Xbox Live Ban DVD drive unplugged rumor???

While I was doing the x-clamp fix, i forgot to plug in the DVD drive and powered on the console. I still got the rrod but the green light in the middle was blinking. Does this mean when i fix my console I will get banned from Xbox Live? I have heard a rumor that the console records if u powered it on without a DVD drive and that you will get banned. I want to know if this rumor is true.

no one can confirm this but you should be ok

It's pretty common for people to flash their drive using the Xbox360 as a power source - I know I did. I have not been banned, and many people I know who also flashed like this have not been banned either.
