Ok just got xenogc chip in today....soldered it all down....I had a ***** of a time getting the cube back together....now when I turn the system on there are no led's coming off the dvd drive and it seems like the drive isnt getting any power at all per it wont even try to read the disc [not spinning at all] I am decent at soldering so I dont think that was the problem as all points are nice and neat....but I think my problem might be in putting the cube back together...I made sure the dvd drive plugged into the thing sticking up from the mobo...but it seems its still not getting power any suggestions would be greatly appriciated !! sorry I am very new the cube scene

is the logo screen still powering up?...if so, you might want to reopen your cube and check to see if you have broken the "lid open" switch....i broke one before and it was because when i put the case back on, i wasnt being careful enough...

No digicam....would something w/ the install have anything to do w/ the dvd drive not powering up?
thnx for any help
Doesnt the cube have to at least spin the disc a little bit before it can recognize it? I'm just all in all confused....all my solder points are touching and not crossing.....the chip is secured down.....everything is plugged in where it needs to be (I hope)......

Went back this morning and retouched up all the solder points.....still the same results......anyone have any ideas what could be causing this , or is it normal to not even spin the dvd when system loads?

the only reason for my gamecube not spinnin the cd was because the system thought that the lid was still open...and thats why it didnt spin......are you positive that you're lid switch isnt broken?....thats the only thing i can think of...or atleast check the connection to it...

it can still spin with teh lid off...you just have to tape down the switch, so the system thinks its closed...give that a try

Ok took it off retouched up all the gold pads and then resoldered the chip in....now when I turn on the gamecube the red led on the chip lights up....but it never turns green...and the mini-dvd that I have in there trys to get read but just goes to main menu screen.....could this be caused by just the disc being burned incorrectly or bad media...or is it def the chip per no green led?
as always any help greatly appriciated

You need to see a green led.

^^^
even if there is no disc (or bad media)
the green led should still come on?

If my memory serves correct - YES. I think by the end of the NGC intro tune it should go green. I can double check tonight

yes, after the gamecube logo the chip should give a green led. When you poweron it starts with a red led, and it goes to green when it successfully patches the dvd firmware...
