It will be added in a future version of DC along with a new ipl that will not require mspformat.

Anyways, here i leave you this prx. Copy it to /kd folder; and in all pspbtcnf*.txt file, add the following line "/kd/mspatch.prx" after the line "/kd/msstor.prx". This prx can also be used to compatibilize the big cards with all things that use a 1.50 kernel (the addons of 3.71-3.80, the 1.5 kernel part of 2.71SE-3.52M33) using the same process described. (copying to km instead of kd in 3.71-3.80 addons)

Will mspatch.rar work on a 3.52 M33 PSP with this memory stick (That's the oldest firmware I use, I have two with 3.90 M33 and one with 4.01 M33-2).

Is the memory stick here here (http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-16GB-Memory-Stick-PRO-Duo-Mark-2-II-FREE-CASE_W0QQitemZ220289812635QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item 220289812635&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C 240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14) real or fake?

Thats an easy one:
If you see an MSPD on ebay, its fake!

Just in case you were wondering:
If you see a PSP battery on ebay, its fake too!

Almost all the MS and all batteries are fakes on Ebay. Only way to be sure you got genuine is to pay genuine

Just buy it from Amazon.com (from amazon.com itself not users). Its cheaper and safe. LINK (http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MSMT16G-Memory-Stick-Mark2/dp/B0013AX2HO/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1225319752&sr=1-5)

Not all batterys are fake. I bought a real fat PSP battery 1800mAh for 5$ and works great (its in service mode).

Bought mine off eBay. Working like a champ after 6 months or so. It might be better to ask if anyone (not anyone you know or have heard of) has purchased one from eBay and had a problem. I expect that your advisors below have not. The referenced one on Amazon is $40 more. I agree with folks that you ought to read the ad and check the sellers feedback, but beyond that, ignore the FUD.

Try not to buy from Ebay....

At first I cant buy **** online and every one is like buying things online is so great. I finally get a prepaid card so I am able to buy things online, and now I am told to try not to buy from eBay?

Anyways, now that I can, online shopping is great. I got lots of stuff I have been trying to get at stores for ages. I put in all this effort at stores to no avial, and once I go online and type what I want, it is mailed out to me ASAP.

I have tried all over and no where sells 16 GB. The highest is 4 GB and 8 if I am very lucky. I bought an 8 GB a while ago, but it didn't work (I think it was cuz I had CFW, since then I had 3.40 OE, which is half 1.5 and 8 GB needs 2.80)

Are the ones from Amazon all real? How does Amazon work, do they take Paypal?

PS, what's "Mark2" will it work on PSP and work for ISOs (Is MSM2 like SDHC?)

Mate, its yr own decision. Most likely u will get ripped off for paying high prices for fake sticks. In the end, you lose out cause the thing might not work out on yr psp. Get it off Amazon instead. That is still online shopping!

Okay on eBay I buy from people like me, on Amazon, do I buy from people too, or is it right from Amazon?

(If a stick off eBay is fake, couldn't I just give negative feedback? I doubt someone would sell fake sticks then [sometimes ppl on eBay beg you not to])

But does Amazon take Paypal? How do I pay?

Many of the fake sticks on ebay falsely report their capacity to the PSP. What may be labeled as a 16g card may in fact only have an 8g chip in it, and once you write more than 8g of data the contents will begin corrupting. The higher the stick capacity, the more likely this is to be true.

You can still spot fakes with the psp by checking for MagicGate Supported on the MSPD information page. You can access that in the xmb, under any media category scroll to the Memory Stick icon (don't open it), push triangle, and select Information. If you do not see MagicGate Supported, its fake.

The fake batteries have their own issues. Many times the capacity is overstated. Anything over 2200mah is probably being overstated unless the battery is huge, even many of the 2200's are really only 1800mah cells. The fakes also have much shorter life expectancies. The battery controller chip inside the unit may not manage the charge cycle properly, may misreport available capacity, or not linearly estimate runtime remaining causing the psp to shutdown unexpectedly. In rare cases, they may explode.

Those are the risks, its your money. Seller is some guy from hong kong? its all fake. Some guy in iowa, you might get lucky, or he might be offloading the stuff he bought last week from some guy in hong kong. You take your chances either way.

Yeah - i had a fake sandisk 2gb once and an original one. The fake one took at least 10 times longer to copy files over - was soooo slow.

Other than that though it was ok - no lag with cso/iso. I wouldnt bother with them though.

If your in the UK, mobymemory.com is prob the cheapest place get get a genuine stick from ;)

I have bought a fake from amazon, after i had bought a fake from Ebay cause i thought there would be no fakes on Amazon. Wrong.

Still, got my money back from Amazon at least.

Fake cards will work a treat but aint much good for read/write speeds or for MMS purposes.

Truth is when it is a fake sometimes they work as well as genuine just a bit slower. Its a lottery.

when you hit information, does it have to say "magicGate supported" or just "MagicGate"

Edit: i just looked it up on youtube and it has to say "supported" after magicgate. If it says unknown, then its a fake. Mine doesnt say anything after magicgate. It's probably a fake 4gb one cause it was super cheap compared to in store. But i have a lot of my ps1 games on it, and it runs perfect so far. Transfer speeds seem pretty good.

What's M2?

