Advance Theory, Inc. has launched its first Media Player, Content Download System and Interactive Community application for PSP (Sony PlayStation Portable). PSP Advance is a revolutionary application that enables users to maximize the device's potential without having to convert files or remain hostage to Sony's expensive software and restrictive firmware updates.

The PSPAdvance application offers users one-click transfer of music, movies, games, magazines etc, via USB and wirelessly. But the PSPAdvance offering is much more robust then that.
Unlike other programs that only reside on the user's PC and focus on converting files to compatible PSP Firmware formats, PSPAdvance is a fully featured Media Player that resides on the PSP device as well as on the PC desktop. This allows the user to easily sync and play any format of file on the device through the PSPAdvance Media Player without the need for format conversion. This will enable the user to have complete flexibility and empower them to realize the PSP's full potential without restrictions.

PSPAdvance takes their offering one step further by including the first application to offer wireless connectivity. This combined with a built in Friendster style user community feature that allows users to seek one another based on their intrests or find PSP users that are doing things with the PSP that are unique and hook up for collaboration. The most timely aspect of the PSPAdvance Media Player is the iTunes style resource for audio and video content. With PSPadvance, users also recieve a PSP Alerts system that sends desktop alerts to users when friends are online with thier PSP or PC or when new applications or content is available. To add even more to this unbelievable system, users can even download or wirelessly access exclusive PSP formated magazines form their favorite publishers while listening to thier favorite MP3s.

PSPAdvance is the most comprehensive technology and entertainment resource on the market.

Advance Theory's philosophy is based on enabling the consumer, not restricting them. Enabling them freedom in media formats, ability to share and communicate with their peers, access to content both original and licensed, and an opportunity to create and distribute content themselves.

On the downoad page there I saw no info on the product itself. Only a trial download button, a "buy" button, and an image of the psp displaying a sexy girl. If this product were for real there would be a list ofr features accessible there.

In the event that I'm wrong and wasn't looking in the right place, can someone tell me whether this app is purported to overcome the memory stick pixel limit and display full-screen 480x272 video?

I wouldn't be interested in paying for any player that uses maxes out at mere 368x208, which is the highest 16:9 resolution available excepy on UMD (not counting the semi-functional "PMP-PSP Media Player").

One other "weird" thing:
The final version is supposed to work on all firmware version. (the trial is only for 1.5)

Isnt actually supported at all.

Shame would have bought that software to play my xvids of the stick with no downsampling.

The pspadvance is a lua based player which is supposed to be able to play many other things.

It doesn't actually run any Avi videos properly it cheats by playing an MP3 and an avi with no sound simultaneously in the demo giving the illusion of video.

Advertising on a PSP. These People should be shot. Lets have a format without everyday advertising. Look around you, no doubt you can see a label or some form of advertising around you right now.
This thing:

AN ADVERT EVERY MIN OR TWO!!!

The last thing we need is more in front of us when using everyday applications, we get enough of that from the Games and Movies already available on UMD.

This player is garbage. At 15MB this software is bulky and slow. It crashes my PSP every time it tries to play any avi video. MPG files play but they are very horrible quality (a lot of pixelation when full screen and maybe a 8-10fps playback) WMV is about the same senario as MPG.

I am glad this software was released for free, as if I paid for it I would be greatly disappointed. The 10 times smaller avi player software at least says the max res it can play, and it does actually play avi's. Just my 2 cents worth about this software.
