict time of caching, so 6000% is normal.
Other way tune system for right decoding and use DirectShowSource.

Hello, This is my first time posting here I've used xvid4psp for a long time and been fiddling around with version 5.00 as of late.
Not too much bugs with the versions I've used (beta 20 and 21) But I did notice one bug.
That bug only happens to certain encode type of H264 which I'll post below. There seems to be an audio/video sync problem and I think the problem has to do with the FPS recognized by xvid4psp. The video is supposed to be 29.97fps however the Frame Rate Input is displayed at 24.279....
I don't think any of the settings has anything to do with it.

I tryed to use XviD4PSP_4115_full but it crashes on startup (program doesn't show up, just the windows xp program has crashed message). The older version used to work 2-3 months ago when I last used it. I already have framework 3 installed.
I tried XviD4PSP_5021_beta_full and it loads up. I tried to use it to convert bleach episode avi's but it successfully converted 1 of them, but the others either error at 100% (access is denied) or the error is audio could not be found.
Can you help me please? (I do have CCCP installed...could it be because of that?)
winnydows
09-24-2007, 03:22 PM
I too have CCCP installed.
Try set DirectShow decoder.
How you get acces denied error ? May be it was bug in keys after selection of task. I fix it already at my home build.
Sintaku
09-24-2007, 04:32 PM
For the access denied it converts the video 100% then says access denied. Also it doesn't pick the audio stream for some episodes. They are all AVI's. I tried the directshow thing and it still doesn't seem to work.
UPDATE 1: On one episode the sound comes when I use AVIsource. Why is that?
UPDATE 2: Now it says CAVIStreamSynth: System exception - Access violation at 0x0, reading from 0x0. (It says this in the video preview window, using 5.021 or whatever the latest beta is...since 4.x won't even load).
Also on my other computer I can use 4.x to encode the same files with ease, and no problems. So I don't think it is the files.

AVISource decode files with ACM codecs. So need have correct ACM codec, but I don`t recomend mix ACM codecs with normal DirectShow codecs.
Error about access vilolation - ffmpeg error.
Access denied error - I think it my error, but need catch it on my pc with your situation. I found few bugs in task list, may be this bugs cause your error. So try it in next beta.

Ok, thanks. I'll keep an eye out for this in the next beta. Also PMP encoding with 2-pass 512 ultra results in the (similar file size) in 5.x to that of 1-pass 512 turbo in 4.x. Is that supposed to happen?

Difference must be in quality.
Today fixed a lot of bugs in beta 21.
Also WPF player work now.

Hey Winnydows,
Can you make a list of resolutions to set in XviD4PSP for specific movie ratio's?
For instance when a movie's resolution is 2.35:1, what do you set the program to for "Resize" ? I have it set to Resolution (480x208), Aspect (2.353), Aspect Fix (Black - With:18).
I want to maximized the PSP's screen resolution but I want to he movie not to be stretched by any means and to stay it's natural aspect ratio. Any guide available?
Thanks.

5.0 don`t requre resolution list. Use combo boxes out aspect in aspect aspect fix and resolution for fit to screen. It very easy.
Example: Input movie 2.35:1. Target - fit to 16:9:
resolution-aspect window.
out aspect = 1.765
aspect fix = Crop
thats all.

Ony for curiosity, does your launchers provide support for multithreading? ffmpeg for example lets you specify the thread number, and since dual and quad core CPUs are the ones now it would be very useful to be able to configure this :)
