View Full Version : Very Confused About PassKey2 and Red DS

I have a Red DS (Mario Kart Version) and I have just ordered my M3 and PassKey2 from ConsoleSource. I have been reading a lot about how the PassKey2 works, but I can't seem to get a clear sense of what I'm supposed to do.

1.) It seems that the PassKey2 requires some kind of setup that is specific to the NDS rom that you wish to play. Will this setup be required each time I want to play a different game? What if I want to switch between three or four different games that I have on my SD Card?

2.) I get the idea that FlashMe is the better solution. Can a Red DS be flashed, or is it just earlier models?

Please be clear, this is all pretty confusing. I have searched these forums and read every PassKey post, but all I find is confusing comments that don't just come out and tell me what I am doing.

I'd appreciate responses to my questions and not more questions in reply. There are two or three whole threads here that are nothing but a bunch of questions from people with no answers. Not meaning to be rude, just trying to keep things focused and hopefully we will all be able to benefit from the answers.

Thank You.

1) You have to program the passkey 2 to the original DS game cart you have inserted into the passkey, not the rom that you want to play.

2) Flashme can be flashed to any verson of DS, and even the DS lite.

Very Cool! Thank you.

So, if the PassKey2 is set to, say, Mario Kart DS, then I have to only make sure that I have that cartridge in the PassKey2 when I use it? Then can I choose any NDS ROM I have on my SD and play it, even selecting from multiple NDS ROMs I may have on it?

Also, once I have set my PassKey2 to a specific cartridge, should I only have to change the setting when using a different cartridge in it? I would gladly set my PassKey2 for MKDS and then just pull the whole thing out when I wanted to play one of my other carts. Furthermore, will my choice of cartridge to use with the PassKey2 affect how my M3 works or what games will or won't work right?

Hehehe. I found this link:

Nintendumps PassKey Review and Guide (http://www.nintendumps.net/forum/index.php?act=reviews&CODE=view&id=7http://www.nintendumps.net/forum/index.php?act=reviews&CODE=view&id=7)

It's a pretty good rundown of how to set up the PassKey2 and a fair overview about it's function.
