nforce is my preference but intel ich any flavour is fine, no need for via!

cheers mate.

so let me get this straight. for first initial flash any sata chipset will do either nforce or intel.

only because the jungle flasher tutorial states via chipset

Any chipset works for liteon. I remember Benq or samsung requires a via, but not sure which one. If you don't have one now, I recommend you buy via because you may need it later on due to its best compatibility!

JungleFlasher tutorial doesnt say you need VIA/Nforce, it just uses them as a basepoint as most have the via 6421 chipset as its cheap.

Nforce is the better of the two (IMO)

Brisk5181, VIA is not essential for any drive now.
