Heres todays new one
Running a PS2 backup on a 60gig PS3
Ok heres how easy this is

Load a PS2 game in the PS3 switch off and take the unit apart and bluray drive, make sure you dont short out the drive so prop it up
Ok power on the ps3 and the PS2 game will show in the XMB( now the hard part)
swap the PS2 non back up game with the backup when the disc is spinning press X

This was posted on here over a year by a bloke with more knowledge than you.
He had worked out some toggle switch combinations that would allow you to manually eject and re-insert the disk AND disable the sensor that detects disk insertion and removal BUT he pointed out that it burns out the laser as it is re-focussing on nothing when no disk is in the drive.

The other day you were talking about booting games from the harddrive after taking a disc out and switching it once the drive had stopped spinning because it had allready gotten the security info it needed....

tear apart your ps3 (void the warranty) and do this hack method the dangerous way. Risk scratching your discs, your lens and shorting out the whole blu-ray drive (that is locked to your console BTW)

Wait, wasn't there an in-depth tutorial posted on how to modify the eject motor so the PS3 will eject the disc for you?? didn't it burn out lasers and motors for those who were stupid enough to try it?

Either way, old swap hack sony can't fix or really care to fix. If you do it enough your PS3 will be a pretty swanky paperweight.. or you will be shelling out more $$$ than a modded PS2 for a drive replacement or new PS3 unit.

Which one of those possibilities stink? yeah, the last one.
-360 hack had the technical data to back it up, if you could sift through the massive amount of posts.
-DC boot disc you could get to load, it wasn't something released by sega. I loved the wavy text floating around the screen.
-PS2 backup swap trick - everyone knew it could be done. PS2 chips started appearing 2-3 months after PS2s initial release. 20+ wires scared a lot of people tho. Memory card modchip was just brilliant - too bad it was 7 years too late.

2 - The PS3 has actual PS2 hw inside.
3 - You can use Swap Magic on the PS3 and PS2 to avoid breaking your drive when you swap disks.
4 - This will not work with PS3 games.

Seems to me like a lot of folks are not looking at the history of console hacking.
Even the original Xbox hack is now taken for granted.

This generation of consoles is very far ahead of the game.
The 360 arguably wouldn't be hacked to this day if MS had signed the dvd firmware.
Even now this hack is only good for pirating games.
Internal security like the hyper-visor and e-fuses have made running custom code impossible on most 360 consoles to date.
This is why Homebrew is near non existent on the 360.

Traditional methods being used to hack these new consoles will have very little if no chance of success.

Why?
Whats new?

1. Both the 360 and PS3 are managed or monitored by a bare metal hyper-visor.
Even if you manage to crash the system, like using a traditional buffer over flow hack, the hyper-visor will detect this and lock the system.

2. The use of console specific encryption keys.
Every console encrypts data to match its own specific cpu id.
One hack will not fit all.

3. E-Fuses.
Hit the lotto and Cracked the encryption keys?
That's ok. Next firmware update blows a fuse and changes the key pair unique to that console.

While SKFU's method 2 is intriguing because it suggests that Sony didn't do a good job when telling hardware to clear the BD disk check cashe,
its still probably only something that would work for that console only and an easy firmware fix for Sony.

The bug in the Ps3 is in the COD3 network and Motorstorm and Warhawk, the idea with Ps2 hack from us was to use hacks from the Ps2s to try to get into
If anybody can be bothered to put up with the abuse like we received to try and help the scene good luck to you (but im not going to)
Regarding the HD swaping (the special dumps are from a PS3 debug) and clone drive is a key to it all
