Ive always used a dedicated PC for xbox flashing, but years ago i bricked a couple of hitachi drives and Ive never bothered since.
A mate gave me his and its hitachi - i said ill give it a go, but if things start to not go my way ill stop..
Anyway so im using the new jungle flasher. After a few issues, i think ive managed to get it reading the firmware from the drive. However, after a few dots it fails.
Is this a problem with my VIA card? Should i stop now if its having problems at this stage (i dont want it to fail during writing!!)
any advice? thanks

I had a similar issue with my nforce chipset.
It worked fine on mine if I changed from PortIO top WindowsIO after doing the 78's Mode B and Refresh.
Hope it does the same for you

Managed to get the firmware on the vista machine using the built in SATA.
However...
when i do the next part, it says "dumping flash: upload buffer failed".
Oh dear.

all done :)
I was being silly and misread the instructions - there is a part on flashing ixtreme over ixtreme - this is what was causing the dumping problems after.

is this from scratch or from an old ixtreme?
i did get the ram poke failed, but that was cos i was following the instructions for overwriting ixtreme (when there wasnt any on there in the first place).
After i grabbed the firmware from the drive, i click flash ixtreme and it just seemed to work.
I had so many problems along the way though, at least if i have another hitachi id probably know what to do.
