View Full Version : Lionhead respond to Fable II complaints with handbags image, make fans ANGRY
A number of gamers have been complaining about the co-op in FABLE II as it certainly is not what they were expected. Following a few complaints, a senior 'happy member' at Lionhead community posted an image of LOADS of handbags, and as you can imagine this hasn't gone too well with the complaining community. One gamer remarked "are you trying to anger the fans even more?! YOU ****ING LIONHEAD ARE ONE PIECE OF STAB IN THE BACK I THINK I WONT EVEN BUY THE ****ING PIECE OF **** GAME 60 BUKS LESS FOR YOU MOTHER****ERS." Ouch looks like things are getting ugly at Lionhead.com.

Whats the problem with the Co-Op?

Whats the problem with the Co-Op?You can't bring your own character into anyone elses universe. You only get to choose a pre-generated henchman while playing with someone else, both on Live or offline.
Even Too Human let you show off your gear to your buddies. Fable completely missed the mark on co-op.

That pretty much sucks...
so basically Co-op is a waste of time, as you wont get gear/money/experience for your offline char/campaign?

You will still get money and experience, but you can't show your friend what your real character looks like unless he joins your game.
Really stupid if you ask me, why can't the game include both our characters at the same time?

So far, the only developer that deserves both thumbs up from the gaming community is Criterion Games, what they've done with Burnout Paradise and it's DLC, is just a perfect example of how to treat a client.

 Makes sense to me, you're the Hero of your world... the person joining your world should be a henchman. There should be a way to view the other person's gear, and unless I'm missing somethkng it's a simple case of playing the henchman...
handbags

Jeez. It seems like a patch should be able to fix that. All it should be is a skin/gear

As you progress in the game, your character will change it's appearance depending on your actions and decisions in the game. If you tag along with someone else, your appearance may be changed due to your host's decisions and not yours. So that is probably why they left it out of the game.

I had a look at the lionhead forums...
The only thing I would want to say to those people is...
"It's only a game! Chill out, guys!"
Besides, last time I've checked, Peter Molyneux was still king in overhyping his own games and making promises that never materializes in the final product. I can't understand how people aren't expecting that by now.

Actually it does exist. It might not be on the disc but once you go on LIVE with the game it will patch and be completely available.

I think the handbag thing is hilarious. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. However it is a slap in the face to it's customers. I think these game companies need to listen more to the consumer as it is the consumer that buys these games.
Agreed Molyneaux does overhype his games.. but who doesn't? Got to market somehow.

British expression is "Handbags at 20 paces", more commonly shortened to just "handbags". Refers to when two blokes are throwing a hissy-fit and acting like old wimmin slapping at each other with their handbags, usually over some trivial matter.

Well after they explained the handbag think I also think it's funny, but definitely NOT the kind of joke you want to make at the expense of the people that pay your salary (the customer). When so many of your customers are angry at something you simply need to change it. I mean look at Lair, it's a great game, and I personally use the motion controls, , the game didn't do as well as it could simply because they took WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY too long to make the analog control patch available. Eventually this will piss people off to the point where they won't buy the game, and they will lose money all for being hard headed.

I would need to read the source thread but the question is - are they taking the piss out of ppl who have a genuine issue with the co-op not being as advertised or the forum kiddies who blow everything out of proportion and start throwing insults around?

Yea it does, the patch came out already. I've already played a few hours of co-op, works just fine.

Actually I often wonder if loosing the segment that felt offended would really be a bad thing? In the many industries finding a way to rid yourself of what they call the "1% ers" is as important as gaining new customers. There is a certain segment your never going to please, its far easier to piss them off and make them want to go away and try over and over to appease them. It sounds harsh but its true.
I didnt care about co-op in an rpg that is as dynamic as this one it would likely be more of a hinderance than a benefit, I guess it would make sense if both characters started together and played constantly together, but with two people playing separately and going "co-op" occasionally it would be a programmers nightmare, dropping in and out and trying to maintain a storyline is a bit much to ask. It would be revolutionary but its a bit much to hope for with current technology.

Hmmm! I see what you mean. Personally I couldn't have a business because I am definitely not the type to always agree with the customer, not that I'll start getting crazy and punching people or cursing them off, but if they are wrong, and they are being nasty about it I would probably tell them that I don't need their business.
Now that you mentioned the whole starting of together thing, I remembered how much I hated the fact that you couldn't start right away in co-op on secret of mana for the SNES, but that game was so freaking awesome that by the time I had find the rest of the party I didn't really care at all........... they should really make a PSN/Live remake with some nicer graphics, maybe some more content, or even better release the 3rd game in the series (the one that was fan translated and never released in the west). If they were to localize that game I think at the very least I would hi-jack one of my friends Wii; that's if I just don't go out and buy one (They are surprisingly easy to find nowadays). Yeah so I went off topic, sh*t happens :p
