My understanding is you can. I use a 8gb which is enough for my purpose

16GB should work just fine on a phat PSP, as long as you have the latest firmware version. Whatever firmware you are using, make sure it's the latest and you should be good to go (version 5.00 M33-4 for CFW, 5.02 for OFW).

will an 4gb work with the downgrading and the upgrading to custom firmware. i am going to order this one
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-SDMSPD-4096-A11-Memory-Retail-Package/dp/B000FFISV8/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1231800074&sr=8-1
but i want to make sure i can downgrade to 1.5 then upgrade to cfw with it.
p.s. decided to go with this 4gb off amazon rather then the 8gb off ebay.

Guess the bigger the better. I thought the version upgrade should only be done if you want to play the latest games?

This is helpful to know, I'm looking at upsizing my 2GB for a 16 or 32 :)

i belive you can use any size but i stick to 8gb so it isnt to much for one memory stick to buffer through!
