Ok so ive found myself in a weird situation when trying to flash my Hitatchi v0078fk. My computer's bios loading bar seems to hang at the very end whenever it has been booted more then once with my xbox 360 still on. Ill try to explain it better.. Say i turn on my pc with my xbox on, my PC will boot up fine and dandy and allow me to go into slax, everything goes fine and now i have to restart my computer, so i do.. But, since my computer has already booted up already without my xbox being restarted, it hangs. I cant restart my xbox either because that would get rid of the Mode B! Ive been trying for hours and I cant seem to figure out why this is happening. Even if your not sure just please give any suggestion possible, THANKS!

Computer : Dell dimension 4600, bios revision A12
Xbox 360 : Premium Console, Hitatchi-LG v0078FK

from your post your using onboard sata correct?

if so it's a intel chipset or something similar

to get the hitachi booting into windows the 78's are picky using intel at times they need to be connect to SATA0 or SATA1 on your motherboard's SATA ports that will ensure it boots

dont ask me why this happens it just does!

yeah, its an intel chipset and it is connected to Sata 0, but the thing is that it doesnt matter whether or not im going into windows, as long as i have booted my computer up more then once without rebooting my xbox it hangs.. Im blaming it all on my bios, but i might just use my friends computer to at least get the first flash done because any flash after that will not require me to use slax beforehand.

ye i completely know what you mean it doesnt boot at all it simply hangs and after a few minutes the bios does load but displays theres no devices connected had the same issue on another board myself try SATA1 instead of 0

Ok, i just tried using Sata 1 and there seems to be no difference. Im going to try letting it hang for a little and see what happens..

Update: Ive let it stay at the bios loading screen and it wont get past it no matter how long i keep it for, its been like 15 minutes at this loading screen.. Idk what could be causing this!

Ive got a Dell Demsion 3000 and it likes to hang on the BIOS screen when some hardware is connected that it doesnt like. It's real confusing...

Yeah, and the only way for windows to recognize the drive is to have the xbox on and connected before the loading screen, anytime else and it doesnt even know the drive is there... Also i dont know if this matters but when i restart my bios enough it says ALERT! Previous bios boot-ups have failed at checkpoint HDsk

i had a similar problem with a dell 4700 and a hit59, i could never get it to work with slax + onboard sata. in the end i hooked up a vt 6421 and used the xecuter connectivity kit to put it straight into mode b. it was the only way i could get it to work

Hey everyone, sorry for reviving my semi-old thread i just wanted to know if there was any way to keep the hitatchi drive in mode b even after you power off the system? I was just wondering before i go out and attempt to use someone else's computer to at least get the initial flash done. thanks.

your best shot now is to use a friend's computer in order to flash your machine.
