Got the following news from the M3 Team:

We will release the Passcard 2 around March 28th .
It is compatible with all versions of the NDS console & there is no need to select from passkey1 or 2 mode, you only need to put a .dat file into CF/SD card. It's just Plug & Play .

Yes that is the correct size!

Looking damn sexy. I'll most likely get one as soon as my DS Lite arrives from Honk Honk. Going nuts waiting for it.

hope it will also work with other backup devices than m3

Wait, so you don't need an original NDS game to use it on a newer DS?

I think this is brilliant...personally I'd like something like this occupying my gamecard space than any other game, or leaving it openly exposed.

What i'd be interested to know is in conjunction with your favourite homebrew/backup device, how much will it affect battery life?

If it is the same as a regular DS cart, or less...I would definately get one :)

Has anyone got their hands on one yet?

I'm looking at buying one at the moment and have seen it available in Europe from here - http://shop.01media.com/en/info.asp?ProductID=16571

They say it's not compatible with Supercard (which I have), but it seems like it would work in a similar way to the Passme 2-z (which doesn't need an external card and is a little bit longer than a normal DS cart) which does work.

From the pic it looks the same size as a DS card but they don't explicitly state it (would've thought it would be a good selling point!).

Anyway, I've submitted a message on their support page asking for the details about the exact size and if they have anymore details so I'll let you know what they say once they get back to me unless anyone can give us some more info in the meantime..

If anyone's interested I have received a reply from 01media:

The size is 33x35x4 mm which I think is the same as a DS card.

They weren't able to confirm that it works the same way as a Passme 2-z, but looking at the new picture they have up of the inside of the card it would appear to be the same.. the chip on the left has APNE printed on it which according to darkfader's list would be Pac N Roll (U), so I am guessing that it would be fine to use with a supercard like a 2-z (probably irrelevant to you if you have an M3!).

If anyone's interested the download/instructions for the card have been added here.. http://shop.01media.com/download/PSC2.zip

They also mentioned that they have sent cards to GBATemp.net,
Nintendumps.net and http://www.elotrolado.net so they should have some reviews available soon.

Do i get this right? I just need to insert that Passcard and get the M3 Mini SD Adapter and start with homebrew stuff? That'll be fantastic!
btw, what size has the m3 mini sd adapter? about the same size as a gba game?

thanks.

Yes, I'm going to get the Nintendo DS Lite + M3 SD Mini + Passcard 2, then the cartridge will stick out as much as a gba, and you can play all games free :D

just bought a ds lite, m3 mini sd, 512 mini card + card reader and one of these babies. It cost me alot lol, 250 quid. Same price I payed for my psp with 1 game and a 512 card. Ive since sold my psp due to the games sucking. I hope my 250 quid is well spent.

edit: from what ive seen of the pics of the m3 mini and the passcard, my ds lite shud only have a small little black thing showing :D, and its navy anyway.

is the m3 mini sd the same size as a gba cart? someone please post pics with it inside a ds, and is the passcard 2 the same size as a ds cart?

the bottom 1 is the mini sd. As you can see its actually smaller than a GBA cart i think. The passcard 2 is 2mm bigger than a standard ds cart i think. And i think you just put the sram.dat on your m3 then put the passcard 2 in. As you can see lol all thinks, because I dont have mine yet.

got this today, also got my m3 mini sd and my ds lite. Cant test any of it though lol, since my mini sd aint arrived yet. I live in the uk, all of my stuff was ordered on the same day, my ds got here today from hong kong, got my m3 and passcard from poland they got here today, my sd mini ordered from in the uk and still not here lol.

edit: o btw this doesnt stick out of the ds at all. So no need for flashme or anything to make your ds look normal again. Its like its not even thier lol. I also read that you need to do one more thing to get it working. And thats to get the pac and roll gba file APNE-0.gba and put it on your stick.

Really? So following the instructions of the minicd that you get isnt enough?

Passcard2 guide
1, put the sram.dat into CF/SD/G6 root directory
2, Insert the CF/SD into M3
3, Run the M3 in the GBA mode once or Run the G6 in the GBA mode once .
4, Insert the Passcar2 into NDS Slot 1
5 Put the M3/G6 into NDS Slot 2 & boot it up .
M3/G6 should be enter into NDS mode .

you get white screens with that. You need to get that pac and roll GBA file aswell. But once there both on thier, works like a charm. GBA, NDS all good. The video lags in moonshell but that could be the read speed on the mini sd card i bought. Its a play.com branded 1. A high speed 1 may not have this problem.

isnt pac and roll a DS game and not a GBA game?

and do I have to patch the games with game manager?

OblivionX
04-22-2006, 02:58 PM
it is nds game, but it some form of gba file that contains some information to make it think its the game. Could be header info i dont no. Its the same gba file you would use with passkey 2. I can pm it you if you want the file. You also do need to patch the games with the game manager as normal if your using the m3. Its really simple to do.

I have mine and it works fine without the GBA file, seems it works for some people and not for others. Make sure you have the latest version of the M3/G6 manager and you will be okay with just the file on the disc.
Incidently I have 3, as I have 2 kids and all 3 worked with just the file on the disc. (normal DS's not lites)

OblivionX

the gba file may just be for ds lites. Because i needed it to get it to work on my ds lite but the author wudnt have missed something so obvious.
