View Full Version : Upgrading from 5.00 M33-6 to latest official firmware cause a brick?

Or will the custom firmware prevent this happening by saying it is already updated to latest? The reason I ask is that I put custom firmware on some friends psp's but strickly told them not to update to official firmware and I'm afraid they might anyways because they forgot.

No, it will be fine, say they have 5.00M33-6 installed and they "accidentally" install 5.50 Official, because they are retarded or something... M33 firmware will be overwritten and their PSP will simply work like normal with official firmware, they will call you and say things like "My emulators don't work any more, and i can't play my games" at that point you should remind them that you told them not to update, and ask them why they are such morons.

network updates are hacked, they will not connect to sony but to m33

yeah, the network update is hacked but his friend still can update it manually (by downloading the eboot.pbp and puting it in the psp/game/update folder or with an official UMD no?

can't you block that in recovery iirc?
anyway it won't brick, it will just install the latest normal firmware.. you'd have to pandora it again
