hi,
I was wondering if anyone has information about the PSP error code "DADADADA".

A simple google search states the error is from "Running a FW Update in DAX custom FW". The error is being generated when attempting to run a multi-disk eboot of Final Fantasy VII. I have played FF7 till completion while on CFW3.90M33, ripped from my original NTSC discs so i know its not a "bad image".

I am on a PSP Phat, CFW5.00M33-3, with all of the fixes (popsloader, 3.71 fatsmod). I ripped the disks in Windows XP (through bootcamp on Mac OSX 10.5) using alcohol120% and made the eboot using RS Gui Popstation MD V3.0. The only thing i did differently this time was i added a custom ICON.PMF and SND0.AT3 to the eboot. When i go to it on the XMB, everything is as it should be, ICON.PMF is playing and the sound is playing (cant figure out the looping yet though....) but when i try to run it i get said error.

This is strange to me because i have successfully ripped about 50 discs and never had a problem. Im suspicious of the ICON.PMF, simply because this was my first time trying it. Oh yeah, my rendered video file was smaller than 500kb so i know there wasnt a problem with the size of it.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

why ask this here and not try it yourself first?
use psx2psp if you want, very easy (instead of RS)

Why am i asking a question about PS1 emulation in a PS1 emulation forum? Is there a better place to post?

I asked because i have never seen the error before, i was just wondering what is the cause of it, am i doing something wrong with the conversions of video and audio? I thought perhaps maybe someone else saw this error too? Also, the "DADADADA" error doesnt match the explanation i found using google.

Will try PSX2PSP though, thanks for the suggestion.

oh no what I meant to say was that it's impossible for us to know if it's because of your customizations of the eboot as we don't have them ;) So make one with and one without the pmf, same programs etc and compare! If you get DADADA again, don't customize with that pmf.

The DADADADADA error should ONLY happen when you're trying to run an official update on a very early version of CFW that had the updater blocked.

Why you're getting it on a PS-1 game is unknown and technically shouldn't happen at all.

OK,
It looks like the error was due to the first conversion program i used, which was Red Squirrels multidisk popstation from the 3.71 era.

I tested the files i was using for my FF7 eboot in the newest PSX2PSP (v1.4.2) and the eboot was created successfully, snd0.at3 and icon1.pmf are working correctly and the game boots like normal, sans error.

Which leads me to my next question. I have not been able to make the snd0.at3 loop!!!! I have copied all the info from "smpl to the end of the file" and pasted it before the data header but i still get no loops. Anyone?

Thanks for the tip on the PSX2PSP app manias...it works like a charm :D

I've never made one myself, but try using GWAT3 to loop it. Also remember that if it's above 500 KB it will not loop.
