View Full Version : problems extracting lite on key in jungle flasher
i installed portio32, i hook up everything correctly. Im using connectivity pro with probe. I turn the kit on eject lite on drive. Turn it off, push drive half way and turn it back on. I then get the probe and place it abover r707. I select the correct drive in jungle flasher and correct com port for usb adapter. I go to extract and it costantly gives me a bad key, any ideas?

Are you putting the probe in the little hole and then getting the green light turn on?

you say you eject the tray then turn off the power to drive, then you push the tray in and power on the drive.
that is wrong, your drive will be in open state, you need it in close state.
means basicly, you need to open the tray, then close the tray but, before the tray closes fully you need to then turn off the power, then make sure the drive is something like half way open.that way your drive is in close state with tray half open.

thats not the way i've been doing em saleem
eject drive with ck3 pro turn off power push drive in slightly click get key and turn the drive back on works everytime although thats with a solder bridge

be sure you select or type the correct port for your serial lead or usb lead.i use usb and i use latest dvdkey32v0.7,so i type:
dvdkey32 09f0 3
so 09f0 is sata port and 3 is usb port.
i find the top usb port at back of pc on the right is 3,as there is 2 serial connection where the keyboard and mouse go so thats 1 & 2.
regardless of what ando says all i know is what is said in the tutorials that went around when everyone was having to solder in the rs3232,i dont use tutorials as i already know how to do what i want so whether that works for you or if you have to do it the way i said is a different matter.
just try using different method for extraction, use dvdkey32v0.7,its pretty fast at pulling the key, also try usb if your using serial, you just require the sata port number and the usb one too.
also someone already pointed out that when the probe is correctly placed on the pcb in the correct via a green led will light up near the bottom.if it aint somethings wrong,be sure you stick the probe in the correct via its the third hole from the left if the rear of the drive is facing away from you.
leave it in place until you know the key was extracted.lifting it off will cause bad key error.

Also, if its lacquered you wont get Green Light, or, dim green light.
You can try the backside VIA - works fine.

Just for the record saleem, the drive tray procedure you use is the way I always do it and if I recall correctly, was the way we were all told to do it in the first place when dvdkey v1.1 was released.
Power on the drive, eject then close it and power off halfway closed, so the drive tray was in a closed status when powered off, power back on, fetch the key, Unless it was discovered later that you can just close the drive manually (maybe it is checked by the drive when powered on, that would explain it) and I missed it. However way, the way you do it (and I) has always worked for me!

Tray status (in most cases) has to be half open, eject status closed.
For the record, I manual eject fully, close half way, power with ck2

Pull the power from the DRIVE as its closing, then wait, then plug it back in, console thinks its shut, it doesnt send 'close' command to drive.

lots of trial and error with the drive half open business, if your probe is lit, and the bad keydump is almost immediate, you have the door too open or too closed. it was a trial and error thing for me though i did not power the drives down after ejecting at all, just ejected, then manually slid the tray back in.

I can't get this eject thing right so it's half-way and status closed. This sounds like what I need to do. So it's ok to yank the dvd power cord out and back in while the 360 is still on? Just want to make sure, sounds like there could be a risk of something shorting or getting fried.
I'm using a homemade adapter + probe and drawing power from the 360, btw, so I guess I would have to time it right to hit the eject to close tray and quickly remove power to the DVD drive before it closes all the way if that's safe and what people have been doing...
Update: So I tried the exact method of pulling the power from the drive as its closing, wait, then plug it back in but status goes from "closing" to "opening" and stays there at opening. Never can fool it into closed tray status. Seems the drive is smarter than me.

Open tray using eject.
Close tray using eject
Power off half shut by removing power to the drive - DRIVE, not 360
Wait
Power on drive
Good to go.

I've been doing this as stated in the previous post and when I unplug the drive, it goes from closing -> reading (split second) -> opening
Then, once giving power back to the drive, nothing changes in the drive status. Still says opening. Shouldn't it say "Open Tray" meaning it thinks the drive is closed? The center green light is still blinking, though. Is this not good?
I don't think I'm doing anything wrong and it might be something to do with the diygadget key extractor. I'm going to see if I can run an isolated test on it and make sure it's working properly.. Other than that, I don't know? I'm using the VIA 6421 but it comes up as 3249. I have flashed BenQs with it before but all in bootup DOS mode. I've been trying this with xtractor and jungleflasher. My next step would be to just startup in DOS and do it there instead.. Maybe it's something with windows...
******* UPDATE ******** ******* UPDATE ********
Well, looked like it was something with Windows because I did a reformat and clean install of Windows and everything worked straight off the bat. I'm not sure what exactly was the problem in my situation since I just wiped the hard drive and performed it fresh. I read the key using jungle flasher and finished the erasing and flashing in DOS with iprep 8 since my windows was locking up / freezing after the erase in windows with jungle flasher. It's all good now though :)
Can anyone help me out been trying to get the keys for days
all programs I use just lockup when I try to read the key my cpu stays at 99%/100 and it will stay like that till i end the program it doesnt give me any keys
programs tried
jungleflasher (detects drive)
ck3 tools (no drive detected)
xtractor (drive detected)
dosflash32 (detects drive but doesnt crash fails reading keys)
using ck3 pro and probe

after you have read all the info off the liteon.use jungleflasher to create your hacked ixtreme1.5,load the hacked firmware back into jungleflasher, that way you get to see that its prepared correctly (key etc) then go to mtkflash32 page.
just erase the drive.once you have erased the drive use dosflash to write the hacked firmware to the liteon.means just putting the hacked firmware on the root of the boot device, when it asks you for the name of the firmware just be sure to type .bin at the end.
even if the there is a lock up while erasing just use jungleflasher then use dosflash to write the hacked firmware to the drive.so if you get lock up just go to dosflash afterdont keep trying jungleflasher.as ong as there is an attempt to erase the drive or if it erases the drive completely just go to dosflash and do the write.
it will automaticaly erase the drive before flashing it.

could be you got faulty serial lead/usb lead whatever your using for pulling the key.
you know the key is pulled off the board via serial or usb lead?
also try another app to get the key,i use dvdkey32 0.7.
also be sure to select the correct com port and that its working correctly.

Hi Saleem
is there any chance I can pay you to flash my drive and if I sent you my ck3 pro and probe would you use them to check if there faulty?

Another tip is to power off the drive, un plug the sata cable from the drive then plug it back in and turn the power to the drive back on. Try to extract the key again. Team Xecuter recommends this in their tutorial and this has worked for me 2 times on 2 different LiteOns.
