I imported a white PSP recently and it has been working well aside from one problem, the down button on the D-Pad. When I press up, left or right slightly, they respond, but to get the down button to respond, you have to push the button down fully. This is really an annoyance for me because I can barely play at all like this. Will this problem fix itself over time? Is there a way I can fix it by taking the PSP apart? (I have no warranty anyway) Anyone else with this problem?

I don't think it's just my thumb, because the down button on my black PSP works fine.

My PSP has the same issue, kind guys at ceramic psp did a good job with mine though not 100% but is now a lot better than what it was. I know a shop in Scotland that fixes PSP I have one with them at the moment and it due back to me in two days. Will let you know how it goes and cost wise.

The problem with them well 70% stock out there at the moment are the joy pad unit which sits under the digital pad are faulty. Sony have now released the new batch of 2.01 firmware and the dpad seem to be a lot better info from (ceramicpsp).

If it turns out well, could you ask exactly what they did to fix it? I would like to open the PSP up myself to fix it because there's no way that I want to get a 2.01.

Got a phone call last night to say my psp is fixed and is on the way back. These guys are fast I tell you :-) Sent Tue (special delivery) £4.80 They got my psp Wed Morning and have allready repaired it. They called me to tell me it is done and will be posted today (Thursday for delivery on friday) Repair cost was £35.00 + £5 to ship it back so all in all I paid £44.80 yeah I know it is a lot but I can feel that it will now work 100% The joypad unit has now been replaced on it. My homebrew will still work too

My dpad was s**t down and up didn't work only 60% of the time I had to use force too and sometimes after playing I would have inprints of the dpad in my thumb. I felt like chucking this psp in the bin. I will be testing it as soon as I get it back Friday and will give you all an update, I must say service from these guys has been super.

1. Remove the battery
2. Remove 4 screws from battery compartment
3. Remove 1 screw from front edge under the PSP logo.
4. Remove 2 screws from back on opposite side of battery
5. Lift the faceplate from the edge above the LCD slightly.
6. Lift the front faceplate edge under the Home/Start button.
7. You need to be very protective of the little screw hole that is under the PSP logo of the Faceplate..
8. Do not touch the LCD screen if you can help it. If you do use a lint free cloth and windex glas cleaner to remove fingerprints and lint. Same thing for faceplate window.
9. Take out the rubber pad behind the directional buttons.
10. Clean the back of the rubber piece with a Q-tip and Rubbing alcohol.
11. Clean the contact pad that is behind the rubber pad/frame.
12. Press the rubber pad back into place carefully.
13. Be sure your LCD sreen and inside of faceplate window are clean.
Refit the faceplate.
Reinstall screws.

PS. RottonFox, try doing some research before you post.
