View Full Version : Installing CWCheat to flash?

I have a PSP-2000 on 5.00 m33-6 and have recently purchased an official Sony 4gb memory card.

I have two other Sandisk 1gb memory cards with CWCheat on them and it loads perfectly, but it will not work on the 4gb card. I have gone through the installation process completely and can find no flaw in my method. I have also researched this issue and found that other people have had the same trouble with larger memory cards and CWCheat, but fixed the problem by installing it to flash.

The only information I could find about installing CWCheat to flash was for older firmwares than 5.00 m33-6 and I am reluctant to attempt the installation. Does anyone know how install CWCheat to flash successfully?

edit~

"A work around to this problem is flashing cwcheat to flash in the kn folder and modify the pspbtcnf_pops.txt / pspbtcnf.txt / pspbtcnf.bin file to load /kd/cwcheat.prx after $/kd/mediasync.prx"

The above text is located in the FAQ.txt of the latest CWCheat rar, but I am still hesitant to try this since it mentions outdated firmware (3.71) and even issues a warning. Does anyone know if this works on 5.00 m33-6?

There is no reason this wouldn't work from the memory card (Works fine from my 4GB). Why don't you just format the card, copy the entire contents of one of your other (Known to be working) cards to the 4GB, and see if that works (It should).

Also, what other plugins do you have? some are known to conflict with each other depending on which order they are placed in pops, vsh, game .txt files.

I tried formatting the card. Also, I have used the seplugins from the working cards on the 4gb to no avail and a fresh install. Since I have actually gone to the trouble of researching this I know that other people do have this problem.

The only plugins I have enabled are cxmb, cwcheat, and cwcheatpops. I have also tried disabling various plugins and it still doesn't work.

As the title to this topic states, I would like to know how to install CWCheat to flash.

Please and thank you.

I understand that, but one last attempt, rather than "disabling" the plugins, have you tried removing them completely and only including CWCheat, plugin collisions occur (Strangely) even when disabled (for some reason), I'm almost sure this is either a simple error on your part, or a plugin memory collision. There is no reason this wouldn't work with your card, flashing plugins to flash0 does work, but i wouldn't recommend it.

I won't say any more on the matter :)

Edit: if CWCheat works on its own, without any other plugin existing on your MS, then you need to re-order your vsh, pops and game.txt plugin order, if that's the case i will post mine (I run a plethora of plugins, but because of collision issues, in my case POPSLoader and CFWE i have to order them in a specific way)

Edit2: Do try not to be "funny" with people that are trying to help.

I am running 2.2 RevD and I am pretty certain I didn't screw up the install. I have done it several times before for different memory cards and I have gone through all the steps completely.

Funny? Hm. Here I thought I was being polite. While I do appreciate your help, I would appreciate it even more if you helped when with what I actually requested.

There are no known issues with loading any plugin from any memory card, even if that card is non standard and/or fake, if one plugin loads from MS then all will, no plugin "prefers" a certain MS (Hence my suggestion of formatting and copying an MS with working CWCheat to your new one, and removing everything else except the plugin you require, standard fault finding procedure - Isolate the fault, electronics, programming or logic.. the path is the same), you either have a plugin memory collision or you did not install it correctly, it's doubtful (in all cases) that the issue is your memory stick.

As for installing to flash, without looking i don't know, for that reason I'll leave it there, and stop bothering you.

Good luck.

There are no known issues with loading any plugin from any memory card

The developers of CWCheat believe otherwise, as stated in their FAQ.

"Q: whathever i try to load cwcheat it's menu doesn't come up. what's wrong?

A: it seems that if you have a slow memory stick the plugin support can't load your prxs and cwcheat is more affected because it's a 100KB+ prx (so quite heavy). ATM lexar and datel memory stick/devices seems to be affected by this definitely and can't be used to load any prx. Dark Alex fixed the problem only in 3.90m33-2 so if you are affected by this you might want to do that update. Another solution, but which works only for isos seems to be m33 no umd mode. A work around to this problem is flashing cwcheat to flash in the kn folder and modify the pspbtcnf_pops.txt / pspbtcnf.txt / pspbtcnf.bin file to load /kd/cwcheat.prx after $/kd/mediasync.prx (be carefull that kd and kn can change depending on the firmware version so be carefull with this)"

While I do not have a Lexar or Datel, the issue with CWCheat not loading does exist and--regardless of what you think I should do--I want to install CWCheat to flash. And why not? It is possible, it should work. It would be more convenient for me personally since I have multiple memory cards.

When I resolve this issue myself, I will post a step-by-step process of how to install CWCheat to flash. That is what this topic is supposed to be about.

lol... there where issues with all slow memory sticks and any medium/large sized plugin, yours is not one of those, so there should be no problem. Even so you'll also note that the issue was solved in 3.90M33-2:

a friend of mine from Noobz once made a cool program for me and it has since then worked up to 5.00m33-6 (havnt tried the third party hacks^^) but ye there is a way, and w/e method u were looking at does work.......

however i should mention that messing around those files (the boot order of the psp) if one of those files is missing or corrupted the psp will not boot. this doesnt mean you perma broke your psp it just mean have a jigkick on hand or a way to boot your psp with an injected IPL/Time Machine

i havnt really touched the psp mod scene since 5.00m33-2 but im sure this works.......i just think i may have used the worng term somewhere

ps. i still load cwcheat from flash

Hi,
Appreciate if someone can help me?

a) How to use cwcheat with 5.03 M33-6 ( psp 2006 ) ?

I'm trying to get CW Cheats and must enter recovery mode, to do this I must hold power button up (Reset without turning on) then hold R and hold power switch up and it should enter recovery mode.

The problem is, it needs to be hacked to enter recovery mode and when I hold power up (Reset) it loses it's hack and therefore I cannot access recovery mode.

Thanks a lot...
