MAX Media Launcher for DS
Turn your GBA Flash Cart into a DS multimedia marvel…

April 21st, 2006 - Hardcore gamers the world over invested in Flash Carts for their GBA handhelds, running home brew games or programs shared among users or downloaded from the internet. With a Flash Cart and an emulator, for example, you could play games for older machines such as the Mega Drive/Genesis or the Sinclair ZX Spectrum on your handheld. It was your ticket to a whole new world of home brew software and emulation gaming. Then came the Nintendo DS. It’s fully backwards-compatible with the GBA, but you could only use a Flash Cart in GBA mode. There was no easy way of accessing DS programs on your Flash Cart. Until now…

MAX Media Launcher for the Nintendo DS and DS Lite is the perfect solution for accessing DS media from any GBA flash storage device. Simply snap in the Max Media Launcher cartridge, and that's it! Media, freeware, executables and other files stored on your flash card can be launched. The Flash Cart revolutionised the GBA home brew scene, and with MAX Media Launcher, it will do for the DS too.

MAX Media Launcher is compatible with most types of flash cards including M3 and NEO. It’s out in late April for a mere £12.99/$19.99. Bargain!

This is incredible and wonderful news...The best part of it all is the price, something like this should be enough to disrupt what is currently out on the market, and somehow reduce other prices! One has to wonder how this will fair against the passcard 2 and other passme type devices...no mention on wether it'll be compatible with the supercard either yet...hmm...although, I'm sure keeping my eyes peeled on this one. :P

It goes both in the GBA and NDS slots, cause to run the GBA HDD tool in NDS mode you need to use Passme, so they made there own version of Passme, there version of passme SHOULD let you play NDS roms trought a normal GBA cartridge, but they will probly put protection to make sure you dont.

As far as I can tell it is a PassMe2 (just like the PassKey2 is) - esp. since they only mention carts that have SRAM. The way the PassMe/2's work does not really allow for "blocking" anything since it just redirects the processors to the GBA cart, in PassMe2's case it redirects to GBA cart SRAM (which does mean that it would work fine with supercard - provided you load the SRAM each time or have the new miniSD one).

Hi,

We spoken to Datel last week regarding this product, they said the final version was still with the programmers. It is possible it may be available next week or even later, you never know with Datel ;).

Any 'reviews' out there not the real deal, go ask Datel yourselves...

This is the solo passthrough device, not the one bundled with the 4gig memroy which cost like $170 bucks.
