Ever since I flashed my Liteon I noticed it only seems to like verbatims.
I've always used pidata and never had a problem with them on any drive but now they all give me dirty disk errors but are fine on other machines.
Has anyone else found this?
i've heard similar reports.
i guess the lite on isn't that great after all.
not sure tho.

well mine is so bad im considering either installing my spare ms28 and taking the ban risk or getting a replacement liteon from somewhere:mad:
I did make a post the other day to see if anyone had any info on tweaking the laser but no one responded. I might just measure it and adjust it a bit, do some experimenting....unless other people would be prepared to take some readings and post the results?

This is why everyone says to use Verbatims.

Mine runs perfectly, what ever I throw at it. So far I have used 3 different brands of disc and all work without an issue, including aone discs which are meant to be the worst.

its wierd, i'd love to get a few people to measure the pots but it means stripping down the xbox again. Maybe i'll have to get some of the modders on board (saleem, ash ect) anyone willing to measure some pots and post the results next time they have a machine in bits?

Not much help.... but I just done a Liteon straight out of the shop.
I only ever burn Verbs @ 2.4x and verify every burn so it's 100%. Never have any probs with media so it's not going to add anything to your research. I expect perfect boots and thats what I get :-)
However, in the interest of research I took readings of the pots.
Left POT (drive tray facing up) would not read properly no matter how many times I tried. It gave a reading of 0.60 which I THINK is way to low so I guess can't be right?
Right POT consistently gave good readings of 6.50 which compared to SAMMY/HITACHI is quite high. But all the same.... I let it be.
As expected, when put back together and tested all my verbs booted perfect.
Not sure if this is even remotely useful, but as it's no skin off my nose to take readings I can post more as and when I do them if you think it will help?
Really, it's probably a media thing. I would never even entertain any Piodata cr@p. I requested many times that people with DRE's do a media scan to see how many errors their media has. I scan my burns regular as clockwork and the errors are always well within reason. I would imagine if you read back some of the discs giving you grief, the graphs (PI/PIF) would show how bad your burns are.
