as their exclusives. the biggest time for the past two or so years the ps3 has been out for their exclusives. and this is along with other games that were out for the consoles, yet they managed to sell 2 million?
i suppose there are two ways to look at it. "WOAH SONY SOLD 2 MILL IN A MONTH, THATS GREAT" or "yeah well, sony sold 2 mill at a time they had their biggest exclusive lineup blah".

this is right on par with sonys usual sales...
not many games sell much more then a million for ps3. and if they do, 360 has still always doubled that number.
and as for over 1 million ps3s sold... whered sony get their numbers from? i see under 1million sold

3rd way to look at it is that they released to many high profile titles at once and spread the sales to thin.
you also forgot Wipeout HD and SOCOM

Quoted for vast epicness.
This statistic is proof that the PS3 is not selling for gaming reasons. They had the biggest new title in the Playstation lineup for years, and sequels to two of the biggest games on the PS3 and they couldn't top the sales from 1 game on the 360. If they don't drop the price by $150 by next holiday season, they're fucked.

This is amazing! Especially since according to Time.com, there are only 200,000 PS3's the in the US. That game attach-rate is insane!
Insane, I tell you!

Yup, they had to lump ps2 and psp sales in with ps3 just to be able to say they sold 1 million last month

well sony got sequels to motorstorm and resistence, are those the two you where talking about? the issue with that though is those games don't get enough hype outside of the PS3 circle that a gamer that doesn't have a PS3 already is going to go buy a console for them.
its sad but sequels to big franchises sell consoles. and original ip's don't usually do super well at first. now once you have a big install base they can, but they don't usually at first. once the install base of the console is big enough those original games get attention and hype, but i imagine its hard to sell a new console using new ip's as one of your main weapons. i mean as a long time gamer i want to see new great ip's but it seems a lot of gamers just want the sequel to their favorite franchise.

I thought Motorstorm was really good and fun. If I had a PS3 I would get it. My only beef was the slow menus, lack of rumble. and the lack of splitscreen multiplayer, were any of these issues fixed for part2?

i haven't played part 2 but i didn't like the first one that much. it didn't have enough variety for me and it didn't play better than anything else i had played, but after the hype i heard about it though i had huge expectations so that could have been part of it.
i think there are enough racing type franchises out there that a game like motorstorm really wasn't going to be a system seller because it would have to of been one of the greatest racers ever.

Yes, Motorstorm 2 has splitscreen. In fact, up to 4 players can play splitscreen and it's great fun in this mode. The graphics take a bit of a hit (downgraded for performance reasons) and it really needs to be on a 50" or about TV (which I have ;)) but it's fantastic that they have included support for so many on a single screen.

Thanks for the answers guys. Playing splitscreen on the giant screen was why my brother got the first one and was a little mad that he hadn't checked the box more closely.
