Reports indicate that Sony, Samsung, Hitachi, Motrola and more specialists have teamed up to form a joint industry development body to bring out a Wireless Home Digital Interface. What this will allow is secure encrypted HD video delivery through multiple rooms and then some with less than one millisecond latency. One member commented "“If you have a TV in the home, that TV will be able to access any source in the home, whether it’s a set-top box in the living room, or the PlayStation in the bedroom, or a DVD player in another bedroom.”"

like the nes source says, there its not just for ps3, as it also states set top boxes and dvd players will be supported, ergo wii and 360 will too be supported, its not just a sony thing, and its hardly overhyped, its pretty badass IMO, 1ms delay on wireless encrypted HD streams, **** yeah,

This is pretty cool news. I love the idea of a wireless standard for streaming HD.

Right now, I can stream HD content from my PC to my 360 on my HDTV no problem- the 360 does an excellent job of streaming HD content, hiccups are few and far between. My PS3 on the other hand, seems to have difficulty streaming HD content (even 720p, that the 360 does flawlessly) at least on my setup.

So many companies for something so simple, big deal transmit wireless HD signals OTA, and yeah like other have said, it doesn't say PS3 it can be any device with HDMI output...

Its not legal in the uk, it counts as tv broadcasting. Just like the ipod devices that play over the radio new laws will have to be made.

I don't see this working at all... Imagine having your DVD player (with remote) or Game Console (with game pad) in another room streaming to the room you are in.
The connection with the IR remote won't work with the DVD player. You need it to select "play" or navigate through menus. For game controls, you need to be in a distance that the controller can communicate with the console. For the Wiimote, this just won't work considering you need a sensor bar in the room that you are streaming to, and your Wii is back in another room (unless you get a wireless sensor bar).

All in all, it's cool, but just will end up being too much of a hassle.

radio spectrum is crowded enough, don't need more wifi signals bouncin around everywhere...

Plus I don't want people seein what I am watchin on TV.

Of course your remote would be BT, along with the controls of all your devices by this point - I mean it is wireless, more and more TVs will be BT controlled. Infared and LOS wifi is a thing of the past only the hobbyist use for projects.

You'd have one remote that linked up someway to a central media room storing all your entertainment devices, and it could broadcast simultaneously to all TVs in your place, or select TVs in your place from any device in your place. I'd be cool, could control what your kids watch, see exactly what they are watching.. Neighbours could likley see too if you left your devices open.

Sounds expensive... and not worth it!
