View Full Version : MX Vs. ATV Unleashed FW2.5
Prologue
02-28-2006, 08:46 PM
I have picked up this game today and it 'needs' firmware 2.5. I have a 1.5 and access to a 2.0 PSP and actually got the game partially working on the 2.0. My goal is to rip the songs out and get it working fully on the 1.5 PSP. Wifi is unimportant right now so I may try using the new MPH firmware loader.
Here is what I've tried so far.
2.0 PSP
Set PSP version to 2.5 with PSP Setx.
Game loads fine except for the sound cycling continuously. As in it never has the chance to play a song or any sound because it automatically goes on to the next sound apparently. This was observed while in the riding mode, because the new song box will pop up every 2-3 seconds starting a new song over and over and not actually play anything. NO SOUND WORKS WHATSOEVER.
1.5 PSP
It will not start on my 1.5 with WAB changed version to 2.0. I cannot find a version changer for the 1.5 that will bring it up to 2.5 instead of 2.0, though. If that exists I could try that also.
I have attempted to rebuild the ISO by extracting with WinRAR and deleting the update folder, then decrypting the EBOOT.BIN file with Aenea's 2.X EBOOT and PRX decryptor v0.1. Then renaming the EBOOT.BIN to BOOT.BIN and placing in the SYSDIR folder. Only decrypting the BOOT.BIN and trying to start with UMD Loader 0.8c will makes the screen go black and seek the memory card 3 times, then it shuts itsels off. I have it set to Copy Load and to use the BOOT.BIN. If I replace the PRX files with PRX's from Wipeout Pure and Virtua Tennis, it will do the same thing EXCEPT not shut itself off.
This is what I have tried so far because I'll be damned if I can't find any info ANYWHERE on how to attempt this. All the talk is about the MPHfwloader, I can't find any info on how to accomplish what I am trying right here.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to ge ta 2.5 game working on a 1.5? Should I be going about this a different way? Any help would be appreciated.

You can get MX vs ATV to work on a 1.5 PSP using the same method as for GTA and similar games. Same problem arises as you had with the 2.0 PSP. Sound doesn't work. Little speaker icon in the bottom left corner just flickers. I'm trying to work on a fix now, but not sure how far I'll get. More than likely someone else with better coding skills will need to do this.

mx vs atv on 1.5
use umdemulator,
direct load,
flash emulation off.
the rest, whatever...
it works great here

How ?
thake the normal iso and decrypt the prx's with the newest decryptprx prog from mph...the prog shows on the screen that not all prx can decrypt but thats not serious, take all the prx out of the prog and change all with that from the game and then make a normal iso with vcdromx and that's it!!!the game is working for me with these steps but only that speakerthing is flickering ingame!!good luck;)

usual settings system menu and boot bin on. decrypt prx's with mph 1.0.2 (not the mif file but all the others) and that's it. your iso shoulde be 794118 ko

i am still having the hang up-----i use vcromx and my iso is 794 180. I don't what the problem is!

03-01-2006, 04:24 PM
ok it worked!!! what did i do differently? I copy and pasted the prx files into the crypt folder (i used to just drag them in directly). Then when the new prx were done i dragged and dropped them into the original psp_game folder (which brought up the "replace with"---say yes and it's fine)
oh one more thing and this could be huge---the crypt files came back and some were capitalized. Example- mpeg was MPEG.PRX so i made them lower case. Not sure if that fixed it but now it works.
hope that helps

Thanks for the replies everyone I will try your suggestions. I can deal with no sound for now, I just want it working.
Just to clear this up, are you are extracting the prx files individually in UMDgen, or are using WINRar or something to extract the entire iso?

Thats not true, sometimes the umdgen isos dont work. (Look at the thread of the compatibility of 2.00 mph gameloader). :p

After extracting the PRX's one by one through UMDGen then decrypting with MPH's decrypter, then replacing all prx's with the replace function, not dragging them in: It's still hangs on the UMDLoader Screen after selecting direct boot and an ISO then shuts itself off. If I select 'System Menu', then select the UMD Icon, I get the FFFFFFxxx something error, game could not start. They were the same results with boot.bin weither on or off with either setting.
Should I try a decrypted BOOT.BIN? I have not deleted the Update folder would that effect anything? Does it matter if I delete it?

prologue. after selecting "system menu" and it shoots you back to the psp menu. that is when you are supossed to go back into your memory stick programs and launch the mph launcher. DO NOT click on the umd icon like normal.

