As some of you may know, I had bought some "office depot" branded mini-dvd's since someone on here mentioned they work. Well I burned 2 games and they both arn't being read on my gamecube (just get black screen). I went ahead and ordered some of those Ridata G04 mini-dvd's from blankmedia up here in canada.
In the meantime, I decided to try out the games I have downloaded using the s3-gcsim.dol file that is used for the gamecube. On the pc side, I have tried both Phoenix program and the gsim program that allows you to also stream N64 & GBA files to the gamecube. while streaming the couple games I have (mario strikers, mario tennis).. the game will give me the error about disc reading problems while playing.
With mario strikers, it seems to run ok until I score my first goal, then I get the black screen saying there is a dvd reading problem & to contact nintendo (no matter what character I choose for myself & the opponent). For mario tennis I will get the same error sometimes on the main screen (while picking what type of game I want to play, like exhibition), and other times it will just lockup within a few minutes of playing a match.
This doesn't seem to be time orientated because in mario strikers, I have scored a goal quickly, and have also just ran the ball around the field for a couple minutes and then scored.
Anyone else notice similiar issues or are there better programs out that work with this now? I'm using windows XP (all firewalls off). pc & gamecube are linked into a router.
I was able to stream FF4 for gba to my gamecube without any issues (probably because game is stored in gamecube memory). speaking of that, how does game saving work for the GBA stream... is saving streamed back upto the actual rom or is it saved in ram (and gone once gamecube is reset)
