I can give further details about the mod if you contact me, but basically, the most significant factor is that a genuine PS1 or 2 game is required to sit in the PS3 for at least 8 and a half minutes before inserting a back up or else the PS3's laser will die eventually, waiting the 8 and half minutes will keep the PS3 fully operational.