Does Amazon take Paypal?

If I buy something on Amazon, could it be fake? Do I buy from people or companies?

1) Can't tell for sure what is M2 but you can find it on wikipedia most likely
2) No, you need credit card as far as I know.
3) When you go there you will see a list of people who is selling it. Its people, shops, and Amazon itself. The previous link (http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MSMT16G-Memory-Stick-Mark2/dp/B0013AX2HO/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1225319752&sr=1-5) I gave you is from amazon itself. So if something happens you can easily return it back.

$105.05 is not that much and it got free shipping. Amazon itself will not sell fake MS.

I have a credit card but would sooner use paypal instead of give them my credit card number directly, but I guess Amazon can be trusted.

As for Mark 2, I quit Wikipeida. The articles there just make things more confusing and could not be true.

Amazon.com is safe so I wouldn't be afraid to give it to them since I gave all of my 3 credit card number. If you have citi then you can generate a virtual account if you don't trust them.

As of early 2008, Mark 2-certified versions of Memory Stick PRO Duo became available (Faster than the standard Memory Stick PRO Duo released before). The Mark 2 designation indicates the Memory Stick is suitable for use with AVCHD recording products or other faster Memory Stick enable devices by providing appropriate minimum write performance.

From amazon.com you can buy from 3 sources, amazon directly, another online company that sells through amazon and from the marketplace (from a person like in ebay but with set prices).

The link I gave you was from amazon.com ( you can see from who you buy the item below the In Stock notice on that page) directly so if you have any problems with the card you probably wont have any problems returning it, and as far as safety goes amazon.com is as safe as any other online retailer out there, I have a few credit cards registered with amazon and have never had any trouble so far.

I have bought a fake from amazon, after i had bought a fake from Ebay cause i thought there would be no fakes on Amazon. Wrong.

Did you buy from amazon directly or one of its sellers? I'm pretty sure amazon wouldn't knowingly sell fake sticks.

my sandisk genuine card says magicgate unknown and it's a lot better and faster than my original sony card

if it were a genuine SanDisk stick then it would say "MagicGate: Supported" like mine. Your stick is fake.

M2 doesn't mean mark 2 cards. M2 is the smaller Memory Stick Pro Duo Card, similar to the size of a mirco SD or Transflash card. Usually these M2 memory card are used for Sony Erickson Cell phones. Most M2 card does come with a Memory Stick Pro DUO adapter so they can be used for the PSP. Mark 2 Speed is supposely faster, but I haven't notice any significant write and read speed. As for MagicGate Supported or not supported, if you memory card said unknown, or unsupported, removed the memory card and then reinsert it. If it still says unknown or not supported, then it definately a fake, but sometime after you reinsert the memory card, it will say supported. The PSP memory card reader is sometimes slow or faulty.

I have a fake Sony card in mine that came with the PSP I bought from eBay. The write speeds are awful when copying files over, but it works just fine for running CSOs/ISOs/whatever.

I have had the PSP say my store boughts cards are Magic Gate: Unknown, but after a reset they said Supported again. It only did that once, and never happened again after I restarted!

Under MagicGate it says "Unknown"

Could this be why I'm having so many problems running ISOs?

Possibly. Since it's not made by Sony it could not have good quality...

I hear there is a program called "Fake card" that fixes fake memory cards so they don't have problems

I was browsing QJ.Net and came across this little gem. It appears that a Japanese company has designed a new microSDHC/SDHC adapters for teh PSP that will allow up to 64gb storage on the PSP. Here is the article for your viewing pleasure.

How would you like 32 GB of storage on your PSP? That sounds like an impossibility.

Stumbled over this gadget which makes external harddrives for PSP pretty much obsolete. Taiwanese based company Photofast offers an adapter that can hold up to 4 SDHC memory cards, totalling in 32 GB storage for your PSP! Combine 2x 8GB SDHC in 1 of their Dual Slot adapters and double that!

They also announced that it could soon go up to 64 GB max. storage!! But that's not official news, one of the sales guys leaked that through... He also said that they continually implement Sony's latest standards in order to keep their products compatible with any Sony device. Should be a pretty safe bet if that's true. Besides that, using their MS Pro Duo adapter CR-5300 saves you quite some bucks since SDHCs are much cheaper than Sony's official memory sticks.

This bit of information certainly seems like something straight out of a dream. Imagine what you could do with potentially 32 GB of storage on your PSP (heck, even the 16 GB pointed out in the pictures below is a big difference)! That's a couple of movies, music, and some homebrew right there.

In any event, expect us to keep tabs on this intriguing development. Folks, you better hope this comes out in your region, because it'd be such a shame if we didn't get to see this on PSPs everywhere.

PhotoFast CR-5400 Dual Socket Micro SD(HC)/T-Flash to MS Pro Duo Adapter

Convert the Micro SD/SDHC (T-Flash) to MS PRO Duo card.
Supports up to 2pcs of Micro SD(HC) cards.
Card types can be mixed.
Super high read/write speed of 10 MB/s and up.
Supports 1GB-16GB Micro SD.
For all PRO Duo -compatible devices, including the PSP.

Seems cool, I have an adpater that does one SDHC card and it says "Magicgate: Unknown" but I don't see any problems with it otherwise, however I have not tried ISOs on it...
