Sony's Ray Maguire has expressed his optimism in the line-up of PS3 games. He added that Sony has never been in a stronger situation with regards to its Christmas line-up and it's the first time that Maguire can kick back and think Sony has five super strong titles.

When asked how he thought the PS3's Christmas software line-up compares to the Xbox 360's, Maguire replied: "I think we've never been in a stronger situation. This is the first year for me that I can sit back and think, 'yeah we've got five super strong titles'. Some of them ground breaking by creating almost a new genre and the others starting to really use the strength of the Cell chip and the graphics. When I look at LittleBigPlanet, when I look at Resistance, when I look at MotorStorm, and then I look at things like Abba on SingStar, before we even get into Killzone next year, I think we've got a line-up really to be proud of."

If Sony just lowered the PS3 price a little bit, this would really help them at Christmas.

It is a great line up but not the one i had hoped for, Killzone 2 just missing this period is not good & also i had expected FFXIII & GT5 to be here by now.

Its not even certain that GT5 will make next year :(

Yeah they do have strong titles, but this will be the first holiday season where they're going to have to deal with a $199.99 Xbox 360... without a price drop it'll still be hard.

lol this was quite funny

When I look at LittleBigPlanet good example, when I look at Resistance 2 ok example but if beta is anything to go by not ground breaking, when I look at MotorStorm 2 again ok but its gonna be somewhat the same to the original and get boring after so long unless your a die hard fan or gamer or motorstorm, and then I look at things like Abba on SingStar lol can't stop laughing, before we even get into Killzone next year did he say next year because im pretty sure that doesnt really class as christmas
.

Anyway as you can see he said five and then in his head sorta went **** i meant 3 i'll just think of the first other 2 that are close to christmas.

next year will be better can't wait for GT 5 and FF and hopefully some others will be announced.

But come on i have both the 360 and the ps3 and how can they say that they can relax, has he not heard of fable 2 ( granted buggy but i love it) and Gears of war 2 as both wipe the floor with any of them as i was dissapointed with LBP not my sort of game.

lot of good cross platforms so yeah its a strong christmas but i suppose its whatever console you have that youget it for and theres more 360's out there at the moment so it figures they'll probably sell more.

Well good news is at least its finally happening the PS3 is getting its good games out which every one is waiting for so thats good but don't kid yourself this christmas does not come close to belonging to Sony but next year may and probably will especially if any other games are announced.

I know it ends up being a lot of money in the end, but Sony needs to drop the price of the PS3 at least $50 for the Christmas holiday season. A $50 price drop will at least make it look more appealing to everyone that's in the market for a new system. I know the 360 is only $199, but then look at all you have to go and buy AFTER THE FACT just to get it close to being on par with what you get from the PS3 STOCK! $99 (new) $69 (used) for the wifi dongle, $59 for Xbox Live, $99 (60GB HDD) $149 (120GB HDD). That's alot to contend with when on top of that you'll want games and maybe an extra controller also.

When Sony says that the PS3 is at a good price point they aren't just blowing smoke. No one is really looking at what you are getting from the PS3 at that price and then letting the "GLOW" of Microsoft's $199 (bare bones) Xbox 360 blind them. With the way the economy is right now I'd think people would actually LOOK at what they are purchasing as a whole picture sort of view. $399 I get a PS3 (Game player), Blu-Ray player, hard drive, wifi and FREE online play (screw $59 for Live). Look at the difference people!!!!

spoken for truth but nobody sees anything but a price tag. I don't agree with m$ putting out a model that has no HDD especially when the people are going to find out that they need a HDD and find out that they have to buy an over priced proprietary one.

All easy to say in an online discussion forum... but when parents look at it in the shop/store they dont see what you are saying here, they see the console and its price.

Overall the PS3 may be better value and bang for the buck, but if you just want a basic system to start with and build it up gradually then the 360 is the way to go... and its the price that grabs your attention in the first place.

Anyway the PS3 cant do anything more than the 360 offers, other than play BluRay movies. The games are the same on both, exxcept for a few exclusives. If youre buying a console to play games the BluRay player is kinda pointless, then the Xbox360 begins to look more attractive sat side by side on a shelf with the PS3 when taking price into consideration.

Okay, so he says 5 super strong titles this Christmas? Okay, let's see...

1. LittleBigPlanet
2. Resistance
3. Motorstorm
4. Abba on Singstar (Super strong? Arguable)
5. Killzone... next year.

Even he can't find 5 titles he'd want.

Resistance will come after cod world at war and right now its looking like the best shooter this holiday season. But there is probably 70,000 people between xbox 360 beta and pc beta playing the game now.

I have 6 ps3 titles that are must haves this xmas:

1. LBP
2. Resistance 2
3. Motorstorm 2
4. Valkyria Chronicles
5. Siren Blood Curse
6. Socom confrontation

I am getting all of these though.

But the ONE game i am most excited about this xmas is my fav games of all timethe TOMB RAIDER GAMES. The new one looks SIMPLY INCREDIBLE. Seems like they learned a lot from uncharted and improved upon it drastically.

lol this was quite funny

When I look at LittleBigPlanet good exampleIs it? Build your own platformer. Wow!, when I look at Resistance 2 ok example but if beta is anything to go by not ground breakingI'm not sure how it's any less innovative than Gears of War 2, yet that is considered to be Xbox's biggest title for the holiday season...I'd definitely say Resistance 2 has to count, when I look at MotorStorm 2 again ok but its gonna be somewhat the same to the original and get boring after so long unless your a die hard fan or gamer or motorstormWhat are you looking for, exactly? A really high quality racer...not good enough? Newflash: all racing games make you run around in circles., and then I look at things like Abba on SingStar lol can't stop laughingI'm pretty sure if you laugh derisively at Abba, you get sent to hell, before we even get into Killzone next year did he say next year because im pretty sure that doesnt really class as christmasErm...Christmas...launch..window? Those windows are like 60 days now, you know.

