Problem with updating sammy ms28 1.5->1.51

Hi. I have Samsung ms28 drive with ixtreme 1.5. I wanted to update it to 1.51 today.

I have the newest JungleFlasher and the tutorial. The tutorial, howevery, says very little about unlocking samsung ms28 with ix 1.5 - only one small image. So it's possible I unlocked it incorrectly and that's why it didn't work.

What I did:

1) Connected 360 drive to VIA SATA Card via SATA cord
2) 360 drive connected to X360 via power cord
3) Ran both PC and Xbox
4) Ran JungleFlasher
5) Clicked MTKFlash32 Tab, clicked the right port in MTKFlash32 tab (my drive appeared)
6) Ejected 360 drive tray
7) Pulled the 360 drive power cord out
Cool Pushed the tray halfway in
9) Inserted 360 drive power cord

There was no data in Flash Chip Properties, all fields were empty.

Now, that's interesting - when I flashed 1.4->1.5, I'm almost 100% sure it said it's samung ms28, and now in drive properties it says it's LiteOn!

10) Clicked Intro/Device ID

In Drive Properties "Drive in Vendor Mode!" appeared. No info in Flash Chip Properties, however. All fields empty. No signal of the 0x70 status.

11) Clicked "Read"

I got message "Invalid drive status" or something similar.


When I tried it for the second time, after clicking "Intro/Device ID" it shows me :

And JF hangs.

I also tried 1.51 modification disc, but it doesn't see mt drive.

then simple.

use dosflash32,if you are trying jf then i see no reason why you cant use dosflash321.7,just install portio32 driver if it aint installed on your pc.

a simple read then create the ixtreme1.51 with firmware toolbox and a simple write.no need for tray half open.

dosflash, you mean iprep?

PS.: Oh man, I forgot some very important fact. I broke my primary SATA port on my card. (CF00) I have already successfully used the second one (CE00) with another ms28 drive. But iprep only lets to use the primary port.

I think I'll borrow the VIA card from my friend. I think it's the same as mine (he uses it to flash his liteon)

Where can I find it? I can't find any google results clear enough to be sure where I can download the newest version from.

It's not on xbins.

Oops, sorry. It's there. Found it. 1.7 is the most recent?

So it's wiser to uninstall VIA drivers before dumping?
I've read something like this in the readme.

Why are people using JF then? Dosflash seems like 5 times easier way for flashing.

Despite the fact that it turned my DVD drive off after launch, and after closing forgot to turn it back on.

OK, so I launched PC and X360 with drive connected to VIA card. I launched dosflash (it recognized my drive). It told that DriveIntro failed (or something like that) and that I need to power cycle the drive after clicking "Yes" to resend.

After clicking "Yes" it gave me "Sending MTK Vendor Intro to port 0xCE00... Status 0x51"

After powering off the drive (unplugging drive's power cord), waiting 10 seconds and plugging cord in, my PC hanged.

Or should I have turned whole 360 off ? (I did so when I updated 1.4->1.5 with iprep)

theres no need to wait 10seconds even though you got an ms28.

just power on the drive,send mtkintro after you press yes second time just turn off the power then turn on again.if you cant get device id then just hit the device id button.

with dosflash32 theres no messing.just send mtkintro,power off and on again.if the pc locks up just wait as it takes a minuite sometimes for dosflash32 to start working.

by "power off and on again" you mean power cycle drive (removing/plugging in power cord) or whole xbox (power button) ?

Ok, well, I let dosflash run for 6 minutes and 10 seconds after power cycling the whole console... It obviously does not work. The PC does not hang, but dosflash does not respond. All the time the same status: 0x51.

I'm updateing ms28 from ixtreme 1.5 to 1.51 and want to use dosflash 1.7 will this unlock drive automatically or do i have to do something else?
