Clever hackers have found a way to get debug firmware running on a retail PSP, check out the video proof below...

no, real advantage if you already have CFW, imo.

Surprise us with PS3 CFW! :)

Actually this is testingtool firmware which has fewer features than the proper devkit firmware. On a retail PSP it isnt able to load games, homebrew or do anything useful.

...and the things it can do you see in the video can be done by cfw as well...

well first off, this is something that could not previously be done. So this is a big achievement for these guys.

Heck if u found a way to turn everything you touch purple...it might not change the world as we know it, but it would be quite an achievement.

However, one cannot help but wonder if this would assist in getting the debug to run on the ps3. I think we need some more info about exactly how they got the debug to run on the psp though.

I remember hearing that CFW can be better because you can get kernal access to test stuff.

Also we need the SDK to make this useful......oh well I will probably try it for a laugh some time if it is released (I have a dump of my nand chip).

it is almost like CFW , and will be very very good for PSP 2000 TA88v3 and 3000 because we cant run CFW on it but now we can have debug firmware ! it have original Sony IPL I guess :) so it will work on PSP 2000 TA88v3 and 3000.
Maybe using Gripshift possible to install debug firmware...

you MUST be really confused, they will have cfw on ps3 at some point, might not be today but someday.

Nothing useful at all? Not even useful to hackers? Ya see, I was vaguely hoping that this might lead to further breakthroughs. Not that the average user would want to install it, but that it might help developers work on new stuff for the PSP. Am I on the wrong track completely?

lol Your off your medication arent you?? So can you do this on a PS3?? no? fucking amatur.

Get over yourself.

This could lead to a lot of aditons in CFW. Like chaging the UMD cache size.... the usb GPS settings and the chaging of the available memory.....

For all ignorant People, this meant nothing for the psp3000-2000ta88v3 because, you can't boot up with something that havnt been signed by sony.
Also, why the **** start with a cfw for ps3? Get yourself educated that cannot be done in the same way.

I found this interesting but with all of those plugins for modifing the XMB and such, or it is fake or it dont do nothing new.

Not useful at all, and it can be easily installed by getting the data.psp and data.psar and rebuilding it into a proper updater EBOOT.PBP, then you rename the eboot to 500.PBP and use the official firmware installer in Despertar Cementerio to install it (as it won't run from the XMB).

I do not totally agree on that. I saw some functions within that video that might be worth looking at. Just to know what they do. For instance, why do they want to verify a game ISO and what use will it offer?

this board is full of retards. i will keep it nice and shine today as i do not want to re-create another new maxconsole account because of flaming an immature dickhead.

why do people think that hacking consoles with almost identical abbreviations (PSP ~ PS3) are hacked in a similar way ? do people on this board even know whats involved in hacking consoles ?

that's also the reason why dark-alex left this board months ago...
