View Full Version : Use GEN game modules/prxs on 5.00 M33-6?

Could the files on the flash0 of 5.00 M33-6 be modified/overwritten or could some be added from a dump of 5.50 GEN-D2 so that the new game decrypter (with the red screen confirmation) and game compatibility could be updated?
I was thinking if the march33.prx, peagasus.prx, galaxy.prx, and whichever other files that are modified to allow higher firmware games to run from 5.50 GEN D-2 were added to 5.00 M33-6, I could keep 5.00 M33-6 as a whole and have 6.XX games running. A line for peagasus.prx would need to be added in the 3 pspbtcnf bin files too. This way I could keep leda/150kerneladdon, homebrew compatibility, my custom theme, all functions working in the recovery menu, and the overall stability of 5.00 M33-6.
And I know, I don't know much about how the psp software works, that's why I'm asking here to see if this is even plausible.

I dont think Team GEN likes the idea that you use the modules in 5.00 M33, ;)
And i am sure if this thing happens in a future the modules will check it, :D

such a great idea, i'd take 5.00 m33 anyday over gen.
at this point i'm willing to bet gen will never make a new cfw cuz they can't, but how long can they keep dragging 5.50 along ? who knows.
oh well.

Already tried it a while ago when GEN-D came out, doesn't work, black screens after launching. Get used to decrypting EBOOTs or simply friggin update!

I tried last night but it would freeze at the gameboot, the orange memory stick light wouldn't blink. I will try a few things and report back I guess.
Edit: Tried running peagasus.prx using plugins, froze game at gameboot. Maybe the header of the prx is what is stopping it from working? Maybe it is only for 5.50? Or maybe it is mutiple modified files that work in conjunction with eachother to produce the game decryption on the fly. I dunno.
I believe an Unofficial 5.00 M33-7 would be more ideal than a complete 5.50 cfw like there is now. A small patch for 5.00 M33 to run newer games would be more sufficient.

i think they are doing so. they are not able to create new own cfw, the only thing they are doing modifing the 5.00m33 (or take the knowhow) to run games which need higher firmware. thats the reason why gen firmwares are so buggy.

5.00 doesn't know the 5.50 encryption
