hi i just bought 3 qoob pro mod chip.
My gamecube is the revision dol-101
I never installed mod chips before but what the heck!!!
I purchased a 20w-40w range soldering iron with all the stuff
you need to solder. No worries i am practicing right now on a old
vhs video recorder lol, damn thing kept eating my vhs tapes!!!It
will be a pleasure for me to do a noob job on it lol
I have read a lot of tutorials on everything etc. etc. etc.
If i understand right, there are 4 models of gc.
rev a dol-001, revb dol-002, revc dol-101, the last one d'ont know.
first thing that i find quite hard is to find the latest bios file for the qoob pro.i think it's 1.3c, maybe i am wrong.
second, i have no clue what so ever on what i want to put in the chip after. What i want to do is play bckp, copy bckp.Which is the best bckp utility out there and the fastest?, i heard of gcom.
And if i read right, there is a utility in the quoob bios section already for back up.any good?
third thing, i have read on a few forums that the qoob bios 1.3c has problems with the version dol-101 (rev c).
Ok to be honest, what would be the best set-up, to put in the qoob pro modchip for gamecube rev c, with all the diferent utilities, like i said i just want to play n ripp.
i think also i might of made a mistake on buying the qoob pro,
cause that chip might of been to expensive for what i wanted.
last thing, i am preparing all the files i need to get before i get my chips through mail, i am gettting them in 2 days.
Please help!!! Also if you give me some suggestions on things to put on, please tell me where to download or get it cause , c'ant find it anywhere,
anyways nice job on the forum and i will reply to my post to tell you guys how it went for me for my first time moding!!!
thks in advance
Big_tony_Le Mafioso, i play counter strike source too much lol

I have a broadband adapter, and a pc.
Sorry if i posted a fw questions twice on my earlier post.
I also purchased 20 mini-dvd -r ridata.
I will install the chips with the original top of the cube,
i d'ont want to buy the top cover to fit normal dvd -r.
Hope it's posible.
Like i said before, this thread will be like a tv reality
sord of noob installer lol
anyways laters

Hi Marcus.. I just got my Qoob Pro today so I'm no expert yet but I think I can help ya with a few things.. If you havent yet you should check out http://modthatcube.pxn-os.com/ Its an excellent site with tons of info.. for so reason I couldnt get any of the File Section links to work but if you register at http://www.tehskeen.com go to the Download Section and then "Mod That Cube -FAQ- Files" (http://www.tehskeen.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&file=viewcategory&cid=25) under the Contemporary Consoles section. There you should find just about everything you could possibly need.. Before I found that I couldn't even find BIOS files :)
Also, it was probably well worth the few extra bucks for the Qoob Pro due to the larger Flash memory and USB.. having to burn a DVD-R or connect the Network cable to flash the BIOS sounds like a pain.. of course its not something you do that often but still the USB feature is worth it to me.
If you do decide to get a a replacement case I would suggest going on Ebay and searching for "GC Viper Cases" you can get a nice case with a gamebit screwdriver bit for about $15.. which is the best deal I've seen. I have one and its a quality case.. plus it has cool flashing LEDs :) I havent tried ripping/burning any games yet so I can't help ya there..I get my burner in the mail tomorrow :D GCOM seems to be the choice from what I read though.. Good Luck!

I have a dol-101 (rev c) and the qoob bios 1.3c works fine on it, so you shouldn't worry too much about that.
Use gcom (version 2.2 is the latest) for making backups. You need to create a .dol file, and put that .dol file on one of the blank banks of your qoob pro. You put it on the qoob chip by flashing it through the USB cable, using the qoobflash utility.
You will need to run the gcom program through a command prompt. Read up on how to do it, it's simple, but if you need help, just ask. :)
The qoob pro is a great chip, you didn't go wrong there.

Once you have registered, go to the modthatcube FAQ, then supplements>File database.

That didn't work for me at least.. its as though all the link have changed.. it just took me to the tehskeen.com homepage.. That's why I suggested go here http://www.tehskeen.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&file=viewcategory&cid=25
Its the modthatcube file section of tehskeen.com so all the same stuff is there..

