1. Download the file from this link: <A href="ttp://Cooguy.fileave.com/ps3filer.zip" target="_blank">here</a>

2.Extract the the folder in the compressed file to the main root of a USB device or memory stick

3.Place the roms you would like to play into the main folder you have just extracted to the root

4.Go to the Video section in the XMB on your PS3

5.You will need to click the USB or memory stick you have chosen

6.Select the BD-J homebrew game

Just tried it, very cool. Had a go with Mega Man and Super Mario Bros. I don't know if sound is possible or not, but get that working and the slight button lag fixed and we've got our own virtual console on PS3 :D

hehe, yeah, snes was my first console, and I recently decided to play through Mario 3 on my PSP......

I remember p*ssing on Mario World with the run button permanently held down sh*tting on Koopas left right and centre.....

I can't get past the third fecking world of Mario 3.......

Ego's taken a big hit, and I average 2:1 kill to death on COD 4 when I'm not drunk....

1:7 when I am drunk.....

because your mindless rant had nothing to do with emulating NES on the PS3. But it's all good. Have another drink for me, would ya? It's still early in the day where I am.

Mario 3 is an NES game, I was relaying an anecdote about being a reasonable gamer, and my recent experience of finding an NES game too hard....

This is a public forum, that wasn't mindless, it qualifies as relevant, and in my opinion your pedantic posts are far more reduntant than mine...

Hahaha....pedantic posts......classic stuff. Anyways, I need help, I put the AVCHD folder on the root of my memory stick but I could not load the program, so I put it in the root of my VIDEO folder, still nothing. I renamed my mario, zelda and metroid roms and put those in the root of the AVCHD folder.......what am I doing wrong, this simply won't work for me. Does the AVCHD folder have to be the only folder on the memory stick? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

this is a no brainer guys. yall need to put the AVCHD folder in the root of the memory not in the video folder or any other folder, put roms in the root of AVCHD, now some roms dont work for me and theres no sound whatsoever.enjoy

I tried out Ninja Gaiden 3 - ultra widescreen! Ran fine with a bit of lag in the controls. The ROM list gets cuts off on the bottom of the screen if you have too many.

Good stuff! Bring on SNES!

For those that can't get it to work, just play them in your browser ;)

Regarding SNES emulation.
I remember a funny thing back in '96: I found a SNES emulator that was not supporting sound yet.
Computers were too slow to run the games with 30 fps, therefore you could skip frames.
Additionally you had to purchase the emulator, otherwise you could only display the games in 6 colors.

Unbelievable these days, right?

So don't complain, at least it's free :D

Yo, the only thing I can say is that you have to take everything else off of the memory stick ACCEPT the AVCHD folder, and some roms need to be renamed before they are seen. Interestingly this didn't work on my SD micro 2 GB memory stick w/ adapter and only my Sandisk 2 and 4 gig memory stick duo's work thus far. Strange indeed....

ive tested on a external 250 gb hdd and it runs just fine, but without sound. I think its the first genuine hello world up to date. Ps. Theres other dirs and files on the hdd, so, you must not be concerned about format any device just to put this emu. They gave a kick on the american hackers (LoL).

I cant get this 2 work. I tried it on a Sandisk 2 gb microSD memory card to an Sandisk Ultra II microSD to SD adapter. I had other files/directories first, that didnt work. I erased them all and just left the AVCHD folder on the root of MS and still nothing. I shorten the rom names to about 5-10 letter words and nothing.

Tried it w/ 150+ roms, nada, 10 roms, nada :(

I'll try later on my genuine 16 gb sony pro duo stick later.

Well I really would have wanted something more integrated to the ps3 OS, but hey this is a start, and a brilliant use of BD-J. Now that someone thought up that idea probably many more java apps will be making their way to the ps3. I hope he keeps working on it and gets sound, and some nice filters on there.

I used a Sandisk Cruzer Micro 8 GB and it worked fine. I hope somebody's still working on this. I wouldn't mind an aspect ratio fix and sound. :)

Just tried it here. Nice that I can use my PSP as a USB device to run from (though no option to copy from PSP to PS3 hard drive). Seems to be some minor graphics errors (mainly layering). Very cool to see something being done to run from XMB.:)

Homebrew on Ps3...that mean will there be a kind of iso-loader....
This type of homebrew doesn't circumvent what the PS3's firmware allows for, and ISO loader, would however.Essentially, as far as the PS3 can tell, the emulator is just a java applet that is for a Blu Ray movie disc (which is why it has certificates, etc...). An ISO loader on the other hand, could not be even remotely done the same way. It will require running unsigned code in the firmware (which isn't possible at the moment) in order to do that.;)

Would be really cool if the app could launch a local web page using the PS3's web browser.
Then the PS3's web browser could use its own built in java to run almost any java based games without ever going to the net.

try this.
in the readme, it doesnt say this, and maybe thats where some of u r getting hung up....
make sure when u place ur rom into the AVCHD folder that
1. AVCHD folder is on the root of the usb drive.
2. make sure ur rom is in LOWERCASE.
if it isnt , then u will get the black screen with the crazy numbers/letters.
example//
MARIO.NES will not work
mario.nes will work.
good luck !:)
