Upgrading from 1.4 to 1.51

Okay, I know 1.6 is just around the corner, but I'm too inpatient, and I want to flash my Hitachi from 1.4 to 1.5i (due to the new wave).

I have a few questions..

From what I understand, for 1.5i, you need to use a new program called JungleFlasher? (correct me if im wrong) so I cant use the old way aka toolbox anymore?

I need to restore first, but I lost my original firmware, how can I do this via JungleFlasher?

Is they anything else I need to know, as last time I flashed, it was pretty straight forward, but now, things seem alot more confusing?!

Any good guides to follow?

just use jungleflasher for modeb,i find i can only read with it but,i get errors when trying to write.i just use fw toolbox to write the firmware to drive.

you can use fw toolbox but,you cant use the smart hack patcher bit,you need to just open the firmware and use the differential flash patch bit.

you should read the drive,assuming its a 78/79 it will have key location,if lower there is only one (i think) there are 4 key locations for 78/79 drives,thats just 8 fw's just there.

do a dump of the drive,either fw toolbox or jungleflasher.so you have key and can see key location etc.save the firmware to cd after dumping.

so assuming you got correct orig.bin (from ixtreme1.51 package) flash that to the drive first DO NOT OVERWRITE THE KEY ON THE DRIVE,KEEP IT!

just load up the ixtreme1.51 for your drive in fw toolbox and differential flash patch it to the drive.

for 79 drive it will need unlocking (jungleflasher will help but,you need the 79unlocker cd) fw toolbox requires a game or movie be inserted.

basicly hitachi are still the same but,you cant use smart hack patcher,it will only be as easy or hard as you make it.