Yeah dudes!!!!!
I forgot to click the link in my e-mails to confirm my registration lol, omg i wasted so much time lol
anyways i downloaded the qoob bios 1.3c and the gcom ver. 2.2
I created a .dol file for the gcom, again i wasted a lot of time their, to make a .dol file you need to create a shortcut of the
gcomm22.exe and edit the second line in the properties of the shortcut, and aded the needed ip adress for it.
Anyways to get all this was really some hard work to do for a complete tv reality noob installer, my preparation is going nice now before i get my chips tomorow morning, i have 2 clients to mod their cube for this week-end.
Now if i understand right, i will need the program to flash the bios in the chip but does it come with the package in mail?
I have downloaded games over the internet to burn on mini dvd-r,
acording to forum rules, i can not give you links on sites to download the gc iso's so d'ont bother asking me where, and i know that if games are not 1.4 gig , i wont be able to play them on the cube cause some of the rom images have been wiped off all the garbage. There is a program to repair this but i guess i w'ont bother, it seems a pain in the bunghole.
ok now wich version of nero is needed tu burn games and is their something special to do in order to get them right.i have a dvd burner model: NEC_RW ND-2500A hope this model is ok for burning?
thks again in reading and following the episodes of....
The tv reality noob first time moding a GC. lol

The qoob doesn't come with any program. Get qoobflash from the tehskeen downloads, you can use it to flash utilities, including the bios, onto the blank banks of the qoob. Get qoobflash 1.3, the cracked version.
Make sure your DVD burner has the latest firmware flashed on it. Use Nero to burn the games. Cancel the Nero popup window, and click "Burn Image..." under Recorder at the top of the main screen. If you get an error message about the sizes not matching, or something like that, you may need to use fstfix to correct it. That's also available at tehskeen.
I experimented with burning speed, and it made no difference if it was 1x or 4x, they all worked in the GC. Finalize the DVD in the burning options, and you should be good to go.

Ok now!!!!!
I have received 3 quoob pro modchips!!!!
And omg the wires are so small!!!!!
I parcticed my welding on things much bigger than that!!!!!
The way i will try to solder now is that i will put some
on the end of my wires, and some on the contacts on the cube, then i will try to stick them together.I am not very confident about that gold place where i have to solder so i will try off
the alternative one in stead, cause it's so small and too close to the resistors. Thanks to maxconsole for all the advice!!!
I will try an atempt tonight on my own gamecube before i do anything on other gamecubes.
There was just one problem i encountered, on the quoob pro modchip, i can flash before with all the modchip intact?
Cause i just found out and realized that we have to detatch the usb connector part of the chip!!!!
What is a nice way of detatching it from the chip? Just by hands would maybe chip to far or something?
Anyways hope to have an answer soon, and hope you understand my question.
Tonight will give you the results, omg soo smallll!!!!!!!!!

I use Wire cutters to snip it off.

Flash the chip before you break it apart.. that's what I did. I would also recommend trimming back on the exposed wire a bit. Its nice that they came pre striped but so much extra wire could short against a nearby pin. The only one that needs to be that long is the black where you need to bridge two pins.. BTW, if you think this is hard you should try modding a PS2 hehe.. the wires are like thread! Gamecube is easy after you've done one of those! anyways.. good luck!

Omg really ps2 is smaller!!!
I call that micro soldering then lol
Thanks for the info , just want to say i managed to burn an iso
on a small dvd-r , with nero, i did not check finilize disk, i will soon find out later on, like i said before planing on modding mine tonight, i will post pictures etc...
Annother noob question?
For pal games, does qoob pro handle it?
Is there something special that i have to do?
If there is a webpage for instructions on loading up pal games
it would be apreciated
Thanks in avance
Here is my msn if anyone wants some advice or anything
like i said before, i am a huge counter strike source fan
i play a lot on noobies refuge.

Wohoooooooo!!!!!!!
Ok i made it lol
But had some problems.
The damn red wire, i soldered to the alternative but i bridged to
the next one, darn.
So i took a vacum thing to remove the extra weld.
I repedetly tried to weld that alternative part at that corner,
it was my last wire to do and my solder iron did'nt want to keep
the weld at the end of the tip.For some reason my tip needed to be exchanged!!!! I have the 12v to 40v from radio shack, probably it is too big, it's pointed but too long and i'm soo shaky!!!!!
Anyways after all sords of problems i made it and proud of it.
So for all you noobs out there taht never did an electrical weld before, i suggest to read carefully most of this forum and tutorials about that subject, especially for that alternative 5v!!
When i got my cube all mounted, i hook up to tv, saw the qoob bios at start up and my back-up of super mario all stars 7 worked quite nicely, to be sure i waited 20 min to let the cube warm up a bit.
Now i'm in buisness and will do the other 3 that i have to do lol
See ya
