what utter crap, the r4 is well past its sell by date and is only bought now by idiots who dont know any better.

the best card is the cyclo ds evolution, its got tons of extra features and more importantly it plays 100% of all games (which the r4 doesn't).

anyone who sugggests anything other than the cyclo is simply lying if you are after the best.

1. it may be one of the older modchips but it's still one of the best. i have had no problems since the day i bought it

and on a final note, you seem more intent on detering people away from particular mods than promaoting the one you think is best EG. right now i could be saying "dont by DS Xtreme, its ****" but im not. so next time you do that i might not have second thoughts about reporting you to an administrater

billysastard is right to try and prevent anyone from buying R4, there are cards that are both cheaper and better out there. It would be a big mistake to buy an R4 right now.

2) try wall-e or the hulk (clean) i'm not upto date with what runs but i know those two certainly dont and i'd love to see an r4 connect a ds to a wii for games like pokemon (it cant).

you are right that i try to put people off buying certain carts, i dont like to see people spend good money on overpriced antiques, rip off clones, fakes and other such junk. so i always advise people away from n5, r4 and cards like that (mars etc), i usualy try to recommend what are currently the better cards of each type (basic and premium) so if you care to look you'll see in most posts i'd say look at edge, acekard ack2 and m3 real / i-touch ds for the basic cards and supercard ds/os one v3, acekard rpg and cyclo ds evo at the top end,. i do that because at this time those are the best carts and its fair to give a choice but as i say this thread asked a simple question "what is the best card, i dont care about prices" so i answered him correctly, because the cyclo evo is the best card, i also had to correct the other posters false assertion that the r4 was best because it clearly isnt.


now please go off and report this post too to the administrator (although i dont quite know how you'll do that since the report post goes to the mods;) maybe try email or pm) and whilst you are at it please fell free to say hi to him from me since i've known him online since before this place was started.

i'm no god, what i dont know about flashcards far exceeds what i do know, but, i am one of the regulars who try to help people out in the ds section, i try to give good advice, i try to direct people to what they need and away from what isnt worth getting.

They've recently come out with a new version of the card that supports microSD cards bigger than 2 gigs. They are currently on firmware 1.84, which just came out. Versions 1.70 and prior to 1.70 had a feature permitting a user to run a rom in "clean mode" (as opposed to "hybrid mode" which was the default). Using clean mode it was frequently possible to get unplayable roms to work (although it could be complicated setting it up to work with a rom in clean mode).

When they released 1.80 within the past month or so, they removed clean mode (because the new version of the card didn't permit it) and, since they didn't come out with updates all that often (1.70 was released in February), it appeared that running many of these problem roms could be problematic. However, to their credit they've been promptly releasing updated firmwares to fix various roms that had problems, including apparently, a japanese rom that uses 8Mbit saves, which most cards don't support. In the past few weeks they've released versions 1.81, 1.82, 1.83 and 1.84 each to fix some problematic roms. I believe it can now play all outstanding games, including a number that work with only a few other cards. In addition, they've recently added support to use R4 the cheat databases which are easily found covering almost all games.

Basically, the EZ Flash V is a very good budget card which doesn't have a lot of the features of the top of the line cards (CycloDS for example), but basically will play games very well.

CycloDS Evolution is generally viewed as the best of the cards currently available and includes a number of useful features not available on EZ Flash V (or other budget cards). These features include "real time saves", which essentially permits you to save the state of the DS at any time (so, for example, if you're in a game but stuck before the next save point, you could do a real time save of the state of the DS and game where you're stuck so you could return to it later, without losing all of your progress since the last save point). Another feature of the CycloDS is slow motion, allowing you to play a game in slow motion. Another feature allows changing in game LCD brightness.

I would strongly suggest staying away from the R4 because (i) while at one time it was the most advanced card (and, in its day, truly revolutionary), it is no longer the most advanced card, but it still charges a significant premium over other comparable cards (which are generally budget cards nowadays like the EZ Flash V) and (ii) it is being reported now that the R4 team is preparing an updated firmware that will "brick" Nintendo DSes using an R4 clone and unless you are absolutely certain that you are buying a real R4 and not a clone, I'd be concerned that I could be bricking my DS by installing the updated firmware. Also, firmware updates for the R4 are not nearly as common as for other cards.

One more point, with respect to the EZFlash V, you want to make certain that you get the new version supporting SDHC cards (i.e., cards > 2 Gs) rather than the older version. Some of the older versions of the card (in particular, some of the New Years Editions) are reputed to have a bad chip causing corrupted saves. On the other hand, I have a New Years Edition and it works fine.

You can state what features it has compared to the other devices, but just saying it's the "best" without giving any supporting details makes you come off as a fanboy. i know it sometimes looks that way but with this particular op we'd already covered other cards and various features in an earlier post, but rather than just carrying on the op seems to make a new thread for each question leaving the answers split over several threads instead of a single one, hence the somewhat simplistic response to his question in this thread

R4 and M3 are producted by a same company,but the M3real has the most beautiful UI
