Speaking to USA Today, Tiger Woods has revealed that he now spends a whole lot more time playing video games as he is currently injured. He frequently plays his own game and Madden NFL 09 and revealed his friends will come over and each put $5 in the pot, with the winner taking it all! Come on Tiger, at least put $100 in their each to make things more competitive.
"I'm playing a lot more" video games, he said last week in New York, where he spent the day promoting the game. "I play my game and Madden (NFL 09, another EA Sports game). The guys will come over, and we put $5 in the pot, and it's winner take all."
This is the 10th year that the game has had Tiger's endorsement. Before Woods, the game featured such stars as Mark O'Meara, Vijay Singh and Fred Couples.
With Woods as a cover athlete, the game's sales have grown over the years (topping 2.1 million in 2007), enough to earn it the No. 2 sports game sales spot last year behind Madden, according to market tracking firm The NPD Group.
"One thing Tiger does that Madden doesn't is give us a global reach," says EA Sports president Peter Moore. "He is one of the pre-eminent athletes in the world, one of the most recognizable human beings in the world, not just an athlete."