OH, I see, um yeah I don't have that program set up. Do I do everything just as if I was going to use GTA, instead of doing the iso mods they tell you about. Do I put the PRX's in the decrypted PRX folders? Which firmware are you emulating with the MPHloader, 2.0, 2.5? Should Flash 0/1 emulation be on in UMDEmulator?
I'll gather these programs and take a shot at getting it working, thanks for the tip!

Yes, I know all this can be a little confuseing.
If you're able to run GTA, you run this game exactly the same way after you've replaced the .prx-files in the ISO.
If you have not run GTA yet, try that first.
EDIT:
I did nothing else than replace the decrypted .PRX-files in the ISO.

Not saying anything, but I did find that a rebuilt "PQ Practical Intelligence Quotient" ISO done with UMDgen (default settings) did not work while the same files produced a working ISO with VCDromX (3.8 English). Try it out for yourself.

well i rebuilt practical cube quite a few times and each one with umdgen. Every single game that i build is used with umdgen and trust me, i do alot of building. Maybe im doing something your not who knows, all i know is i havent touched vcdrom ever since umdgen 2.0 came out.

Yeah I'm a bit confused as to whether or not people have infact been able to get it "working" with sound. I have it working, but with no sound, and to me that means its "NOT" working.

Im suprised no1 has claimed "newer codecs" to be the reason for no sound which would be logical.

I have checked and triple checked everything that I am doing, it is not working. I reset my PSP to default settings, I rebuilt with UMDGen by eaxtracting all and then replacing files and then rebuilding the iso. I have decrypted the iso's the proper way, all of my UMDEmulator settings are correct.
The only thing that I see different is the file size I end up with, I get 794,818 as viewed in Windows Explorer. It was said that the size should be 794,118. Was that a typo and it should be 794,818 or is the 794,118 correct.
I am following this tutorial exactly (http://mphwebsite.tuxfamily.org/punBB/viewtopic.php?id=539) except where I extract the PRX's and replace them to, because it is obviously a different ISO. Credit to Gh0sT for writing the tutorial.
Here is the way I do it.
1st Variation
Extract ISO with fastloader
Dump ISO to PC through USB
Extract Iso to directory with UMDGen
Copy PRX's to PSP through USB
Use the PSAR modded decrypter to extract PRX's
Copy modded PRX's back to PC through USB
Overwrite the PRX's in the USRDIR folder
Drag PSP_Game into UMDGen pane, then the UMD_DATA the same
Save as an ISO and send to PSP to root/ISO folder
2nd Variation
Extract ISO with fastloader
Dump ISO to PC through USB
Open UMDgen and extract PRX's one by one to directory
Copy PRX's to PSP through USB
Use the PSAR modded decrypter to extract PRX's
Copy modded PRX's back to PC through USB
Overwrite the PRX's one by one by right-clicking and selecting Replace...
Save as an ISO and send to PSP to root/ISO folder
Settings for UMD Emulator 0.8c
CPU/BUS speed : 333/166 MHz
ISO emulation mode : system menu
Disctype ISO : game
Disctype UMD : game
Updater icon : remove
Use boot.bin : on
Regioncode overwrite : off
Flash0 emulation : off
Flash1 emulation : off
This list and the tutorial credited to Gh0sT
Loading
Open UMDEmulator and use the settings specified in this tutorial from the MPH website (http://mphwebsite.tuxfamily.org/punBB/viewtopic.php?id=539)
Select ISO and get bumped back to System Menu, the Iso is displaying as the UMD
Select the Game folder and boot MPHGameloader
The "Loading Game..." comes up and after about 15 seconds the PSP shuts off
I throw the PSP across the room.
I used this file pack to install the MPHGameloader, credit to Gh0sT again, "GTA_2.0_PSP_ISO_MPH_GameLoader_Guide-Gh0sT :: Mirror 1 (http://www.filefactory.com/get/f.php?f=eeed987d79d277d5e7a19a46) - Mirror 2 (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0UMRWKMZ) (Please provide more mirrors for this file!)"

Anyone with half a brain and a hex-editor could show you that that is not the case. Just for kicks, take a look at audiocodec.prx. Mainly the first four bytes.

i had the same problem, i had a bad dump so i redumped it ;) and it worked fine, has to be an untouched iso though but still no sound

I did two redumps and tried various settings. I tried not doing ANYTHING to the ISO, that didn't work, black screen memory seeking and reboot after 15 secs. If I use the PRX decrypter it's black screen seeks then stops seeking, reboot after 10-15 seconds.
This is with boot.bin off on etc. ad naseum.

hi
so the conclusion is that the new custom firmware working with dbz doesn't give the sound.
"replacing the prx's from the kd folder on a 2.5 flash dump"
it's not true.you don't have to replace the ressource folder.
