No. I suggest getting a PSP-2000/3000 if you need custom firmware.

No custom firmware yet.
A "savegame exploit" was found 2 days after launch but it doesn't grant access to kernal as of yet.
There is no news yet if it will lead to a custom firmware enabler or not.
Looks promising but only time will tell.

I doubt it will ever have true cfw. Maybe a hen at some point but expect it to take a while. Of course if sales of the GO are lagging then Sony might leak an exploit themselves..

Good point.
It would make sense for SONY to do so.
Sales would skyrocket with the slightest exploitation of the GO.
If we could all just say no long enough lol
The PSN store entices me but I won't give up the bargain bin at the local Gamestop either.

There are various exploits, both user mode and kernel which work on all models of PSP, unfortunately they must remain private and used sparingly, i know for a fact there are more than 10 user-mode exploits sitting on one developers machine.
Currently there seems to be one game related exploit in the wild, (fifa07) but is as yet, unconfirmed.
I highly doubt there will be any kind of custom firmware for the PSP go within it's consumer shelf life, IE: It'll probably get hacked, in about 10 years time...

"Kernel"
Thanks SpellCheck!
lol
The Fifa 07 exploit (if we confirm it) will be of no use to us in relation to the GO as the develoder of the exploit clearly states it REQUIRES the UMD to load the exploit and we all know the go is...how do we say....lacking the utilities for such an operation.
The GO is like a chick without a vagina,
Pleasing to the eyes,
Nice to touch,
but it can't take what we wanna put in it

lol, the one glaring issue with the Go is, Sony has taken our exploit vector away, savegame exploits are many and varied, this is because game developers... develop games, they don't give a crap about the security of their routines... if the game saves with the code you just wrote then great, build it, ship it... now there is no UMD, Sony can simply patch the game with the exploit and no one else will be able to use it.
All this leaves as attack vectors is specially crafted image/video/music files, or maybe some malicious client side script to run within it's browser, or possibly some kind of WiFi packet modification (On-the-fly), all of these things can be fixed with a firmware update.
We're almost totally screwed with the Go... I'm not buying one lol.
Maybe in a few years time Sony will quietly leak something that will enable custom firmware on the Go, when their sales are dwindling leaking an exploit or method of CFW magnitude would light their sales figures on fire one last time.

I would buy one if sony would at least let us trade in our umd copies for the download.
But....they probably won't. It would be a good idea seeing as they are trying to move into the digital download era and they could slowly thin out the umd population.
Only problem with that idea tho is without umds the only purpose our psp 1-3ks would serve is simply homebrew and people would pirate the games they want.
Gahh we just can't win for loosing.
We need to find a way to "jailbreak" the go like they did the ipods lol
Or at least someone leak the tools sony uses to digitally sign their files.
I have SONY's leaked UMD COMPOSER but I have no interest in it besides knowing I have it lol
I wish I knew the whole software aspect of making CFW and stuff. Everyone keeps telling me to get an IT job cuz I'm good with computers but it's more that I'm good at problem solving.
Could anyone point me in the direction of a good resource to start learning?
Keep in mind I'd be starting from the bottom...luckily i climb fast ^_^
well on this topic it looks like the guy who found the freeplay exploit is working on a eloader.

What's the point?!
Correct me if I'm wrong but as soon as Sony figure out what game is vulnerable they will patch the game on their servers... making the eLoader useless to all but a handful of people who act fast enough.

I'd buy a go in 2 seconds if a full on CFW was released for it.
like 6.10 M33... and it would have to be the kind of thing that was flashed in, and NOT loaded from some game...

Yeah I don't even have to look at the post to know it's fake.. How do I know..
FreePlay is the person that found the user exploit for the PSPGo... it's not called the freeplay exploit. It does not have a name also FreePlay has already stated he is not developing anything for this exploit. He is using it to look for an exploit in the firmware rather than a game.
Don't believe everything you read.
Yes I know he says that he is making one in his yourtube channel but, officially he's not making a thing.

Just took my PSP Go into Gamestation and swapped it for a 360 Elite bundle (had to pay an extra 35 squid).
It feels great to be liberated from that pile of wank PSN store.

Nice, but it'll probably be a game based exploit which will be patched in hours... if its another TIF vulnerability that would be better... but only slightly.

Wow so many people are flaming Team Typhoon for even posting the video since they aren't releasing the exploit.
One thing we all have to remember is that this exploit more than likely requires a game from the PSN store to launch. This basically means that almost the instant they release the exploit SONY will instantly disable the download of said game and patch it before reposting it.
This would make all their hard work to make the exploit WASTED and we STILL wouldn't have CFW....basically we would loose our "foot in the door" only to have it slammed in our face and SONY would install new "locks" faster than a pissed of ex-wife lol
Them posting this video at least assures us it can and has been done, and we all know Dark Alex is working with the Gen Team now so hopefully they will pull through for us. What we need to do is figure out a way to share games downloaded from the PSN on other GO consoles so that we could keep the game the exploit uses in circulation free from SONY's grasp. I saw a post somewhere on how to share PSN games with other people but I'd have to look for it again and I think they mentioned it didn't work with 100% of games...but it is something to look into as a way around SONY patching the exploitable game so we can't use it.

No he's not. Why would DA want to work with a team that stole his work?
That's like saying Bill Gates is working for $ony. I very highly doubt it.

Ok, looks like DA is working with GEN. LOL.
After all the faulty firmware released by GEN recently that should be enough proof DA's not working with them. He doesn't release faulty firmware, he does release updates and addons.

Dax... in the past has indeed released faulty and buggy firmware... it happens, Christ... I've released code that's had massive vulnerabilities in it, luckily i have always released and fixed the issue before someone else owns our server.
Also... just so you're aware the Bill Gates & Sony thing was an April fools joke from some time ago...
Fun aside, i seriously doubt dax is actively working with GEN...

I don't remember where the source was or how loosely "dax is currently working with the GEN team" was used in the article. All I do know is that DAX only closed his forums due to the overwhelming cost and hassle to maintain it. He has not left the PSP dev scene but you are right, his true activities remain a mystery which leads me to believe he's cooking up some good shiz for us.
On another note, who the hell would expect him not to release some buggy code. As one who likes to opt in for MMO BETAs I can tell you NOONE gets it right the first go around (do you have any idea how many places you'd get stuck in the WoW BETA! A lot). He has no way to massively BETA test his stuff prior to release so everyone should consider themselves a beta tester and quit complaining lol

I know it was a joke. :)
About M33's CFW from what I remember the extras (M33, 1, 2 ,3 etc) wern't bug fixes but addons. Compared to GENs firmwares M33 have a better track record of releasing stable CFW.
In my testing of GENs firmwares the last 3 releases from them were all buggy. They have a good working 550GEN-B2 and introduced a heap of bugs in GEN, C, D and D2. I was expecting an GEN-E as D2 is still full of bugs and crap.

No they could be waiting to release it when they figure out a way to keep SONY from patching it. I would do the same thing but I wouldn't flaunt it on the net like they have. Gives people the wrong impression. If they truly never intend to release it just because they don't want to, then yes I would flame them to.
