Wunsick of Devo-E has put up a new blog, in which he promises to update on a regular basis on his progress of replicating the DVD firmware hack. Wunsick was involved in the 360 sata, Xtool and 360 rebuild, now he has confident he has the skills and knowledge to take everyone through the process of hacking the Xbox 360 DVD firmware. His blog at <A href="http://dee.team-gx.org/dvdhax/" target="_Blank">DVDHax</a> is already filled with some initial pictures and hype, let's see with what Wunsick can come up with, as we all know theory is one thing but implementation is another.

Hey everyone, i have been seeing far too many confused 360 modders out there… want to hook up your dvd drive? well lets give this the ol college try! Hopefully it will help you fellas out!

What is this page you ask? well its a blog/tutorial for hacking the xbox 360 dvd drive. It will consist of a few things, first of all building an adapter to hook this bad boy up…

So throughout the journey we will be building an adapter to hook this baby up, and then using various tools to read and write to the firmware… Stay tuned for the next update… some parts will be ariving, ill take some photos and keep you all posted.

Good luck on your quest WunSick...We'll catch up with his progress in a few days if any. I have spoken to him and he's about as confident as Tommy was at beating Rocky in their street brawl...will he have the skills to match ? Time will tell.

He is crazy if he decides to release code, or part of the code for the drive.. Not masking his identity he better not want to travel to the US for anything :)

On another note hopefully his guide will prove useful and be easy to follow (at least in comparison to the mangled forums about the topic). From what I have gathered, if you can connect and detect, just run the dumping software to get all your keys and a backup you are set.. Not too much can ruin your drive (As long as you can solder and have a programmer handy to write your code back) I think we are all just waiting for some solid software to patch the firmware bits without desoldering. Wouldn't want to write bad code to the drive and kill it.

exactly, the apps are out there, the sources are out there, the methods are unclear, why not have a one spot stop ?

well, ill have apps to download that read/write the firmware... and adapters are being made by a few places, so... im just trying to supply a cheap alternative and the steps nessisary for ppl to learn and start if they choose too.

Ok this news post is posted wrong, i do NOT intend to replicate the firmware hack, nor tell anybody HOW, this is purely a hardware mod.

Is there some sort of conspiracy in the 360 scene or something? Have M$ started sending the heavies round with bats and chains?

There's no conspiracy, that's for sure.
Everyone has become scared. Look, a few days ago we get firmware software for the Xbox 1, commodore4eva threw a lot of this stuff out onto the scene.
It's not about morality or anything like that - - if it was, we wouldn't see ANYTHING like this, be it for Xbox 1, Xbox 360, etc.

Just wait until adapters come out on a commercial scale. Once that happens, firmware and patchers will "magically" come out of the woodwork and be found in all the appropriate places. How do I know this? It's common sense. Team Xecuter and others stand to make a profit on their work they've put into creating products to aid the end-user in patching his/her firmware. If no firmware is out there, if no software is released, NO ONE will buy their product. They have to ensure something will be available before throwing a useless product out onto the market.
Don't worry about a thing guys, something will show up, for sure! ;)
