View Full Version : Win a Nyko Game Face 360! Get Designing your own themes!
Following on from our win a <A href=http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=6638 target=\_blank>digital video recorder for PSP & Ipod contest worth $150</a> (which is still running), we decided to run another contest for all you creative folk out there. In order to be in with a chance of winning your very own Nyko Game Face 360 kit, all you have to do is design and submit your very own design to our un-official Game Face 360 forum section. It's that simple, what is perceived to be the best design entry will win! You can check out the MaxConsole review of the <a href=http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=6708 target=\_blank>GameFace 360</a> should you need inspiration!

<b>Mac My 360 Contest</b>
It appears that Nyko’s Gameface 360 is the current ‘Hot’ item for customizing your 360. You can read our own in-depth Review of it right <a href=http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=6708 target=\_blank>here</a>.
We were so impressed with the Nyko Game Face 360 unit, we thought it would be nice to source another one and host a creative contest. But you’re not getting off so easily… we’re going to make you work a bit for it, but don’t worry, you’ll have fun in the process.
The contest is very simple. Using Nyko’s software, design a custom faceplate for the 360. Make it as simple or as detailed as your heart desires (nothing pornographic please), but originality and creativity count. You can submit as many as you want, and feel free to use Photoshop or any other 3rd party photo editor to enhance your faceplate. Once you have your faceplate, Put it into the Nyko software, save it, and submit it to us in the forum thread link below.
As a bonus, once the contest is over we will add all submissions into a new 360 forum where everyone can share and enjoy each others creations.
You can download the software <a href=http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=69 target=\_blank>here</a>. (Nyko’s Website)
Finally, here are a <A href=http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?p=156385#post156385 target=\_blank>few examples to get your creative juices flowing.</a>
The closing date for the contest is May 22nd 2005 23:59 PST. Yes, the contest is open to EVERYONE across the world.

OK, here is an example to get everyone started...
http://www.webjenerations.com/feisty/GameGeek/Gameface/Halo_GF.jpg
what we would request is the raw BMP file created by the Nyko software zipped up in either a Rar or Zip format, along with a screenshot to show what it looks like within the template.
IMPORTANT
Your design will be judged not only by overall design, but how well it fits within Nyko's software template! The best design in the world doesn't matter if the coolest parts are cut out by the template...
Good Luck to Everyone!

Ok folks... time for a little bit of critiquing here....
1) Originality counts!!!!
taking a cool picture of your favorite game and/or photograph is cool, but regardless of how neat a pre-made pic is, an original creation is strongly preferred. Do some custom work with layers or design something based on the cutout of the template...
2) Work within the template
Make sure that any important areas of your design are not cut off by the template. Having a face displayed may look good, but if an eye or a mouth or some other important part is cut off by the CD-Tray or buttons then it is pointless.
3) Proper alignment within the Nyko software is a must!
Some of the pictures so far look pretty good, but when loaded into the Nyko software they are off!!! When designing your Gameface, make sure to load it into the Nyko software to make sure it is lined up properly!
The winner gets a Gameface completely free out of the deal, and I have to pay out of my pocket to ship it to you, so please put some thought and creativity into your designs!!!!!

Every image I've downloaded worked fine, and aligned great in the Nyco software. I had to adjust a few, but they all lined up and printed ok. I am using a laser printer and an Epson Inkjet. I've printed on the pre-packaged templates that came with the gameface and also plain and glossy A4 paper. I don't understand what you mean about being off? Every face I load if offset to the right initially, but lines up ok. What am I missing? They look great on my 360 once cut out, maybe I am doing something wrong?
I also adjusted the template I had made for photoshop and included "cut lines" that print on the game face that show you where to cut so the face sits smooth. Anyone interested in that? It was Fiestygirls idea and worked out pretty good, so credit for the template should go to her, I was just bored enough at work to do it, hehhehe!

Awsome! Feel free to post the template :D
BTW, not pointing any fingers at any specific designs... some of the designs fit the template perfectly, some are off. I'm not pointing out you, or anyone else specifically, just giving everyone that's already submitted something the 'heads up' to double check what they have already submitted, and giving anyone who wants to add more some pointers...
I only want the best from you guys... you can do it!!! :D

Superheroes and zombies are pretty cool on their own. But put them together and you've got the feast of awesomeness that is Marvel Zombies. These faceplates pay homage to the MZ universe, where the heroes of the world have become flesh hungry fiends.

Also, here's a faceplate based on Finnish hard rock band 'Lordi' , who will be representing their country at Eurovision...
http://img463.imageshack.us/img463/1025/lordifaceplatepic2pj.jpg
And a faceplate based on Robert Kirkman's Walking Dead zombie comic series...
http://img53.imageshack.us/img53/60/walkingdeadfaceplatepic3pd.jpg
I personally think that these created faceplates are awesome. Sure they may not be all be individually handcrafted, but the imagination counts too! Great job you guys, I like em all!

Here are some more faceplate pictures. Nothing that can make me win, but just to add to some variety.. Nothing nude....

Hi guys,
I dont own this faceplate kit yet as I have one issue with it I hope you can help me out with.
The graphics and art submitted here look great but I think the only thing that will ruin it will be the ugly grey panels on the actual Nyko faceplate for the controllers and usb cover.
When you print a cover out do you just pop these panels out on the original Nyko paper/cardboard and place the newly printed cover inside the plastic cover?
If so can the bits that are popped out for the controller and usb covers be double sided taped or stuck on somehow to the faceplate panels so the faceplate looks just like a whole picture?
So it looks the same as an original one for arguments sake.
Thanks.

You could in theory tape something over the power button, but as for the memory card and usb flaps? No. Because the way it works is that these items have to hinge hence you'd have to be damn precise and use superglue or something, which would of course render the faceplate unable to hold any other faceplate design.

Thin double sided tape might be the answer, the flap panels just pop out from the cardboard sheet printed on right?
So I dont have to cut them out, just have to stick them onto the faceplate flaps correct?
The dark grey flaps look crap thats all, imagine printing an image onto a white cardboard sheet that had a lot of white still remaining then having these ugly grey flaps sticking out...no thank you.

yes they just pop out
yes youd just have to stick them on, but if your carefull enough you could leave the side that the hinge is on still intact and that would work to.
or you can do what i did, just pop the flaps off.
Please note: when in Nyko software resize the pictures because I couldn't upload the really nice 7mb ones. then just grab the picture and adjust to a good position, and (add blur only if you want to), also add some light if you room is dark, other then that I didn't want to lose any details.
Please don't complain on my styles or why I didn't do this or that. I did it purely for fun, and to help the masses out there who don't know where to get started on some great designs.

I'm guessing it's either because the thread's been forgotten about or the mods got less entries than they were expecting and waiting till they've got a few more.

As i cant create threads yet i had to choose a room to put my post in, so here it is.
Ive been a gamer all my life, own every console there has ever been and still pull out my Atari now and again. I thought the only customizing you could do to a 360 was faceplates and intercoolers on the back, how mistaken i was. lol. I have an ELITE, one of the first ones sold in Hong Kong. I discovered yesterday all the lights and fans you can put inside. Basically i want to pimp my 360, but dont know where to start. Any help would be much appreciated.