Red was his commentary on original. Blue was my commentary on his commentary.

Anyway as you can see he said five and then in his head sorta went **** i meant 3 i'll just think of the first other 2 that are close to christmas.
I think it's fair to include multiplat games. I find it's the lack of games that keep me away from something, rather than an abundance of games that draw me towards it. E.g. the console launches.

There were no games in the Xbox360 or PS3 launches that really caught my eye. I considered both to launch with lackluster titles. Sure, some were "good". There are always "good" launch titles, which often turn out to be not so much "good" as "don't suck". They're just the best option out of a very small number of options.

Then, you take the Wii. It had a smaller number of games at launch, but one of them was one I wanted (Zelda). Five games I really want are more powerful than 20 games that I might be interested in. And if one of those games is LBP and the rest are multiplatform, that's fair enough to me, and it would entice me to the PS3.

Because, let's be real here, it's not like multiplat games do not exist. They just enrich all platforms.

But come on i have both the 360 and the ps3 and how can they say that they can relax, has he not heard of fable 2 ( granted buggy but i love it) and Gears of war 2 as both wipe the floor with any of them as i was dissapointed with LBP not my sort of game.Again, what is so innovative about GoW2, yet you call Resistance 2 uninnovative. Those are two high quality first-person shooters, last I looked.

lot of good cross platforms so yeah its a strong christmas but i suppose its whatever console you have that youget it for and theres more 360's out there at the moment so it figures they'll probably sell more. That means nothing from the consumer point of view.

Well good news is at least its finally happening the PS3 is getting its good games out which every one is waiting for so thats good but don't kid yourself this christmas does not come close to belonging to Sony but next year may and probably will especially if any other games are announced.
Yeah, they say this every year. The PS3 is a great console, but I have to agree with naysayers that it just really didn't work out well for Sony. It's too high-end and "complex". I do think the hardware is good, but you can't deny that Sony has lost a lot of money here, and has squandered their market value in terms of brand recognition. The PS2 is still bigger than the Xbox360 and PS3 combined, though.

Decent reply but i don't like LBP i said good as most do. Motorstorm has no customisation really or at least really good cars to unlock as most are the same just with bigger engines just like burnout does. I did not laugh at ABBA i laughed at the game like i laugh at a gorden ramsey game or most movie games i like the movies but the games are just stupid mostly(not always). Christams period to me signifies Christmas and a few weeks after as people spend money on them not many parents will pre order a game for christmas(not everyone).

Agree with you on launch titles but as far as cross platforms go i was saying most will be bought by 360 owners as the fact is there are way more people with them than a PS3, so i was stating Sony don't do stronger on that point not that the consumer cares.

Check again as GOW2 is a third person so i'm guessing you just have a wii and haven't managed to play it yet(not a stab at you having a wii), i do think GOW2 will be bigger as i think it probably is a more fan followed game, although i don't love it like most 360 owners i think its good and definitely better than resistance, i don't like resistance at all i thought it was a mediocre first person shooter and when i say that i mean nothing that really stands out from others.

and as for the PS2 it is bigger in sales and due to it being last gen loads of people have them and they have decent games but they are out of date now but still they have a great legacy just like other classics but it is essentially a classic in terms of it being a good console that is no longer the latest gen.

Last bit may sound wierd but thats how i view it and i actually had an xbox as i liked halo, fable, jade empire, kotor 1+2 and others just my personal preference so i biased towards that but thats another matter.

I'm unbiased with the new gen accept the wii as its great for some people but not my sort of console had one with all the good games and wasn't my sorta thing.

please don't bash any console unless you have it or have had it, you can offer your view but don't try to impose them as fact.

Am i the PS3 owners in this joint that paid 3x the console price in games so far?

yes, 1300 of games, including 1 set of instruments.

Whoever says that consoles, even for 500, are costys need to take a look at their budget ;)

and Yes, i'm running out of money right now,

New RB2 guitar arrived, valkyria chronicles, Naruto, R2..thats only this week/next week.

250$ of games.

First of all, the people who say ps3 has better hardware, and make up scenarios on how the xbox360 is much more expensive.

If you buy a arcade 360, you get a memory stick, a wireless controller, all you realy need extra is live if you like playing online.

Anyways, the games on the ps3 so far, cant realy compare to the games on the xbox360, as the 360 has so many more great exclusive titles.

And as so many other people have pointed out, the economic crisis wont help Sony this Xmas, alot of people will see the price tag, and choose the 360 instead.

I see the only people buying ps3 this year are older people (20 years or more) who have their own cash, and REALY wants to play a ps3 exclusive realy bad. (Like i did, with Siren - Blood Curse)

No, im not a 360 fanboy, i have both consoles, but the only game ive bought for the ps3 so far is Siren Blood Curse (wich by the way was worth every penny), i might buy R & C, and of course Killzone 2 when it arrives, but up to now the 360 is a much better console for me, cause it has tons of more games :)

PS: Sony, drop the price, if not much, then at least by a few $$, i know its not want you want and "that you have a business to run", but it is what the consumer wants, and if you dont listen to them, well then you are going to have a very poor Xmas sale compared to MS.
