Althac are running a three part series on how to make your NES controller compatible with an XBox. Each part allows you to prepare for what lies aheaad, with each part displaying all the times, wiring diagrams and tools you'll need for the job.

Since wiring an NES Controller for use on an Xbox is a fairly complex task, I've decided to break this article into 3 parts to simplify the process and give you time to shop for the tools/parts you'll need. Part I of How To: NES Controller to Xbox Mod will show you how to prepare the NES Controller for use on the Xbox. This article includes complete descriptions, an easy to follow wiring diagram, and a break down of all the tools you will need.

Well , the idea of using real NES pad to play NES emulators is great , yes .. But this whole article seems useless to me. Anyone with half a brain can come up with such a method to convert any type of pads to a Xbox type pad. Anyone already owning a soldering iron/station can come up with this. What would be really nice , would be if he actually used a processor to convert from NES to XBOX signals, then it could be adapted to convert SNES as well (would be very easy) and even ps2 (with a bit more programming) all that with no hardware modifications , and cheaper or same costs. (1 pic microcontroller < 10$ , and the pic programmer itself can be build for less then 10$).

Overall this is an expensive project (buying ps2 extension/madcatz controller) just to play with a controller with horrible response to button presses and a final project that would esthetically look horrible. And would also limit you to 1 type of controller , while there are so many different emulators! And the project is not even complete yet! So all of you go out buy all this hardware , and hopefully you'll use the half of your brain you need to complete this project.

My real question is , why does this make Maxconsole's news???? You may or may not agree with me , but this was no news that should of made this site.

This site seems to be craving for news lately.

I understand your comments, I personally found it interesting how to use a NES controller on the Xbox 360 and I can see it has been a highly viewed article - to some it's interesting, to some it's mundane.

The staff can not please everyone all the time, it's not one of the best news items ever posted I'll admit - and hey remember it's the weekend ;).
