Kevin Salcedo has confirmed that Xbox Live has made $240 million in TRANSACTION revenues so far, with $180 million in the last 12 months which suggests DLC demand is really heating up.

Discussing Xbox Live marketplace, Kevin Salcedo, manager of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business, recently said - "Right now we have over 12 million users in over 26 countries, with $240 million (£122.8 million) in transactions revenue so far, with $180 million in the last 12 months alone."

That great big pot of cash to be dipped into isn't the only benefit to publishers, either. Salcedo went on to say, "On average, titles that have downloadable content on XBL marketplace have seen a 16 percent [longer] period of people holding onto that title, which keeps them from selling to second hand stores."

Fewer second hand copies of games floating around, of course, means more sales of brand new copies in which publishers can share in the profits.

Oh give me a break. How the hell would you know what MS figures are?
And sure, companies exaggerate numbers, but no company will flat out lie tenfold. That's just stupid.
And don't for one second think that Microsoft would be the only company to stretch their numbers. Nintendo and Sony have done their fair share.

The number makes sense for the whole year. 20 million xbox sold so that's about 9 dollars a year that people spend on live for 180 million for the last 12 month. But really it is not that impressive. World of warcraft probably make that in a month and lets not talk about hard media figures world wide.
