Loading till *Checking memory stick* Screen.
I ripped something out,so I dont know if thats the Reason.
It dont freeze,i can always go back to psp menu.
I dont know which files are deleteable...
Sorry for bad english.
Maybe someone with a 2 Gb Stick can test it.

Crash Team Racing
Tested Full iso Dump - untouched with nada deleted
Fastloader 0.7 - Stops at 'Checking for memory card' blah blah stuff. I say 'stops' because it is NOT frozen. It doesn't access the memory card at all; AND I can still leave to the main PSP menu.
UMD Emulator (system menu) - FFFFFF error
UMD Emulator (direct load) - Stays stuck at UMD emu iso select screen with memory access light blinking... (that's odd since I thought direct load was the same as Fastloader 0.7 or at least that's what so many people claim)
DEV Hook 22 - Same response as Fastloader 0.7
...what does this all mean? Well it means I'm done testing. If someone wants to swap prx files or try already saved games be my guest.

I can see from the posts that running the game with the ISO emulators does not work, but I was curious if it will run with the UMD in a 1.5 ver of the Firmware that reports that it is 2.0? Any success running the UMD?

repacking it with NFS prx files.. let ya know in 10 min.
edit: sending the iso to my 4 gb hdd. ripped out update folder in the process of prx replacement. :cool:

after prx replacement it still fails @ loading savedata from memorystick.
think we need a blank save file so it finds that and goes on with loading of the game. otherwise it's yet another protection of 2.0 prx

umd emulator 0.8c works with directload and copyload not system menu.
fastloader works, devhook works, but all stop at checking memstick. well it doesnt check memstick at all, maybe a new sort of memstick protection?

i'm sure they add a protection ,which verify if there's no iso in ms.why?because ,lot of problems come with ms.a protection like securom,safedisc or other for pc.when they detect emulation you can't play.iso=emulation

That's because the prx which is used to save the savegames has changed in 2.0 and above. If we can get those pesky 2.x prx's working on 1.50 the problem is hopefully solved...

totally OT, but ... in dan simmons first two novels (_hyperion_ and _the fall of hyperion_), he used the poet john keats as reference; endymion is the 3rd book in his hyperion cycle.

i've ready hyperion & the fall of hyperion. haven't gotten around to endymion and rise of endymion yet.
and just to stay on topic... i've tried your decrypt eboot.bin, replace w/ 1.5 PRXs, etc. methold w/ crash team racing and no go. yeah, i saw some1 tried that already, but thought i'd have a go at myself just to make sure.

What i dotn understand is qwhy people are tryign to decrypt the eboot.bin for this game. The problem is with checkign the memory stick not the launching of thegame. its obviously something with the prx not the eboot.bin

because people dont understand what there talking about. They think every new tool is the solution to every problem but if they were even a little active in the scene then they would understand that what Aenea's excellent tool does is enable games with a blank boot.bin gain an actual one making the executable readable on 1.5, but seeing as they dont understand that quite a few of these non working games already have actual boot.bin, they just dont work because of the new checks

The only reason games like GTA need 2.0 to run is because they use new functions contained in the 2.0 prx's (the ones in flash0:/kd) which aren't there in the 1.5 counterparts. There are no checks, at least as far I've seen, they just want to link against those new functions and they aren't there, hence an error while starting it. Other games use functions which actually look the same, but behave differently (the games with savegame problems). Replacing prx files in memory is not so easy, yes for some, like MPH and SXT did with about 10+ or so prx files, but there are about 60 prx files loaded when the PSP starts a game, most of them aren't easy to get replaced. I have found a way to do it, but if it will actually work I'm not sure and it is still far from being even testable. I suspect I will find yet more obstacles to overcome when I get the 1st few steps right, so don't hold your breath.
Also, there is another way to get these games to run, that's actually replacing the references to the new functions to compatible ones, but since I'm not sure yet what they all do, this is also quite difficult (it means disassembling the prx files containing the new functions, have done it for some, not for all)... And worse, this way will get more and more complicated with future games requiring more new functions or worse, new firmwares which can't be decrypted yet and to be honest, Sony will make it more and more difficult for us to get them decrypted (eg. the decryption key and code for the 3rd IPL file in 2.60 is as of yet unknown, it is contained in the 1st 2 IPL files, the decryption keys and code for the prx files is probably contained in the 3rd IPL file, the decryption key for eboots and other files is contained in the PRX files. In order to fully decrypt 2.6 only games a lot of reverse engineering has to be done, it's possible, but a whole lot of work. Also, if Sony is any way smart, they also added a new decryption method for future IPL files so we probably won't be able to decrypt the 1st IPL files of fw 2.70+)... So as you can see, to be able to play new ISO's in 2008 we have to keep going at it and it's a lot easier for Sony to change some keys or some code than to reverse engineer it. They even might bring out a new fw every week with new keys and we never would be able to keep up. The future is grim...

The console has to decode the keys somehow to realize they are legit. This is true for all firmwares, because any firmware can update to the latest version. There has to be a hardware loophole somewhere, even if it requires resoldering in a dual-firmware chip replacement. As long as we can launch the latest firms and still retain 1.5 for when we want it all will be fine. Custom firmware holds promises, but as you said getting them to boot everything and anything will be a challenge in the future, sony is making money off all this - public coders are only doing it for the joy. As for now it seems that sony is just testing the waters and seeing what protections they can impliment and how they are publically worked-around, if at all. Once a hardware solution is found that will actually work as a spare firmware, or recovery firmware it will be a lot smoother waters IMO, physical dumping should then be possible a lot easier. If this will ever happen, who knows. Give it 5 years after the console is dead and everything will be clearer :D

Interesting notion .. this is what i actually wanted to try when i get myself some spare time, perhaps during the xmas days. Don't forget Sony can't update the API's too often because the game developers wouldn't be able to keep up..
Btw, i like the dj Endymion a lot :)

Why post in such an old thread. This game has been working untouched since the release of RunUMD and also works untouched with Devhook 0.44.
