View Full Version : New IP's on the way from Insomniac
Ah so it looks like there is more to Insomniac life than the Resistance franchise. Their community manager recently denoted that it would be foolish not to think that the team were also working on new and original video game IP.

hopefully it's something pretty good, which it should be coming from them.
i'm not the biggest resis or ratchet fan, but those games are definitely worth playing.

Hopefully it's an improvement on the attrocious resistance games, first one looked like a PS2 version of CoD, the second played like a PS1 FPS with worse AI. Not holding out much hope on the quality of their new IP if those 2 games are anything to go by.
^lol and your opinion is fact ? lool.
they might not be the best shooters out there, but they aren't no where near as bad as you make em out to be.

Well consiering your first post basicialy says that the game should be good comming from them which kind of says they make top quality games, then you go and say that the resistance games may not be the best, does kind of make your first comment wishfull thinking.
I know of noone who actually liked resistance 2, infact any one of my friends who I ask who have played it say it has the worst AI of any game they have played since old PS1 shooters and even they weren't as bad. You may be happy with a sloppy produced game that has enemy auto lock on instead of AI. The thing is I didn't believe it either when I was told that initially, tho I now agree with my mates who warned me off it. i even tried to sell it at my local gamestation but they said they weren't buying anymore copies as they had too many due to so many people trying to sell it, you may disagree but that speaks volumes to me.
I still remember being in a shop int he game looking for dropped items while the rest of the squad was some distance ahead in an open area down an alley way and around the other side of another building, all the zombie things ignored them and ran straight to me. I guess they had psychic radar AI instead. Same goes for sentry guns that would target doors before they even saw me to walk throught them, the guys with the guns that shoot through walls, shooting me several rooms away before they are in range to even use the guns ability to see me though the walls, and many more dire AI issues.
As for the first game, thats just using my eyes, they even admited that it wasn't the best looking game, so again you may disagree but that doesn't make it look any better. The one plus is it played a hell of a lot better than the better tho not fantastic looking sequal.
I guess with the 2 games you have 1 average game, nothing to praise them for. The only reason the original did half decently was it was the only choice, there were no other options, I can guaranteee tho had both been multiformat they would have been panned by everyone, includign PS3 devotees. I was playing FPS on 3 formats when I got the original, which is why I was seriously unimpressed, and got suckered by the hype on the sequal.
One plus is that i never believe the hype on any game now thanks to wasting my money on resitance 2, so it was plus there.

I gotta agree with you here on R2...it was crap. The 60 players online was nice but gameplay sucked. On the other hand, I loved R1. I beated it in coop like 5 times, single player like 3 and the multiplayer was nice.
