Microsoft's Shane Kim has given the most significant indication yet that MS are planning to produce a Portable Xbox console. He told a gaming publication that it's just a matter of 'when' in reference to producing such a device.

<blockquote>"For us, it's a matter of focusing on 'when', because if we chased after a mobile or handheld opportunity, we would not have the resources and ability to do things like... Project Natal. So we've chosen to focus on the living room experience from a hardware standpoint, if you will, but we're building a service in Live that will... will extend to other platforms. No question about it.</blockquote>

The day Xbox Portable is out and about is the day Microsoft's Zune line-up is officially dead.

When do you think Microsoft will release their own portable game system?:

Surly I can't be the only One here that would rather see a "Portable Xbox", then Project Natal. Ja it might sell more ~gimmicky~ Games to the Wii Crowd, but, One would think that they would have had enough Games already.

But, given that Project Natal is virtually complete now, here's hoping that Microsoft get off there duff, and do this.

I suppose when it (if it), ever comes out it'll be digital distribution ONLY, which would kinda suck. But I really hope that Microsoft would use the opportunities to build something that was a hellova lot more comfortable to play then the PSP.

And that a Handheld should not be =/= to a Home System w/epic hourI(s) long sessions tring to beat that level in GTA.

I fear that Microsoft will um loose that plot too, making whichever Nintendo Product out there still the raining champion of Handhelds...

So long as it's not another Gamegear, it could be a contender. Battery life is going to be one of the major concerns I would look at before deciding whether or not to purchase. A stunning visuals handheld is no good if it can only last 3 or 4 hours. AT a minimum it needs to last as long as a PSP, ideally around 8 hours would be perfect, it could then last a typical working day.
