Will either PAL 80gb or 160gb include BC though?

Don't think so.

And I wonder if people can select the content by them self or it's pre-installed on the HD ?
I hope selectable, more details please

Aynway, nice HD-size, a bit more 'future-proof' then the 40 GB :)

i doubt it will include BC and with out it its just another pointless HDD upgrade, i can upgrade my HDD myself and i don't need crap im not going to play either.

Bring back BC and i'll grab one, until then Nahhh

it is not useless..

complaints about HDD installs, and complaints about bigger HDDs... Oh my, what to do?

Now, the option to record in some way televiosion content on the PS3... more HDD space required.
Not to mention that HDD prices are always coming down, so they change the size of it, and maintain the cost. Its probably a bit hard to find 20GB 2.5" hard drives.

The content is probably pre installed on the HD. The only way that you could select anything was to give that PS3 some "points"... but aren't the points given to the account, not the hardware itself?

Does it cost Sony a lot to constantly change a model by discontinuing one and addding another? Lets see: 20GB, 60GB, 80GB, 80GB MGS4, 40GB No BC, 80GB No BC, 160GB. It's just ridiculous.

Anyways I doubt it will have BC, but I'm still hoping it does because like other have said, you can upgrade your HDD easily, so there would be nothing special about this if it's just a HDD upgrade.

I honestly don't understand why BC should be such big issue.
Get a (secondhand) PS2 and you can play all PS2 games you like. ;)

I think its more sony is scared of microsofts projected price cuts.
If they kept the 40 gig model it would have to drop if the 80 gig does. Making it a really cheap blu-ray player and probably killing stand lone players all together.

But kill the 40 gig and make 80 gig the price of the 40 gig is pretty slick. That way sony looks like it cut price when really its just adding extra hdd space and getting free hype over a 100 dollar price difference. It also doesn't effect blu-ray stand alone players and gives them time to come down in price.

BC on the ps3 is 100% dead. It was killed off months ago in europe and japan and the US was the only country that still sold bc models until the e3 announcement of the 80gig. Sony will not release a bc ps3 ever again.

I would rather have upscaled PS2 games. Then again even the BC on the 60GB was not very good.

I don't see why everyone is crying about BC, I mean cmon it's maxconsole most of us have modchips and play our *backups* right?

Well, like others, I delayed by upgrade to either a 360 or ps3 on whatever HD format won.

Unfortunately, and yes it's a personal choice, until they do cater for BC I'll simply not bother and skip this so called nextgen console tech till the next reiteration comes along.

Considering I'm as blind as a bat anyways, I'll happily enjoy upscaled DVDs till then. (Judging by the poor sales and take up of HD players it would seem I'm not alone (I'm UK based).)

I'll just wait for the few games I do actually want to play be ported (hopefully better than most console ports) to the PC.

Cheers, Paul.

No it doesn't cost them a dime probably; on the contrary they probably make a few changes here and there to save money, how many revisions does the ps2 have so far? like 13 or 14? this is the same thing (if you take into account that some consoles were exactly the same they just had different HDD sizes). The price difference for a 40GB and an 80GB hdd to any of us is negligible at best, now imagine what it's like to sony who buy them in the millions of units.

As far as BC goes, don't really care. I actually have 2 ps2s next to my ps3 right now, and it's not going anywhere... and now with FREEMC there's a few games I couldn't try out on HDLoader that I need to test. Shame others can't see things that way, but that's sony's problem, not mine.

Not to bad ^^

WII: 31.07M
360: 20.34M
PS3: 14.88M
Check at.

Its is still the same almost like few weeks ago, just more but the % of every console is almost the same, so not really BIG news. (My opinion, and status on VGchartz)

Without another cut price and a Homebrew software, Ps3 will ever reach Wii.
