Hey lads, I think am gonna have a go at flashing my own xbox and just wanted to ask a few questions.
I no for definite that I've got 4 Sata ports on my mobo and I've got a Nforce 4 chipset.
I think that will work but if someone could give me confirmation Id feel a bit more re-assured.
Another thing is within iPrep, under the Sata info option box and in the drop down menu I was just wondering whether selecting Nvidia Nforce4 Parallel ATA controller as the device to use is correct. However there is also a Nvidia nForce4 Adma controller. Which one shall I choose?
Thanks lads. :D

And yer thats the tutorial I'm following, just a tad confused thats all.
Ive ordered that pci sata slot anyway as that looks to be the most simplest.

no you can use nforce4.
use dosflash32 in windows.just be sure you get the orig.bin and check it for the key with firmware toolbox, then if it has the key present back it up to cd.
:)
^exactly what he said, you have a nforce4 which should work without a hitch.
dosflash32= best/easiest/simplest way to flash a benq for noobs, i mean for everyone pretty much. i use it all the time.

Make sure you are 100% sure that its a BenQ as the drive tray seems to be identical to the unflashable Lite-on drive.

open the console look on the drive at the sticker that is on it.if its a benq it will have vad6038 on it,if it dont have that anywhere on it,it is not a benq it is the new liteon.

not true if you check over a lot of posts lots of people have trouble using dosflash32 as it locks up most peoples pc's

thats cos they are using vt6421 and that is bad card for dosflash32,nforce4 is not problem at all.i know i tried with vt6421 and it kept locking up,tried nforce4 and no probs at all.now i use dosflash32 all the time.
:)
^right, i mean for us nforce 4 guys lol.

erm or you could find yourself "iprep"
this will format and put all tools on a memory stick for you to read n flash the benq and sammy drives.
you just follow the on screen instructions it tells you.
